That's about right for me.

Some really encouraging performances. Stevenson and Vlad excellent. Haynes best game for some time. Reid and Jones made a real impact. Perhaps Reid deserved higher. Impressed with Harries too.

The first and second half (+injury time) were so drastically different I think they probably deserve separate ratings

RCC - 6/7 - Solid through out, make a brilliant one on one save to stop us from going 3-2 down

Harries - 4/7 - Looked really shaky first half but improved a lot second half. Looks a decent player.
Willis - 5/6 - Nothing too awful, nothing too amazing, just solid. Imagine he was taken off to make sure he's ready for Saturday?
Ricketts - 5/7 - Back to looking as decent as he did at the start of last season when he was playing CB

Rose - 4/6 - Not the best game of his that I've seen, pretty poor until we scored, good positioning for the goal
Gadzhev - 6/8 - First I've really seen him play and I was very impressed. Looks a similar player to Fleck, but already a better finisher. Unlucky to give away pen, looked a massive dive to me.
Stevenson - 4/8 - Took him a while to get settled, really struggled for the first 25 minutes but once he got a hold of himself he was excellent, excited to see more of him
Haynes - 4/9 - Probably our worst player until he scored and then it was like watching the Haynes from that Gillingham game in 2014 again. Brilliant second half. Imagine he'll keep his spot for Saturday now.

Lameiras - 5/8 - Pretty eh first half but he really came into his own in the second. Linked up nicely with Jones and Reid, and set up Gadzhev brilliantly. Would have scored if not for an excellent save from their keeper late one
Tudgay - 5 - Not really his night
Thomas - 4 - Looks shot of confidence and a bit out of his depth, shame as I like him as a player

Jones - 9 - Changed the game. This lad is something special.
Reid - 7 - Really like how he runs at players but his decision making and the timing of his passes looked a little poor.
Finch - 6 - Better than I remember him being.

RCC - 7 - didn't do much wrong, he is still too calm but that save towards the end and the catch right on full time (it was probably harder than it looked)

Harries - 6 - Didn't do anything wrong, I like how he plays the ball into the strikers feet. First half was Thomas and then Reid.
Willis - 5 - Didn't do much wrong and didn't do anything of note I can remember, was solid.
Ricketts - 6 - Calm through the game, noticed he was a bit more vocal and giving the lino some stick.

Rose - 6 - Had loads of space at RWB and I think with some experience there and some practise on his end product into the box he would do well there.
Gadzhev - 8 - Who needs Fleck? He looks the same sort of player but makes runs into the box and seems to have a bit of a rocket on him.
Stevenson - 7 - Started off really shaky, bad decision making but once the team grew in confidence he was spraying passes about, playing them round the corner etc. Does remind me of Maddison without the diving.
Haynes - 8 - Absolute dog shit for most of the first half, he couldn't kick it straight, couldn't cross and I was king of hoping he would go off when he was injured. After his goal though you could see his confidence shoot up and he was doing Ronaldo flicks every time. Once we had Reid and Jones he had a lot more space and could have had another goal!

Lameiras - 7 - First half he looked really slow, he made a couple of great passes into space but nobody was running onto them. Second half it looked like he had suddenly got some pace when Jones and Reid were on, took his players on like they weren't there and seems to have better decision making.
Tudgay - 5 - As below, pointless playing him front with Thomas and Lamerias as he is better with players off him.
Thomas - 4 - I think he has turned into the wrong shape for a footballer, he is too top heavy and reminds me of Martin Waghorn. He was so slow and slowed the whole game down, it was pointless having him on the pitch alongside Tudgay to be honest.

Jones - 8 - Did really well when he came on and it made all the difference. Their defenders stopped taking the piss and out running our strikers, he ran at them and wasn't scared to try and take them on. Noticed he does dive a little bit that made it OTT and is scared to shoot but that will come hopefully.
Reid - 7 - Didn't realise how quick he was, he just picked the ball up, turned and then went. I think between him and Jones they got a bit greedy as they could have played others in for clear cut chances but took it on instead.
Finch - 5 - Didn't really have too much to do. Didn't mess up :)

Cook 7 - perhaps dodgy positioning on the free kick, looks like he gambled on it going over the wall and got done
Rose 7 - think that position suits him better than in the centre, his technique isn't as badly exposed and he has the engine to get up and down the wing, also helps he is good in the air for attacking and defending those diagonal balls
Willis 6- soldi enough I think
Ricketts 5- did his defensive duties well enough I think but sloppy at times on the ball
Harries 7- an impressive performance, didn't look out of place with the physical aspect of the game and very good on the ball
Haynes 7- very good performance
Ghadzhev 7- some good diagonal passes and a well taken goal, looked a bit sloppy at times in his general play
Stevenson 7- very tidy performance, ran the game from 45 minutes onwards. Impressive
Thomas 5- didn't do enough
Tudgay 5 - same as Thomas
Lameiras 5- flashes of skill but think he missed two guilt edge chances and some sloppy all round play
Reid 7- you can see the skill and ability he has, not convinced about using him as a striker though. Does he know the position well enough? What runs to make, when to come short or when to run in behind? Will he be good enough with his back to goal?
Jones 8- changed the game when he came on, quality
Finch 6- not much to note except one comedy moment where he tried to straddle to Portsmouth striker

