After such a whimpering performance today, is this the worst ever City side in our proud history?

not sure about history.

I would say "worst" is unfair, but certainly the least experienced that I can remember.

How does Thomas start ahead of Tudgay I can't understand that.. Thomas scuffed two chances wide in the first half that Tudgay would put away. What does the guy have to do to get a start ! Poor summer from Tony Mowbray.

Worst over reaction in history.

We lost because we didn't put our chances away rather than bad defensive displays.

We had 4 strikers who signed over the summer on the pitch today. That will get overlooked.

We've never scored less goals in a match, ever!

Certainly the most inexperienced, too early to say whether it's the worst. Even though we clearly were poor against Swindon, there were flashes of promise. If the 'six' players that Mowbray has promised are in fact bought in, our team should be relatively competitive. With graduates such as DKE, Harries and G. Thomas fairly able to hold their own in League One there's potential for our squad to be as good if not better than last year as long as new additions are bought to fill the gaps.

Not confident with Haynes in that left wing back slot, think this is an area which TM should be looking to improve simply because Haynes struggles defensively. Could TM possibly convert him to a left midfielder? Clearly has the attributes going forward and isn't improving the defensive part of his game so I'm unsure why TM hasn't experimented with this.

Clearly need another striker and a winger. There's just not enough strength in depth in these areas. Kwame Thomas needs time to adjust and get fully fit so we can fully see what he is capable of. G. Thomas isn't quite ready to start yet as shown in his performance today. Extremely lively but lacks that killer finish that we obviously had last year with Arma.

Think Harries is too young to be a starter yet and Ricketts was never supposed to be starting every single game this season therefore the defence needs a big shake up. 2 CB's are needed really. With Ricketts, Harries and Leahy as back ups I think we should be fine.

Thought DKE played a really solid game, even though I only listened on the radio I noticed he constantly seemed to be involved and more often than not was doing the right thing when called upon. However would it be logical to rely on him all season? Burn outs are common with young player so I certainly wouldn't mind if 1 of the 6 incoming players was a RWB.

These incoming players will clearly need to be versatile. In an ideal world I'd say we needed 2x CB, 1x LWB, 1x CM, 1x RWB, 1x Attacking Mid 1x ST. Hopefully these are the kind of positions TM will fill in the next coming weeks because from the performance today it's clear that they need to be sorted sooner rather than later before we continue to drop points

I'm not sure its the least experienced, surely tbr one which had bigi, Thomas, Gary gardener, Nathan cameron and Cyrus Christie was less experienced... In outfield terms. Willis and Haynes have 50+ games, jodi Jones has played 40+ first team games, it was only only harries and DKE

People are clearly forgetting the McAllister era, as NW alluded to. I'm sure we had a team of 6 or 7 academy players playing at one time or another, inc. Jay Bothroyd, McSheff, Pipe, Mackay, Betts, Pead, Barrett, Giddings, Quinn, Bates, Noon.

I've not seen a team look that poor in a while. At least usually when we've played poor we create chances and by chances I don't mean a deflected shot that luckily hits the post or an awful shot that finds its way to another player who skews it wide. We were awful today! One player that surprised me was Gadzhev, he was shocking. Missed tackles, misplaced passes, and just generally looked lost in the middle of the park, all the play passed by him. Judging from what people said during pre season and also Kieran Crowleys comments he was set to be the best player but in my opinion today he looked like a lost child playing his first game in the middle of the park. Hopefully that was just a blip for him. Need some signings ASAP!!

Very poor team, no depth or strength and no investement from our owners who are cashing in on everything not tied down.
This will be a long slow season

It is more of a poor performance rather than a poor team? We will get in some reinforcements, calling it the worst team ever is really harsh

Disagree. Although we had inexperienced players our team as a whole wasn't. For example the year that you're referring to (2011-12 relegation team) this was our squad vs. Blackpool when we drew 2-2.

Murphy
Keogh
Cranie
Cameron
Hussey
Bell
Clingan
Thomas
McSheffrey
Jutkiewiz
O'Donovan

Whilst a fair few young loan and academy graduates were used, it was nowhere near as inexperienced as our current side

For some reason TM doesn't trust Tudgay, more likely to be a fitness issue, but a half fit Tudgay is more a threat than a full fit G Thomas

I think the one v Worcester City in the Cup with Reda Johnson as captain was worse in fairness

Thomas, Cameron, Hussey and O'Donovan were all very inexperienced at championship level at that time. Then we had Bigirimana, Christie, J Clarke, Nimely and Norwood who all played fairly regularly and also inexperienced

Jordan Clarke and Nathan Cameron had actually played a fair amount before that season. Unlike Harries, DKE and Thomas who haven't played more than 20 games between them.

Whilst all the loanees, Bigi and Christie were inexperienced they played ahead of the experienced players in the side because of the lack of quality we actually had. Do not forget the likes of Baker, Wood, Platt, McDonald, Deegan, Eastwood, McPake being in the squad as well

In terms of first team games played that team possessed far more appearances between them than our current squad. Irrespective of what team was fielded, how can you say our squad is more experienced now than it was then?
