Had to leave the door open as he would have trapped his fingers if he had shut it

Still a no from me, I can see us giving him a payp deal then mowvray only signing 1 centre back instead of 2, then reda breaking down again 10-15 games in then we're down to stretching around trying to find someone on loan.

I'd definitely take him on a pay as you play. There's not a shortage of decent CBs available on loan from other teams should he break down again. See Ben Turner, Cargill and Jack Stephens this season. No reason to think we wouldn't be able to bring in players of similar quality on loan next year.

I would rather we replace fully rather than 'hope' this deal works. With ricketts not getting any younger, we need a longer turn solution. Maybe Ben turner wants to come back?

So we wait for him to break down, then we have to scramble about to get a loan replacement?

There aren't any emergency loans next season which makes it even harder.

If we sign two centre backs who TM plans to start as his first choice CB's then I have no issue with having Reda on a pay as you play deal. That would leave Ricketts, Reda and Willis in reserve to call up.

When Reda plays, he's superb.

Pay as you play for me.
Single handly wins you football matches. Ricketts or the young lad to cover whilst we seek his replace if he gets injured.
If you free up his wages a lot more options will be on the table than before when you neef to replace him.

What Stupot said.

Ultimately it's hard to see how he's not going to get injured at some point so his presence is going to be unsettling. Someone will have to sit on the bench waiting for him to break, they'll then have to try and step in his shoes and then we still might end up having to find a replacement for him hoping what's left of the scraps is good enough. Lets replace him now and be done with it. Harsh but ultimately the best thing for the team.

Exactly! Much rather somebody that might be 90 - 95% as good as him for example, but play near enough every game and get a good solid defence that plays week in week out.

An injury crock like Johnson is never going to accept a pay as you play.

And did really someone just say he wins you matches? Jesus, he was a good league one level defender, nothing more.

Agree. It's the distraction/disruption factor that is caused. Creates 'what if ' element around your budget and whilst all clubs pick up injuries, this gives you plus 1 extra injury guaranteed. With the removal of emergency loans, I think we have to look elsewhere.

exactly my thoughts. get him on low low wages and he is a coup, yes the risk of injury is there but when he plays there aint many players better despite what some idiotic posters might say about reda

What's our record like when he plays 90 minutes compared to when he doesn't?
Agree with you on the contract but though. However that's the only deal we should consider

I've heard through the grapevine that Ben Turner is signing a deal with us. He's a lot better than Reda. Just let it go now, he was good when he played but he's no good when he's played a quarter of 2 seasons during his time here.

Oh and also, Simon Cox is signing very soon

Only OK as a backup sub to send on in the last 30mins if you need an extra goal threat without compromising the defence.

The main CB pairing needs to be other players.

But even so I reckon he would still pick up an injury eventually, the trick is to make sure an injured Reda does not cost very much to keep on and his contract could be terminated in the event of a long term injury.

A choice of Turner or Reda
Turner every time fir to his injuries
But if it's a straight forward should we sign Reda on a pay as you play
No question

Don't see a problem with another 12 month deal, and if we bring someone like Ben Turner in we'll have those two plus Willis and with young Harres on the horizon plus Ricketts and Stokes who can also play centre back we should be well covered and hopefully relatively cheaply. Other areas such as striker department are more crucial as at the minute we have nobody.

So we have Johnson and Turner, who are both not shy of an injury? Both would probably want a decent wage.

Then with no emergency loans, we are faffing around stuggling?

That's the problem though. If we're honest with ourselves both players should be playing at a higher level. We're only having this discussion as they're both crocks.

Both for me on pay as you play as you stated.

Anyone can get injured, if Turner is that much of a risk we shouldn't take him on. As for Johnson he ain't going to be that expensive wage wise a replacement could be considerably more expensive. It gives young Harres time to develop a bit more and I can see him and Willis as a pair one day