Overall very good performance, think we should have won more comfortably. Based on tonight Stevenson and Harries can have big impacts this year in the first team

RCC -7 couldn't do a lot about the goals that save with 1 on 1 in ET was something else (maybe 8 on that basis)

Ricketts-6

Haynes-8

Vlad-7
Stevenson 8 MOTM

Lameires-6
Thomas-5
Tudgay-5

Reid-7
Jones-8

In my opinion.....

Looks pretty much spot on for me. I would give RCC an 8, that save when it was one on one was something else.

Stevenson was my MOTM too. Was really impressed with Harries aswell so maybe an 8 for him. Jones looked really dangerous so definitely a justified 8 for him.

I was all doom and gloom at the end of the first half but things seemed a whole lot brighter at full time. We've got some skilful players on our hands!

Wasn't it Finch who messed up with a poor back pass to RCC?

Thought there is a lot of potential in Stevenson

Can't believe Lamieres getting a 5 from someone!

RCC - 7 no chance with either goal. One on one save might have won us the game

Willis 6.5 solid, didn't do much of note nor did he do much wrong

Ricketts 6 - not as assured anymore as he was when he first joined us (think it was his horrendous back pass but someone above saying finch)

Harries 7 - like this kid a lot. So good with his distribution and confidence on the ball. Dare I say he reminds me of a certain centre back who just left for 47million? Long way to go obviously but looks very promising

Rose 7 - actually thought he had a good game. Much better at RWB than a cm v Swindon

Stevenson - 7 if you asked me at half time I would have said 4. Was woeful first half and looked out of his depth. Really came into his own and sprayed the ball round nicely. Beautifully composed on the ball for such a young kid.

Gadzhev 7 much improved on Swindon performance. Penalty looked a dive although I could be wrong

Haynes 8 - ran the wings all game with questionable distribution. Second have kept cutting in on his right and he actually looked much more diverse and unpredictable. Even managed the odd bit of good defensive work!

Thomas 5 - not horrendous, not good either. No one was in that first half. Works hard but can't help but feel nothing will come of it when he's on the ball. Also side note his first touch (although not bad) seems to bobble a lot but stay close. Anyone else noticed this? Maybe I'm just strange.

Tudgay 4 - big fan usually but dreadful today.

Lameires 7.5 linked up so well with Jones in the second half. Great feet and vision, would love to see him as CAM in last seasons formation, can get isolated when not linking up with similar minded players.

Jones 8 - kid looks absolutely class. Not looking forward to saying goodbye next summer

Reid - 7 looks promising. Can run with the ball, powerful and skilful. Not afraid of shooting. Could be a bit hit & miss.

Finch 6 - was worried when he came on. Didn't do much to concern me, with some neat passing into midfield

RCC 7- brilliant save in the 2nd half, not sure it was bad positioning it was just a very good free kick..
Willis6- steady game looked to be limping
Ricketts 6 - still not convinced with him, didn't win much in the air and distibution was a little slack at times
Harries 6 - still not seeing what others see in this lad, I am scared everytime he gets the ball because he makes some ridiculous passes but he brought the ball out and passed it to players feet instead of hoofing tonight..got caught out of position on numerous occasions..still young though
Rose 6 - Had plenty of the ball all game but never really done a lot with it despite being in promising positions, looks too slow for me but well taken goal
Haynes 8- started off lacking confidence but made some good runs down the wing, his final ball wasn't that good then all of a sudden he chips in with a goal and he was a different player, I think he got the assist for the 3rd goal if he can improve his concentration and cut out silly errors he would become a half decent player
Stevenson 8- I like him a lot twists and turns on the ball and passes well, he was a slowish starter tonight but his confidence just grew and grew, he linked up well with Ghadzev and Lameiras...looks a better prospect than Maddison for me
Ghadzev 8- I like our Bulgarian man, spraying inch perfect balls to either wing and took his goal very well, slotted some nice thro' balls through tonight and Stevenson seemed to be on the same wavelength together, he did disappear for short spells but maybe that is fitness
Lameiras 7- for his 2nd half performance about 3 for his 1st half, looked sluggish in the 1st half but then all of a sudden he came to life TM must be really frustrated with him because he has lots of skills its just trying to bring them out of him consistently, good assist for Vlads goal
Tudgay 5- Wasn't his night tonight, not sure where he was even playing half the time, no real pressure on their defence pretty pleased when he went off
Thomas 2- cannot find anything decent to say about him truly shocking tonight

