It does not work because if he gets injured again, and he will, we will be scrambling for a replacement again and it will be a big disruption to the team. How many times are we going to repeat the same mistake?.

literally the only one I can think of was Diaby when he went back to France. There must be a few, but not sure there are any CCFC related

No from me too, just has the most appalling injury record, from trapping his Hand in a door to ripping the muscle off his thigh , this guy when fit is great

Far too much of a risk, would much rather have an average player who can play a full season rather than a player of Reda's calibre who can only play 1/3 of a season. His injuries cause too much disruption to the playing budget and squad

He hardly played in the Championship and he wasn't injured all the time.
he wasn't rated at SW as a CB...they saw his strength as an attacking fullback. His positional sense in the centre was awful...from Sheffield Wed fans

I don't believe a pay as you play contract would be legally possible anyway for obvious reasons.

The club have a duty of care to help him with his rehab work and regain his fitness which will help him hopefully to find another club. I wouldn't necessarily read it as a door left open. But who knows what could happen if he gets no offers and city struggle to bring in there targets.

I agree with this I think its more a case of the club offering a helping hand rather than an indication that he could be offered an extension. Obviously like you and in fact Mowbray said, if he has no club by mid-end of August lets say and he is fit why not potentially enter talks about extending his stay. But it seems like theres too many ifs to suggest that mowbray is truly open to offering a contract. He basically described re-signing Johnson in last years window as getting bitten by his own dog so like you said, its the clubs duty of care to why he's still knocking about ryton. Wish he could just stay fit though because he's a great player at this level
