They will certainly put in some sort of claim if they win. Most likely they will try and claim a silly amount saying they now have no option other than to build a new stadium.

In the extremely unlikely event that they get awarded that sort of money I hope it is somehow ring fenced so it can only be used for a new stadium.

Would tend to agree.

SISU win, doesn't stop them being immoral loons.

CCC win... doesn't stop them being immoral loons.

Basically we're still caught between two sets of nutters, whoever wins!

I agree, but I believe it comes down to motives. SISU are a hedge fund who's premise is to buy low sell high etc. CCC are supposed to represent the people of this City sporting or otherwise. They also have a CEO who professes to be a fan. To the point when we signed Marlon King she stated she would not go to the Ricoh while he was playing (she is never there it was a political football for her to kick).
When CCC made the decision it was 100% personal and a very visible two fingered salute to SISU and specifically Joy Sapella who Anne had met and not warmed to. Therefore CCC went out their way to prop up a loss making business so it could be sold to an investment firm on the cheap but just not CCFC. This move apart from being questionable, pandered to the franchise model of sport that often disregards fans interests while also damaging the major sporting club in our City.

We of course can stand on our own two feet but having a Council so inept as CCC that can fall asleep on issues such as the train fiasco to name but a few is why I am SISU all the way on this one and hope Anne get a p45 swiftly after.

I don't see how it's possible to support either, personally... given neither have shown any desire to respect roles as custodians of tradition, culture... heritage in this instance.
I'm certainly not convinced by a defence that SISU are somehow 'better' in this because they're more open about not caring about the football club!

Hasn't Lucas already gone?

Will you be opening the bubbly if SISU win?

Yes defeat for Lucas would be a fitting end to the dire oligarchs rule and contribution for destroying sporting tradition in Coventry.

That's not even a coherent sentence.

Yes, because the council aren't just as bad are they?

Well no, they're not. They had every justifcation, in law and morally, do prevent SISU from taking over the Ricoh. I'd have done the same 100 times out of 100 if I was in charge of the council. Some fans on here seem to think that the CCC owed the City a free stadium...utter delusion.

And what better way to show a moral compass then selling a ground to a carpet bagging investor who wants to move a London team...

[h=2]Leaving the EU would give us more control of our own laws and regulations[/h]

  • Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg are responsible for more than half of the UK’s legislation.
  • The UK government was taken to court 23 times for failing to implement EU law between 2007 and 2011.
  • UK influence inside the EU is dwindling. We currently have Less than 13% of the votes in the EU Parliament – when we first joined, we had almost 20%.
  • The top 100 EU regulations cost the UK economy £33.3 billion per year. Since 2010, the EU has introduced over 3,500 new laws affecting British business.
  • The EU has passed over half a million pages of law since its inception in 1957.
The UK currently has very little influence in the EU. It’s incredibly difficult to make changes, and we’re consistently outvoted in the EU Parliament. The same applies in the Council where the UK says "No" to EU proposals more than every nation but one.
More worryingly, EU regulations are transposed into UK national law without passing through Parliament - regulations which have proved incredibly costly for British business.
Leaving the EU would free Britain up from the masses of red tape dished out by Brussels, saving billions of pounds across UK industry (which in turn would mean lower prices for consumers).
What is more, it would give Britain back control of its own laws, which would ensure that our national parliament remains a genuine, legitimate and democratic force. The UK is one of the world’s oldest democracies, with a robust and mature legal system. Consequently, we believe that we should be free to have the final say over any laws that are implemented in our country.
Those laws you mention might well be to the benefit of people in general...rather than beneficial to the wealthy via feeding the economy over & over.

Given the gross incompetence even this week in governing (exams!), all the arguments for staying appear to be just as speculative as those to exit.

If we vote to leave there might well be negative consequences for us all. But if we vote to stay the faceless bureaucrats will REALLY turn the screw on us.

