Did he have a good game?

He should have put them 1-0 up in the second half in the only time he got forward but in true fashion put it high and wide.

Difficult to say overall since he played in defence, which we didn't test him in that position half as much as we should have done.

He didn't stand out for being dreadful as he did here, but that's often the case with ex players playing against us.

Still an awful player in my view though, just in case anyone suggests we should have kept hold of him :D

He didn't really have a lot to do. Reid skinned him a few times. All our attacks started with Jones down the other side really.

He's a better player than Andy Rose.

I'm still angry about that bradford game where we were under pressure and holding onto a draw I.Think.

The ball was running out of play in the last minute in their half after we had a counter attack. Instead of letting it run out, or whacking it into the stand to help it so we could get men back he back heeled it in, to their player. They broke and scored.

Fucking hell, seriously? What about fucking Jordan Clarke who needlessly hand balled it and gave away the penalty.

That was the 3-3 draw with Pressley and Parkinson handbags

I think there's a good footballer in there somewhere. Not sure what the issue is though, haven't heard anything about his attitude or commitment being a problem.

He definitely needed a move. Hopefully it kickstarts things for him. My biggest concern would be the amount of time he's missed with concussions. That's the sort of thing that can reoccur.

Well having an end product is part of being a good player and when you are central midfielder you are expected to have some end product and chip in with some goals.
Exhibit 1 Claude Makelele
Exihibit 2 Sergio Busquets

Yes they are in another league to Thomas, but you can have good midfielder players that don't score many goals

Yes, they are holding midfielders. I wouldn't describe Thomas as a natural holding midfield player, Thomas was supposed to be the box to box type midfielder. If you asked people what his best attribute was it would nearly always be his engine or his athleticism, not his defensive reading of the game or tackling ability

He might be a box to box midfielder but how many times has been deployed as one? He got into the box under thorn, but under Pressley (the only time he really had a run in the side) he was deployed as a defensive midfielder in a 2 with fleck, to allow baker, moussa, Clarke, Wilson and Christie to bomb forward. I wouldn't call john fleck a defensive midfielder, but that's where hes played for us under Pressley and mowbray.

I get what you are saying but I don't think you can blame his lack of productivity only on the system. Last season Fleck and Vince each scored 4 times as many goals as Thomas did in his entire career.

I think you're forgetting john fleck scored just 1 in 97 appearances across 13/14 &14/15 seasons so the system can undoubtedly impact on someone's lack of productivety if they arent allowed to get forward. I don't even think Thomas is that good, and think we were right to move him on. I just don't think he is as bad as some make out, plenty of midfielders have a decent living without scoring lots of goals.

I'm not forgetting it, Flecks goalscoring record was also piss poor and not good enough across that time. For about 18 months of those 2 years you've mention he was poor and it was one of his biggest criticisms by many. The system plays a part but also the individual must take responsibility (whether that is Fleck or Thomas it doesn't matter)

Comparing Iniesta, Modric & Busquets to Conner Thomas is like comparing Usian Bolt to Tanni Grey Thompson
