When you look at Gael when he receives the ball his first reflex is to return the ball sideways or backwards immediately - he does not look up and seek the incisive pass forward.

He doesn't attempt a one, two and go approach when available.

This lad has prodigious talent that is being obviously thwarted by safety first tactics - Gael and Connor must be given licence to use their talent and be more adventurous in the final third.

So come on AT remove the shackles on these two superb starlets and let them loose.

He's not so far shown anything as special as the adulation would appear (especially compared with the blatant criticism of others in the squad). He is raw, will improve for this season and is undeserving of criticism but for those who seem to hold him in high esteem he is nowhere near the finished article and if we had anything like a normal squad he would currently be bench at best. However, it's not his fault he has been thrown in ahead of his time, has no real chance for learning and can't afford to make errors or play with freedom so he has my full sympathy and support for that too.

For me he's far to lightweight if he isn't passing it backwards he gets pushed off the ball by the opposition.

Maybe with a couple of wins under our belt hopefully some of the players shackles will come off and they will start feeling a lot easier on the ball and try things that they have not dared or tried to do, just hope it's not being coached out of them and the young players at the clubs confidance is not damaged too much.

Pleas god no! I remember Dave Smith too - "the new Kevin Keegan" that for once had nothing to do with coaching he was lightweight, paceless and had no footballing brain. Decent fella and academically bright but tactically inept, useless on the floor and worse in the air.

This thread started very badly but seems to have turned into a genuinely good debate! My opinion is a mix of inexperience, negative tactics/confidence and lack of movement have harmed this side of his game.
That said, hes looked v.poor last 2 games but could probably just use a rest today and maybe vs Pompey too. Seemed to help after Ipswich

I agree with a fair bit said so far but disagree with a lot also. It is all down to natural ability and confidence. A young player does not suddenly become a player at 18 or 21 for instance. What is the use of a player with natural ability but no confidence? We have been lacking confidence. We have just brought in a player with natural ability and also confidence. Hopefully his confidence will spread. I would say we have been passing sideways a lot as if you have the ball then your opponents will have a problem scoring. The only problem is when you are playing keep ball you do not attack as much. We have been in need of an outlet. When we get a few wins the confidence will grow and players like Bigi will then push forward. That is long as they are not told to hold back.

Well this debate centres on a matter of opinion, we all see players differently, their good points and their not so good points, I for one could not see all the fuss about Issac osbourne, to me he was a very limited player in all aspects of his game, yet he had his plaudits who could apparently see what I could not.

Where'as Gael Bigirimana, has a wealth of natural ability, this lad was born to play football, and his talent shines like "A diamond on a dung heap"his balance and poise on the ball, his quick feet and speed of thought are outstanding for one so young, his range of passing is excellent, and rarely does he give the ball away, or get caught in possession.

"So yes"in my opinion, Biggi is all that and then some, in a couple of years when he's "Beefed up" and increased his stamina levels, I fully expect him to be playing in the Premiership, where he'll get more space and time to show off his unquestionable talent.

What qualities does Bigi have?

Well, for one he can pass the ball, Secondly don't know if this has been picked up on before, but he is comfortable on the ball with both feet and there's not many of those types of players about. He is quick and he can tackle. He is also supposed to have a very good shot on him too.

Not sure what else we want in a young footballer? Looks a top prospect for me.
