£25 for a season ticket, jsb membership for a year isn't really bad at all is it?

You would pay that for an invite to the parties on their own anyway.

There is no hint of unhappiness or anything in my question is there?

£25 gets you a free season ticket if taken up when buying a full price adult season ticket. For U13s only.

Wasps equivalent is free. U16s get to go for free with a paying adult. Individual games - no season ticket requirement.

A friend of mine, who is a football man but supports Leeds, has been to watch Wasps under duress because his Rugby loving 9 year old was visited by Wasps at the club he plays at.

You can get a free ticket to a match if a JSB with a paying adult. Don't have to have season tickets.

Free tickets to schools doesn't cost the club anything, or am I missing something.

Christ. Yes - as a company you'd record it as cost if potential revenue. Unless you've accursed database management - which Otis thinks you don't need - you also can't say going to an event like this would gain revenue.

So if you offered 30,000 free tickets your a marketing genius - you've sold the ground out - well done!

Give more kids tickets they will come with parents.More kids more support better atmosphere. Might just get one or two hooked.

Will they? Do you have any evidence? Should they not offer free tickets anymore and pursue this strategy?

On here people always quoted free ticket given out by Wasps what has been the increase or decrease in their gates since they have done these promotions does anybody know.

The free tickets are for seats that would otherwise be empty, and don't they have
to be accompanied by a paying adult. ?
Years ago when Norwich were getting crap crowds, they used to do dad & lad for
A quid, although at the time it caused some bad feeling from full paying supporters
There's no denying it worked.
Whenever I go to Carow Rd now it's notable how many of there fans are in there
Early twenties, I don't think this is a coincidence

Well I believe they get better crowds now then when they were in wycombe.
They do still give out tickets I believe, as it has been said on here numerous times.

You little liar. Never said anything of the sort and you know it.

Grendel spin overdrive again.

You're clearly against the club promoting itself. Why is that? Do you enjoy playing the victim?
He does indeed. Always taking a contrary position and always trying to put barriers up.

This is a thoroughly decent thread to start and if you look through it I think you will only find Grendel totally against it and declaring it pointless. 'Pitiful and embarrassing' to use his own words.

Surely all any of us want is for the club to promote itself the best it can and do as much as it can to make its presence felt in the community and the city of Coventry.

Grendel is always pissing in the wind and ends up splashing himself in the face.

The Daley Thompson quip is another example of taking up a ridiculously contrary position.

Wonder just how many people besides Grendel would describe Daley Thompson as a jack of all trades and master of none.

It really is laughable. :)

Promoting this club as best we can is something we should all be talking about, so I commend this thread to the house! :)

The clubs PR is not brilliant, I can't see how anyone can say differently. However to try and pick apart the differences between CCFC and SBITC compared to Wasps and their charity arm just seems to be searching for a stick to beat the club with.

The issue for CCFC is what can they do with a limited budget that is cost effective. I can't imagine there's many people in the city who don't know the club exists so past going into schools and local clubs, which they already do, to get the kids interest what should they be doing to draw back the older fans?

Should be doing both, Dave.

Securing the next generation of City fans though has to hold great importance.

The youth and gaining there interest as early as possible, are the future ot this club.
Yet in all of this there's no mention of the fully booked kids party with queues round the corner and increase in kids season tickets?

It's the same as when there was a massive thread before about it and the person moaning had no idea about it.

Think as has been said already though, Nick, times have changed. What happened before is irrelevant.

There is a new threat in town and they are Wasps. Goalposts have moved. Some kids will be football through and through and will not be swayed, but there must be an awful lot of kids out there that could be swayed one way or the other.

Free tickets to a Wasps game and a few goodies and they could be hooked to rugby rather than football spectator wise.

If this wasn't the case Wasps wouldn't be doing it, but they clearly are. They are trying to target as many as possible and the kids are always the future of any sporting club.

What do you mean what happened before? I am talking about while Wasps have been here?

Season tickets for kids have gone up this season haven't they before the season has kicked off?

Said a few times before, I'd much prefer they targetted the older fellas couped in care homes around the city. (they already do target kids, schools, kids sports teams, kids in the community etc)

Even since Wasps have been here the goalposts have been moving haven't they?

