He has been trying to sort it. He used you 'just have to ask' suggestion and get told no.
You couldn't make it up, we've refused permission to put flags up and somehow you've find a way to turn it into a dig at the club.
Who refused permission? It's not clear, but feel free to jump in and assume Wasps did.

I haven't said Wasps refused permission.
approaches to Coventry City Council and Wasps
The club also claims in the emails that Wasps had flatly refused to share the flagpoles, in one instance allegedly claiming: “We’d rather take them all down.”The club also claims in the emails that Wasps had flatly refused to share the flagpoles, in one instance allegedly claiming: “We’d rather take them all down.”

Surely you have by reposting those comments ?
If they had emails saying ......

Why not publish them ?

Would you prefer they said they didn't want it?

Also if you read the article it says that Wasps were granted permission without so much as a discussion. CCFC on the other hand had to be referred 'upwards' - whatever the fuck that means.

You really do swallow their bullshit time and again...

Those damn flag poles that can't be used to fly flags!
The council had to spin so quickly they've come up with something that's clearly absolute bollocks.

Firstly why would Icon be involved? They were the company who did the branding for London 2012, why would they care if there are Wasps or CCFC flags up there? Are we really supposed to believe that CCC pay an external contractor in case they need to put a few flags up?

The alternative is Icon are under contract in which case why were the flag poles not being maintained seeing as now they rather conveniently can't take the huge weight of CCFC flags.

You can see what happened a mile off. Wasps asked to put flags up and got told they could do whatever they wanted. CCFC fans complain, club asks if they can put flags up. Person on the frontline uses common sense and says yes, someone higher up the chain prevents it. As soon as questions start being asked of the council Wasps flags come down and the flagpoles are supposedly unable to withstand the weight of a flag!

I don't swallow anything from Sisu. I just wish they would concentrate on the important issues.
Referred up means they probably contacted a junior employee who couldn't make the decision.

I go past there every day, I can't recall seeing then since MTV. Not saying they haven't, I just don't remember it.

They did I think, I remember thinking they must have come down ready for rihanna flags. Wouldn't have been back up long.

I'm sure they have been up in the past month.

This is more PR, though it is mean & unworthy to deny anyone associated with the Ricoh & environs access to those flags its not the real issue is is?

“It’s a small thing but it’s hugely symbolic.”

Meanwhile having short term stadium contracts & uncertainty over the academy ..

"Are huge and absolutely crucial issues"

Skyblueweeman must be right at home here.

Debating about flags and where they can and can't go.

Post of the week that, very good!

I debated hanging the red hand Ulster outside my window for the Euros as I knew I could get away with it over here!

Who's pissed in your pot ?
Nothing wrong with my statement.
Sisu never wanted any of them until someone else got them.
Have you changed your stance ?
No I haven't changed my stance I've always been for the club. Ever other day something is done to this club little things might not seem significant but all add up to erasing the club from this city. SISU are parasites so are Wasps so have no morals but to see our council putting obstacles in the way of everything the club wants to do is is as tragic as it is obscene. Obviously you can live with that I can't.

UPDATE: June 29.

  • The council clarified the Wasps flags went back up after MTV Crashes and were again taken down for the ‘end of the rugby season’ in ‘mid-June’. Regarding any return of flags, the council would still “be willing to work with both clubs as long as both clubs would be willing to share costs,” including repair costs.
  • CCFC managing director said today in response: “We would be delighted to contribute to making the flag poles safe so we can fly our flag, or flags.
  • Wasps has declined to comment.
  • Asked if the council would clarify it would be prepared to work with the Sky Blues solely were Wasps no longer interested in flying its flag on the roundabout, a ‘council spokesman’ said: “We had already said that we are happy to talk to any businesses about use of flagpoles.”
  • The council declined to put a name to who was providing the responses to our questions. It also continued to claim the council’s ‘assistant director communications’, Fran Collingham, approved the use of the 10 flagpoles by Wasps and was later also ‘happy’ to consider a sharing arrangement; and that the two chief executives were simply notified for their information as the matters developed.

Contradicting themselves about the MTV crashes stuff.

The irony is that you constantly calling people a victim, makes you come across as the biggest victim on the site. Oh woe everyone doesn't like Wasps. Get over yourself.