The EU idealists want all nations in the EU to have the same good quality of life. That means there is a normalising' effect. Our quality & standard of living will decline to pay for the Romanian increase in quality & standard of living.

The only 'tiers' left will be super-rich, celebrity, political, average & poor - poor making up the vast majority of people...then the bitterness starts, builds & rebellions result.

Not in my lifetime...but my guess is maybe in 75-100yrs Europe will be at war again.

...onwards & upwards PUSB

Yes but you would prefer a result in court over promotion, so in not sure what you would do is really surprising.

I bet you would be dead against sisu getting the ricoh and mortgaging it.

Not sure people really have an awareness of the positives of being in the EU. Most people think its all crazy laws, half of which aren't even true.

This gave me a chuckle.

I find it hard to believe anyone could prefer a court victory to promotion. Unless it was some sort of victory that would set us up for huge success in the long term then, as a football fan, why would you prefer it over a successful season.

The same as somebody opening a bottle of bubbly over it... Very weird.

If the court outcome gave us messi or automatic promotion I'd be willing for that!

I want Britain to be full control of Britain. At the minute we don't. Always going to be pros and cons but I'm swaying towards OUT at present.

Couldn't agree more that man. We will all vote leave. Get back to running our own country and football affairs then.

As for court, let's see what tomorrow brings but even if sisu won their appeal it's then only a retrial at a guess?

The reason why we have to accept all this EU crap is because we don't have a written constitution. Most other EU countries do, and if any legislation isn't compatible with it, they can ignore or refuse to implement it. If we stay in, we will be inundated with ridiculous laws and have no way of refusing to apply them, plus countries like Turkey,Macedonia,Albania etc will be joining and they are too close to Syria for comfort, mainly unskilled and very poor, I can imagine our contributions will be increased to cover the cost. Leaving is the only way to secure our future for our children and grandchildren.

All I hear is what it costs us.
How do much did two World Wars cost and how long to pay down in todays money.
Sixty years of peace.
Worth thinking about and a growth of Nationalism returning throughout Europe.
I'll be voting in for my kids and their kids.
No doubt there are faults that need correction, I've posted on here before re some of them.
It's not very different to the model Osborne is employing now devolving powers to the region's in the hope they all compete V one another, big fan of regional pay variations as well.
Same thing on a smaller scale.

The vote is a referendum and therefore not legally binding, so even if more out votes were cast it doesn't mean we'd leave. Cameron offered a referendum, not that he'd follow it.

Also, with regards the posts that the appeal is about justice being served, if it were found that the council hadn't done anything wrong would people here then accept that?

Would SISU accept that? I'm sure they'd be knocking the door of the Supreme Court - as CCC will be if it's found they have done wrong.

You never know in one way it might lead to a chain of events that gets us back to where I believe we belong.
I for one do not believe we have 'found our level'

follow all the action

http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/live-judgment-day-ricoh-arena-11324941

My predications for today are.....

1. Council cleared of any wrong doing
2. SISU look to appeal to 4 senior judges
3. Telegraph to run with "5 things we didn't know about a judges wig"
4. And we do it all again in the Autumn

*Follow all the action as spun by Simon Gilbert. For an alternative view which is rather less Council-biased, try the Observer or follow Les Reid on social media

We will know if it is something bad about the council as it will take a few days extra to report it.

That's great, I will give it a look. I take it Les covers it in a neutral way, with no spin

Uuummm, I'd say him stating Ann Lucas had tampered with evidence prior to police arrival following the death of Phil Townshend and then having to delete the Tweet and edit the article on the Coventry Observer website because this wasn't actually factual wouldn't support this.

If SISU lose and take it to another level then it will continue to really irritate floating supporters. If they win however, make a packet and fuck off into the sunset it could open up all sorts of opportunities !

I deliberately didn't say that Les or the Observer would give a particularly balanced view, just that it wouldn't take the Council's side.

Italia, as for reading the Court judgment, will that be accessible anywhere immediately?