When Wasps first came there was no talk of their setting out to destroy the football club. There was no talk of their taking over our academy location and both clubs were talking to each other on seemingly relatively good terms.

Things have changed greatly and the situation become a lot more urgent in many people's eyes.

I'm sure no one will object with the club reducing the player budget by 5% to pile in £100k+ into SBiTC in order to hand out flags at community events...

What has that got to do with my post about the kids party and kids season ticket numbers rising though?

Just picking up on the what happened before. Doesn't necessarily have to coincide with before Wasps came.

Which kids party are you talking about?

The one just gone, I bet this year it will be bigger numbers again.

I am not talking before Wasps came, I am talking about now. Haven't they said the season ticket numbers for kids have gone up this season a fair bit as well? (might have misread or misheard that bit though).

I still do think (from a personal perspective) that instead of something like Bedworth park handing out flags it would be better spent hiring a coach and doing a lap of care homes to pick up the older fans. Said it a fair few times.

1. Imagine being sat in a care home all week, then a coach comes to pick you up on a Saturday to take you to the football.
2. Have a couple of old faces lurking about (sort of like legends day) for them to mingle with the old boys.

That sort of thing is a win - win, those people will have kids and grandkids.

It both looks good, and it genuinely will make people happy.

Yes, kids are important but at the moment I think other parts of the fanbase are more overlooked than kids.

Yeah, maybe, but then I do find the older people are the more set in their ways they become. And didn't realise you were talking about the Coventry City kids party!

My dad used to go up every week from the 1940's to the 1970's

You could now offer him a seat and a hundred quid and he still wouldn't go.

Do find a lot of people get more stubborn and set in their ways as they get older and are therefore more likely to not be swayed to go.

Kids are very impressionable.

That's my take anyways. :)

I'm sure you could convince some from care homes, but feel the numbers would be so low it wouldn't justify the time and effort.

The thing as always though is that kids are impressionable but then the parents still have to do a little bit to make it happen. I know 2 or 3 kids last season who's team were picked to wave the flags, walk around the pitch and they were all given free tickets and a tour of the ground etc. 1 of them is now CCFC mad and has got a season ticket with his dad, the other's dad is a Man Utd fan who went to the Crewe and Gillingham games and moans that tickets are too expensive but has no quarms about banging down the overpriced warm pints and then £200 in the casino after :)

I agree with Tony I think it was who said they should spread a bit further afield than Coventry, they may already but they could do their bit in Bedworth, Nuneaton etc. More a case of do what they are doing already.

My daughter has moved to a new school, on going there one of the things the headmaster said was that CCFC go into the school and do after school clubs etc so will have to give her a nudge to go to them :)

I'm all for trying any initiative though, so maybe it could be seriously looked at.

Was only an idea, I think SBitC do go into care homes.

I just think a coach full of the older blokes taken to a game to get them out of the care home for a day may do them the world of good.

People keep banging on about the kids, in my experience the kids get a good treat already and as a parent it is value for money for a kid to watch football.

Another thing.

Have people seen many kids walking around town / playing out in Wasps gear on non matchdays? I am by no means on the road all day around Coventry so not the best judge but have never seen a kid walking around anywhere in a Wasps shirt yet.

Yeah, I agree.

You may have to force them onto the coach with cattle prods though.

The humane alternative would be to do the carrot dangling trick but use Werther Originals instead.

Yep, seen some, but would say the vast majority have been adults and then a few teenagers.

I know Wasps are going into Bablake. Have seen their flags up there a few times, but then Bablake has always been more pro rugby than football anyway.

The thing then is that their sons and daughters then see how happy it has made their / granddad. Maybe the dad or grandad wants to go again, so their son or grandson would need to take them instead because it was a 1 off that the club did it.

While they are there, they may as well take the kid along with them to go to the game with their dad and grandad.... Then there is the chance of 3 generations going.

People will then talk about how it was great seeing their dad / grandad so happy after the day out (depending on if we win that is!)

Yep, the private schools are all over it.. Same with King Henrys.
