You think that some people might let their clear bias drop for a second and see this as good news. Those who want any excuse to have a go at anyone but CCFC's board and owners would have had a field day if Wasps had opted to play on a Saturday. They didn't and we continue to play on a Saturday.
If Wasps are so anti-CCFC as many on here think, they'd have made a point of fucking us over, right? They didn't, but don't let that fact get in the way of your obsession.

Yes it is for their benefit. Playing on a Sunday draws more rugby fans in because most are involved with their local clubs on Saturday.
Leaving Saturday's free for City suits football fans and we get to play on the pitch before them.
We had a post like this last season when they announced Saturday fixtures. We rent a stadium off them, it's the way it is unfortunately. Stop moaning when it is actually a bit of good news.

It has no real baring on us does it? Its one season, of which I imagine their would only be one or 2 clashes any way. Still no long term deal or discussions around a long term deal

be there right, and this place would have been in meltdown.
They have elected to play Sunday, obviously this suits them but also makes
life better for us, this irrational hatred of a local newspaper "is for some"
becoming worryingly obsessive

It works both way's though Brylowes. For some its the Telegraph, others the Observer. Sadly it depends which side of the fence you sit on.
The purpose of a headline is to draw people in - which it's achieved.
Also, not quite sure how you've deemed the focus of the article to aimed at CCFC -

Only the final fixture of the season against champions Saracens, when all six matches take place simultaneously on May 6, is scheduled for a Saturday, while a date for the Christmas weekend visit of Bath is yet to be confirmed.
Wasps’ three European Cup home fixtures plus any subsequent involvement in the play-offs remain outstanding, as do LV=Cup home games, but there is no doubt this is a policy decision taken by the Ricoh Arena club.
Wasps’ Sunday shift means football can take place at the Ricoh in its traditional Saturday afternoon slot, while Coventry and Warwickshire’s big rugby community will be free to watch at the Butts, play for or spectate at the county’s 60-or-so junior clubs and rugby-playing schools, or officiate on a Saturday before enjoying Premiership action the following day.
Director of rugby Dai Young said these considerations were all important factors in the decision to double the number of Sunday home matches in the schedule.
“We all want Coventry City to continue playing at the Ricoh,” he says, “as moving into the area has made us all realise how important football is to the city, so we very much want them to remain there.
“These arrangements are made way above my head, but if us playing on a Sunday helps with this, it is a small sacrifice to make.
“We’re also now getting to realise how much rugby is played in the area and how much focus is on it at all levels. By playing on a Saturday we miss out on those rugby fans who want to come and watch but play themselves or are involved with their own clubs. There is also lots of mini-rugby on a Sunday morning, so we hope families will be able to come to the Ricoh after that.
“So it may just be that Sunday is the best day for Premiership rugby in this area, which is important as we want to be playing in front of a full stadium.”
By shifting their home games to Sundays, Wasps seem likely to have traded off increased ticket sales against reduced bar takings, while likely hospitality uptake will also have been an important factor.
Young added that while commercial considerations have played a part in this switch, from a playing perspective he is entirely comfortable with it.
“The only concern about playing on a Sunday is the need to maximise the number of seven-day turnarounds between games,” he says, “but plenty of thought has gone into it.
“So we’re not too bothered from a rugby point of view, as the main thing is having consistency, and if we know we are a Sunday team week-in, week-out, we can work around it.”

The point is, anyone who sees the headline will think that the article and decision is all about wasps wanting ccfc to stay. Its not and its misleading and its blatent PR.
I'm not even sure whether wasps could force us to play Sundays, as I assume the current contract (the one negotiated before they arrived) says we have to have primacy.
They have chosen to play on Sundays because its financially beneficially to them, then tried to make it about doing the football club a favour.

The Observer would refer to them as the franchised rugby club London Wasps. - keep repeating this to remind people they're not from round here.

I'd say it's precisely the point Bry... they know we are there for 2 more years and have to accommodate us, why piss off your tenant 2 years before you need to? They already have the negative PR from the academy to deal with. Don't kid yourself that they are doing us any favours.

Bit of a non story, football league rules state that a football team should have priority on use of a stadium for games. We're in a contract with wasps so I'm sure it states we have priority usage. It's PR ignore it.
The point is, you said - "focus of the article is aimed at ccfc" - which it isn't.
The article makes it clear it was a multifaceted decision.

What happens in two years time we'll have to wait and see, my own view is that
We will still be there with a slightly higher rent to pay.
