Thorn will be sacked today surely? (11 Viewers)

Let's not forget that we were all hoping AT got the job. If SISU employed someone else we would've all slagged SISU off for 'not listening to the fans' so we can't say SISU employed AT because they don't care

Don't really get what your point is regardless whether SISU appointed AT with or without the support of the fans we are not winning, that is the only thing that matters. We are stuck with the players we have atleast for a month and probably after that too. We need points nothing else.

I am listening to the fans who want AT out, but I don't understand the reasons fully. We are in this position because of SISU, not AT. We saw what he could do with just a few quality players. He knows what type of player he needs. He can't have them though. All the previous managers that have been mentioned started with a better squad than AT now has, and were allowed to add to it.

If we got a new manager would the players not scoring goals suddenly start scoring goals? Would the players making mistakes that have cost us more points than we have now suddenly stop making them mistakes?

We have not been outplayed many times this season. We are not playing as bad as our position says. If AT was given the cash that the players were sold for we would have a decent side. Yes, he is a good scout. He will know the players he wants and needs. Not his fault he can't have them.

Finally, what decent manager would want to come to us? He would either need a miracle or be known as the manager that took us down.

Back the manager, back the team. Stand back and think about what is going on if you think he should go. Or when you are at work next try doing your job with inferior tools for the job. See how well you do. That is unless you are a miracle worker.

True... but he had managed Bangor city for four years previous to going to Scunthorpe with a win ratio of 61%, he also was only caretaker manager at scuthorpe and was given the job due to the success he achieved ..... Thorn has show no apptitude to being a success in the role.. and i dont want to hear hes nothing to work with.. i think hes a decent bloke but he does not have the tactical skills or motivational drive to get the best out of the team

Give Jose Mourinho or Sir Alex a team of children and they'll lose every week too.

Try we need a bigger squad. We need better players. We need investment, not players sold and not replaced. We need SISU out. All of these points will lead to points.

AT is doing a decent job trying to play football the correct way; he can only work with the tools he got. BACK THORN OR BACK OFF

so your saying it dosent matter about who the manager is we will lose every week?... managers are employed to get the best out of the players in the squad.. if they cant they go .. whilst i agree our squad is poor, i believe someone else could achieve a better win ratio of 17% and do we just kep shrugging our shoulders saying he,s doing the best he can whilst we are already 7 points adrift.. we have to try something different.

Didn't Alan Hansen once say "You can't win anything with kids" when Ferguson bought in a new crop of youth into the first team all in one year, I believe UTD won the league and cup that year.

Not every season you have Beckham, Scholes and co. as your young players though

Fergie didn't just have an incredible crop of kids, he also had the core remaining experienced players with glittering CV's, a huge team of coaches and other specilized backroom staff, and one of the best 2 transfer budgets in the country. Any comparison between us and them really doesn't wash.

I wasn't comparing our two situations, my point was his statement that Ferguson would lose every week with young players is flat out wrong.

He probably would with our squad, though!

This quote always does my head in. The 'kids' were all over the age of 20 when Hansen made the quote, most of them were 21 at the time. Ours are a few years younger and far less talented

Get wearied by all this now.

There are however absolutely signs that Thorn is a good manager. We expected a relegation battle, we are however even worse off than that with a 2nd from bottom position and our being 7 points adrift. Don't recall anyone on here saying they were expecting us to be 7 points adrift by the end of November.

So is it AT's fault that the players he has to keep playing make mistakes that cost us goals?

Says who? :thinking about:

What a weird reply. Players are making mistakes. The manager is making mistakes.

Well if Clingan is passing without looking (Something Poyet identified) shouldn't Thorn identify this as well and try and coach it out of him or at least be aware of it.

If people are making mistakes because of miss communication isn't that something Thorn should be encouraging on the training ground and constantly reminding them about.

Quick question. Why are more going on about AT out than SISU out? Hope SISU gone before AT

But besides this I would point out these facts;

1. Haven't seen a a single poster on here say Thorn hasn't made any mistakes.

2. The players are also making lots of mistakes and many of those are beyond AT's control.

But how come anytime anyone makes any criticism of Thorn whatsoever the only response that appears to come back is "Look what he has to work with." Looking at what he has to work with has absolutely nothing to do with many of the mistakes Thorn is making, such as not doing his homework on how Blackpool play before we met them for instance.

People have been saying Sisu out all season long and continue to do so. As the performances have got worse people quite rightly have begun to question the manager.

The Sisu out calls still persist. Don't see your point. For Sisu it has always been a case of 'want out,' with Thorn people gave him a grace period, but the fact is that we are doing worse than any of us predicted.

Yea there are some mistakes that can't be controlled Juke's penalty, keeper mishandling etc.
But there are also things that can be done on the training ground to minimise mistakes.

Pretty much all you hear is griping about SISU. That won't stop. It doesn't mean that AT should be free from responsibility, though. He's a poor manager and deserves to be fired.

Agree with you in terms of the Clingan thing for sure. If Brighton identified it then you would think his own manager would to wouldn't you.

I think we should give Lee Carsley the job.

SACK THORN

Watching Blackburn's protests against Steve Kean today made me wonder what it'd be like if we could emulate even half that effort at our joke of a board.

Instead we have fans calling for the manager's head. A bloke who has had the piss taken out of him as much as we have!

How embarrassing.

I think the Blackburn fans are very unfair on Kean tbh. If they could tighten the defence they would be ok.

No I completely agree, was just using it as an example. It seems to be a very personal attack doesn't it? You'd think he'd pissed on the town's signpost.

Thorn may or may not be a good manager, and may or may not be getting the best out of the players but the fact is he is not the weak link here. The squad is. And that is down to the hopeless mismanagement of the club by SISU and certain brightly coloured people.

Asking thorn to prevent relegation is akin to asking someone to not come last in a Formula one season with only a go-kart to race with. It wouldn't matter if Vettel or Button or my gran were driving. And it is the same here with the squad he has to use.

He may well be making mistakes here and there but he is a novice manager and will improve with experience. What we need is investment and backing for the team. Whilst SISU is here that will not happen.

SISU OUT!

AFC Coventry: Hardly a fair comparison. Bothroyd and Coleman were supported with money and bought several senior players. All Thorn has is the players who's contracts had not already run out + the academy.

Its probably playing into SISU's hands tbh. But, in Cov's current position the fans are bound to be annoyed and looking for 'the culprit' and a quick fix remedy and that isn't going to happen. Maybe Joy Seppela is the real villan.

Not having a go here, but on what authority do you say he will improve with experience? What if he proves himself to be a poor manager. We had the honeymoon period and he has shown nothing since to show he has what it takes. He could improve with experience, he could prove to be a complete failure as a football manager. We don't know, but none of us can say that he will improve.

Unless of course you have next Tuesdays Euromillions numbers.

Just the same as nobody can say he won't improve with better players and a decent size squad so there is competition for places

Fair enough. I'm not stating he will improve but this is effectively his first season as a manager and he is a rookie. Generally, people will improve at any task with more experience.

The real point here is that i do not feel he is the deciding factor in our current dilemma. The lack of squad is....