Jones 9- The reason I have given him MOTM is because when he came on at half time he actually looked like he wanted to play, he ran at their defence and they must have thought they had an easy game tonight until he came on, he did try to do a little too much at times and lost the ball but looked a threat every time he got the ball
Reid 8- Another one who upped the tempo for us, turned their defence and gave them something to think about, probably made the wrong decision over passes a couple of times but provided more of an attacking threat than Tudgay and Thomas put together
Finch 6- would have been 8 but when he tried to ride their player the ref copped him, steady enough when he came on

TM 8 - made the correct 2 subs in Jones and Reid, also spotted Thomas was having a mare and hauled him off, thought he would have done the same to Lameiras but fair play he kept the faith and to an extent Lameiras repayed a little of the debt

RCC that really was a superb save to stop us going 3-2 down, positioning for free kicks ? mmm Oggie imho you need to work on those
Willis solid, awake, & aware, keep up the good work
Ricketts keep talking, a mature performance,
Harries, well we don't want praise heaped on him, because the dim wit megalomaniacs will offload for a pittance
Rose, looking progressively more assured
Gadhzev, if you wanna mess with him carry on, but he, with confidence, could be the motivational force we've been crying out for
Stevenson well we don't want praise etc., etc., as Harries etc., but as Al Green sang, 'A Diamond In The Rough' the bloke near me, who'd had a tipple or three, said, he's a bit like Bobby Moore, i looked at him, but i could understand what he meant
Haynes, a-ha, well i posted before that he had many attributes that you could pin upon him as a striker, fast, acceptable control, tall, & just needed top sharpen the 'shooting boots', i was accused of being on something, aagh i wish, anyway, thought he was, along with a couple of others a motm candidate
Tudgay & Thomas i felt, found it hard going as Paul Cook had obviously had words with their defence to rattle them immediately
Lameiras is an enigmatic footballer, who has so much natural talent & could perform tricks as a circus performer with a ball, the cry from the fans being to 'give it some oomph', or, just increase awareness of the game
Jones & Reid came on & imho put the proverbial shits up the portsmouth defence, well played both,
Finch, as sub, started to look reasonably assured,
only my opinion that is but,
err Haynes could be a striker, ....................... waits for the appropriate

Two players I have to highlight that shone were Stevenson and Jones

Stevenson like someone said is Maddison esq, he can take the ball on the half turn and spin away from players in tight spaces. His passes were never Hollywood and he was neat and tidy all night. Really hope to see far more of this lad. One area he could develop is his awareness in the early exchanges he was closed down and seem not to realise players were on him. To go to the top he will need to work on this, but am so delighted after the madders situation we had another on the production line.

Jones for a teenager he has pace guile and a cutting edge, looses the ball a fair bit (high up the pitch) but I can totally forgive that as he gives us such an offensive edge. Great piece of business by CCFC.

I hope Jones isn't sold in January Stupot as I sincerely think Mobray would walk too IMO. Same goes with Stephenson as he will only improve as he gets more play, people are seemingly giving young G Thomas a hard time on other threads and yes he most certainly didn't shine, think the lad needs loaning out to a league 2 side to gain experience, I'm certain the boy will come good then

Rcc 7 - that save from the 1-1 in et was class
Ricketts 7 didn't look as fit as last season and it's only game two which is worrying
Harris 8 thought he looked class on the ball. Looks really slow though
Willis 7 looked quite sharpe
Haynes 7 started off really poor scored and then was a diff player. Might just have saved his career with us seeing we'd signed a replacement that day
Vlad 8 motm
Stevenson 8 top stuff for a full debut
Lam 6 same old
Thomas 5
Tudgay 6 should have scored first half with that header and rebound

Jones 7 - was very lively but not a lot of end product
Reid 7 as above.

I don't think RCC & Burge in goal together would have got jon the same postcode as it!

That save though I can't be the only one as he went to go past him it looked as if he had gone past RCC & in the split second in my mind he had finished it & it was 3-2 them, next thing the ball was behind him, was rather surreal!

Seriously? Those two were at the heart of everything second half. To dismiss Jone's performance as simply 'lively' does him a great disservice. Yes, he'll lose the ball on occasions in advanced positions - but that's his game. Much rather he ran at people and took risks then play it sideways. Pompey didn't know how to handle him and in the end put two players on him and that created a lot of space. Massive players for us. Just hope when he has that odd game where things don't go right for him people don't start writing him off like they did with Kent and Murphy (although I think Jones has more to offer than either of those).

The space for our wing backs was shocking in the second half. They had acres.

To be honest he looked to have a better end product than Kent, even if it was just looking up and playing a 1-2.

They were all pretty much showboating to play the clock down and they couldn't get near us.

120 minutes & they didn't pick Haynes up before he was 20 yards from their goal once.

If that had been us defending I would be going bonkers.

Haynes played well last night & I would imagine TM told him to go prove himself, Haynes couldn't have asked for a better opposition set up to make a mark!
