Can someone please explain to me the hype about Paddy Madden? Granted the last 2 seasons he has scored a good number of goals, but I really don't know what sort of player he is? Can anyone shed some light on this? Target man? Fast? Both?

From what I've seen he's an out and out penalty box striker who doesn't offer much in terms of general play. He's a good player at this level and I'd take him but I'd want someone with a bit more to their game if we are to play one up front.

He's pretty quick but I would say more of a fox in the box from what I've seen although he did play wide right in a 3 for Scunthorpe in the 14/15 season

15/16 20 in 46 in the league
14/15 13 in 45 in league (played wide right most of the season)
13/14 not a great season bombed out by yeovil as was deemed not good enough for the championship
12/13 23 in 38 in the league

I agree with you mate, I don't see anything in Madden, he won't create a goal out of nothing, he relies purely on service. How this guy scores goals is beyond belief. But he does score goals.

I think he's a lucky striker rather than a good striker! Good striker don't rely on luck.

Overall don't rate him at all, and neither do Scunthorpe fans.

Sunderland 2-0 up. Norwich and Toon in the Championship, so Maddison, Armstrong and Murphy will all be at Championship level next season - would think they'll get playing time (maybe not Murphy) so unlikely to get them back on loan. I want a non league striker from AFC Fazackerley (made up !!!) who is hungry and averages 4 goals a game. Buy a couple of them for £15k each !!

would take Clarke in a shot. Was very good at the Ricoh this season despite the scoreline he caused us problems.

Just spoke to my Bury supporting mate who's quite in the know and he's said that Clarke, Mayor and Hussey will all be leaving as too good for them (I know it sounds strange saying he's in the know with the Hussey comment) but he's not heard anything about Clarke coming to us. Says they are in the shit with cash and under a transfer embargo. But states Mayor is the player we should be going for.

Not necessarily, bury have overstretched their wage bill and he wikk be one of the highest earners, Mk Dons didn't pay us a penny for baker, or Gillingham for Cody and both were still in contract.

Both did fantastic for the club's we released them to as well. So it would be good for it to go the other way for us for once.
MK Dons even had a song about the fact we gave Baker away!!

If you bring in Clarke you need to change the whole shape of the team. A lot if this season we played 4-2-3-1 which meant we rarely had an out and out striker in the box feeding off crosses. In fact i dont think Armstrong scored once inside the 6 yard box all season, maybe his 2nd against Wigan? Also didn't many goals with a first touch. So many goals where he took possession of the ball and created a chance. If we play 3-5-2 then a Clarke type would work, especially if he has a pacey forward alongside him.

Id take Clarke back but hes got two years left on his contract so it would depend if it was financially viable.

Someone previously mentioned their Bury mate said Mayor is the player we should go for, Quality left winger at this level.

explain for those not in the know please
Basically after a game in which Clarke I think had scored, got MOTM and we'd won the press asked to interview him, so kieran goes into the dressing room, says "Leon, could you come and do an interview", Clarke responds (urban gangster voice) " man don't do interviews", keiren says "come on Leon, you've scored got MOTM they've interviewed Robin's, they want you you know", Leon respond " nah, man don't do interviews". Robins bollocked him made him do the interview.

A few months later he has the captains armband, he doesn't score, press don't ask to speak to him, so after the game he comes up to Kieran and (in urban gangster style) asks if he can do an interview, kieran had to go and ask the press to interview him.

Said he was really hard to read. He tells is better

Man don't do press... Man do press. Absolutely brilliant story told by K Crowley on the Nii Lamptey podcast, which was a very good listen.
