This is a Cov City fan site after all, so of course you are going to get a backlash for any criticism of the club, constructive or otherwise. On here it is the same posters who are most offended by said negative comments too. I used to number amongst these a few years back and would do anything to defend or promote the club.
I can still see both sides of the debate but there are quite a few depressingly valid points in the OP and most cutting of all is I also believe our owners have no ambition past League 1.

It isn't about being negative.

It isn't constructive either, it's made up.

They do have to put the money coming in into their accounts don't they?

They probably will do, but when do our accounts actually get filed so we can see them ? For several seasons we were a couple of years behind, according to the Football League. Not seen Deleted member 5849 or OSB mention accounts recently so this may have improved.

Yes I get that, but it probably isn't a million miles from the truth and it is what so many are thinking in the City now. The club diminishes a little bit in stature and importance to it's citizens every year because of all the off field news and lack of real progress on it
. On saying that people are people though and a winning, exciting team a bit like the bunch who performed so well for a few months last year will still put bums on seats whilst it lasts.

People think it, because people shout it like it is fact.

Accounts for CCFC (OEM & SBS&L) to 31 May 2016 have to be filed at Companies House by 28 February 2017. I doubt they will be filed earlier than that

All these "undisclosed fees" are bollocks. In what other sphere are limited companies allowed to sell their assets without having to inform their shareholders and publish it in their accounts submitted to Companies House?
It's a fucking scandal, and needs to be looked into by the appropriate regulator.

Actually they do disclose the sales in the same way as any other asset when sold in any other limited company. What you don't get is an individual break of each sale but you wouldn't get that if they were selling off plant or equipment either. It is all within the Companies Act Rules

That said it would be more transparent if say at the end of each season details of all transfers had to be disclosed - doubt it will ever happen though

People think it because the club stinks of it, it's as plain as the nose on your face, it's
just you you and a few others who refuse to see it.

No, people think it because people who shout the loudest seem to have no idea about what's going on (see the one about people being outraged about undisclosed fees for example). Then there is the made up scare mongering stuff. For example there was a guy the other day going on about SISU laundering money FFS. People lap that sort of shit up and tell their mates, then they tell their mates.

What do I refuse to see?

WHAT DO I REFUSE TO SEE ?
Th e general demise of our club, but more importantly the cause of the demise.

On another note Nick I seem to have lost a load of likes, is it for bad behaviour ;)

Ah, so because I don't go along with the mentalist shouts and made up scare mongering I can't see things?

Maybe I am just more realistic about being in league 1?

Sometimes when you know your right, but find yourself in the minority, it's actually
because your wrong. ;)
Was it bad behaviour then or not ?

Yes, because I spend my time removing likes. How many did you have before? Maybe they haven't moved over to the new site.

Yes, I was in the minority about Thorn and was wrong then too. I was in the minority about Pressley months before, oh look what happened there.

If you have a look at majority and minority stuff with CCFC, it isn't always best to just follow the crowd.

Nick there's no doubting your love for the club, or knowledge about team affairs, you just
come across as a bit blinkered when it comes to our owners, obviously bought about by
their association with our club.

I don't know how many, I just noticed a couple of weeks back I had about the same
Amount as I had a few months ago, I think .

Blinkered in what way? What should I believe that I don't? What facts are there that I dismiss?

I was "blinkered" when I pointed out how shit Thorn was months before everybody else, but surprisingly it was the most anti sisu people who failed to see it because he was some sort of anti sisu icon. The same as people think Joe Elliott is.

Maybe I should be getting angry about Vincelot being sold (Mowbray said it was his choice), or undisclosed fees (the same as pretty much every other club)?

Loads of transfers are undisclosed, people try and make out it is only us.

Some of our fans live in this dreamworld where every other team in League 1 is spending millions and millions and they all treat fans to full rundowns of accounts. It is almost like they have no idea about us being in league 1 and what is generally going on.

I just get totally dissalussiined by the continual negativity and snipping at the club, manager & owners.

We are no better and no worse off than most in Division 1, unfortunately. It's past so called investment (spending large sums of money that we haven't got and therefore borrowed) that's put us into the situation we're in today.

You can go back to the early 90's just check the losses incurred year on year, along with other clubs we cannot go on continually losing vast sums of money.

Optimistic and looking forward to the season, in Mogga I trust!

When SISU arrived they never intended to buy the Ricoh. They never intended to build a new stadium and they never will.

I think the point is Nick is that the club appears to many to be in permanent decline. When I get asked from friends who support other clubs about our future and what is going on now, it is very difficult to paint a picture of "wait and see, things may improve".
For what it is worth, my view is that the club has been in decline for years and is continuing on that path. The owners have little or no interest in the playing side.I just hope it isn't permanent, and one day they will leave and we can rebuild.

Your a strange sort RFC you get totally dissalusioned by people's understandable negativity
toward the club, yet are positively upbeat when the owners moved the club to another town.
Oh well.

Anybody else find it ironic the original post was mate by a member called "Afanforlife", maybe he should change his name to "a fan until we sell an average midfielder to another league one club"....

This is the same old bollocks people were saying after not winning a pre-season game last season and we all know what happened after that.....

People need to get a grip, we're not bloody Barcelona and like it or not we have to sell players to free up funds, its what happens, and has happened for donkeys years, this isn't new.

I'd prefer to look at things as we've got possibly the best manager in the division, a couple of players I'm positive are going to shine in Jones and Gadzhev, and a couple of weeks left of potential transfers until the season starts. If we get the likes of Reid in and perhaps another couple of exciting players who knows what will happen next season.

It's not all doom and gloom folks :)

Whilst I have always advocated living within our means you are not correct on the losses

In the 10 years from 01/06/1990 to 31/05/2000. CCFC lost 30.34m (even made a profit one year). However in the year of takeover the losses for the group were effectively written off 100% but showed on the individual companies. That meant the deficit accumulated no longer existed except in paper form because of the way the deal was done. Creditors were written down in value by £35m. That means that SBS&L effectively started with a clean sheet of 0

Since buying the club (approximately 8 years 5 months ago) they have to date accumulated a staggering 56.99m in losses and that doesn't include the 2016 accounts figure. Our current problems have very little to do with the figures in the accounts from the 90's - although I would certainly accept the actions and strategies of owners/directors contributed to the mess SISU inherited. However after over 8 years it should be very difficult to blame other regimes, but it is still an excuse some seek to hide behind

Hard to stay positive after a decade or more of failure, best you can be is hopeful

You seem as comfortable with mid-table Div 3 mediocrity as you were with the new stadium forecast, 9 years of SISU stewardship and they've been unable to turn the club around, no optimism for the club whilst they are still here

Presumably we wont get to spend the money we received for Vincelot. We will only get the profit we made i.e. buying price minus selling price. If he was sold at a loss, we'll get nothing. In fact, we may have to sell another player to make up the loss.
