Hang on, some of that land is higgs land which already has pitches on it, and is where the netball, skate park and allotments are

There you go Italia, absolutely no chance the indoor footy area will be kept when the swimming pool is built.

Mr Breed "probably not", I would say definitely not.

And there we go. Knew there was some bad news on the way as some familiar faces have reappeared and the spin from the CCC / Higgs / CSF / Wasps side had started.
Do you believe plans for Wasps to build training facilities next to the Higgs Centre will impact the club’s academy?
“Wasps have been working up plans for a centre based at the Higgs Centre but while that is the intention, nothing is certain.”
Hmmm, so plans have been submitted but the person running the Higgs Centre doesn't know if it will impact the clubs academy or not. Find that very hard to believe.

to be fair, the people outside the centre look like they are wearing the new ccfc home kit

Yep, I said the same in the thread the other day that I had a feeling something was happening because of the PR stuff and people appearing ;)

Right on top of the Academy pitch isnt it?

If he really does know nothing then he is utterly incompetent.

Well. At least we know what we're fighting now. Time to stop bitching about the politics and come together. The application only went in today. That means it's not approved and has a process to go through which means it's not too late to start fighting it.

First question. Does anyone know more than your average Joe on here about planning application's? What's the first opportunity that the residents of Coventry will get to fight this? How should we be fighting it? What's the legal basis (if there is one) for fighting it?

Seems to me that this is a battle that's going to have to be fought on many fronts. This planning application being just one.

It was submitted today you clown.

You are not very smart are you, Anderson should have had his ear to the ground, its been clear something has been afoot for a while now, why hasn't he found out what's been going on?

Was thinking more of the ones where he said he didn't know if Wasps were building training facilities at Higgs.
Yeah, he would have been heavily involved in it, given its taking a large chunk of land the Higgs currently use. Given that Wasps have bought that land, it makes me certain it wouldnt have mattered if we had a long term agreement anyway.

I agree with Tony, we need to get this objected to.

FFS we're going to lose our academy, it's time to stop taking digs at SISU or Anderson and look at the bigger picture.

I totally agree about the bigger picture and losing our academy is a disaster...but it was SISU and people like fisher and now Anderson who took their eye off the ball. It is they that played their own game and lost sight of the football club being an essential part of the community and an integral part of the city. It is not the fans who need to be reminded of the bigger picture...it is not the fans who have created the mess our football club is now in. The fans are a pawn in the struggle between two hedge funds and a council. Unfortunately 'our' hedge fund appears to lose, lose again and then again. Their only response appears to be court action, plans for non existent stadia and a list of 17 points that need discussion that are not shared.

It's already out in the open so I'm thinking that won't be a possibility now that the cats out of the bag.

So long as we keep shouting and keeping it in the public domain it will have to be done publicly surely.

To my thinking a petition against it would be the first place to start.

What I don't get is how it is them taking their eyes off the ball.

It is like saying somebody got punched, but it wasn't the person who punched them it was the other person because they didn't duck.

Have Wasps bought that land? Has the application been made on the basis of buying the land once approval is granted? Has there been a change of ownership? Would this information be available from the land registry office? Pretty sure that anything in the land registry office is available for anyone to look at by law so this should be relatively easy to find out I think.

First thing you can do is submit an objection:

http://planning.coventry.gov.uk/portal/servlets/PlanningComments?REFNO=FUL/2016/1458

Won't make a difference I guess, but I've done it anyway. Made me feel slightly better, but they may have to blank out the obscenities when they publish it. All submissions in favour or against will be appear in the 'neighbour comments' link on the planning application page which gets updated weekly.

Also, as long as the application receives more than 5 objections ithas to go to the planning commitee for consideration which is open and public.

Planning application will be a formality.

There is little point in objecting from a legal perspective but there is to start to make a point. So everyone should lodge objections through the proper channels and petitions start.

People need to decide what they want to protest for and against before things are done.

No...the irresponsible way in which they moved the club to Northampton...nit for footballing or societal reasons but merely for potential 'quick buck' economics. Perhaps not taking their eye off the ball but rather focussing on the wrong ball

Agreed. It will go through, but if lots of people object on the planning portal (link above) it will perhaps be an opportunity to make it known to CCC the depth of feeling and the planning officer/councillors on the planning committee will have to respond with a formal response and justification for the decision.

according to the application form the land belongs to Coventry & Warwickshire Award Trust, Xcel Leisure Centre......but Mr Breed knows nothing...
