I guess we will need to see what actions will be taken to prevent it next time.

Chris Anderson must have authorised the fiasco tonight. Agree completely with Bear 83, if he couldn't work tonight was going to be a disaster then he shouldn't near our club.
Agreed ! never trust any fecker where their national sport is rounders !!

The thing they did wrong was not opening cash turnstiles earlier. I'm sure you will find cash turnstiles for Saturday's match then we can all moan about the pound again.

Yeah it would be suicidal not to, even if they have a couple of extra just to be safe to show they are sorting it and reacting.

He's had over 6 months, and I'm certain this is not the first time !

Yeah you're right but that was the first home game of the season under Ticketmaster and it has shown some major flaws so let's hope now they can be rectified

I saw a few look at the queue and turn round and walk off can't afford to have this happen. But obviously difficult to just do it on the day needs to be organised today or tomorrow and let media know

Fuck sake, he's apologised and said they'll look into it and some are still moaning. Unbelievable...

Its happened several times in the past and will again. he has apologised. There isn't much more that will happen. Just accept we wont get it right and move onto important things.

But this isn't rocket science is it, I know fans can be their own worst enemy turning up at the last minute etc but it still isn't good enough. I hate to say this but how do Wasps manage ? Don't remember too much moaning for their full houses v Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints.

I don't think they would have a bulk of people turning up at the last minute without tickets.

Also not seen much outrage about them using Ticketmaster and the teams they play against not.

It doesn't matter how Wasps manage. nothing to do with us. As you say, fans can be their own worst enemy. Get there earlier

No problems at Wasps matches so perhaps we should consult them on best practices.
However I don't see its a major fix, just wonder why they thought that it would work in the first place.

Out of interest, how do Wasps work Pay on the gate? Literally just hand over the cash and walk in or do they integrate it into Ticketmaster?

Many people on here predicted this would be a problem, so if CA is surprised at the chaos then he should not be.

IMO the club should maximise ways of paying to make it as easy as possible. That means:

1) lots of cash turnstiles
2) turnstiles where you can swipe the debit card in a "tap and pay" way
3) plenty of windows at the ticket office for both buying and collecting tickets
4) ability to ring up a human being in a Coventry ticket office (not a call centre) and pay over the phone
5) easy option for paying online to upgrade your ST to include specific cup games or an option for all cup games, so no queuing
6) ability to buy tickets online and print them yourself.

I think 3 and 5 will be sorted. They should have been on the cards for last night but TM has screwed up. Apparently the ticket office last night was fully staffed also.

The e-ticketing will be a help too!

The frustrating thing is that this was predicted, people were warning this would happen. When they announced the t/o would be manned by up to 5 people it was obvious they could not possibly handle the walk-up for a cup game where many people would choose to pay on the night. Everything is so reactive rather than proactive with the club.

It's not worth getting hysterical about. It happened, and they will have to deal with it. Fine. But equally, to brush it off and say 'get there earlier' is the sort of indifference and arrogance that has blighted the club for years. If everyone had arrived 30 mins earlier, they'd have stilled queued for the same length of time. There were people who had paid in advance, who arrived at 7pm to collect tickets who still had to queue for 30 minutes.

This isn't difficult. The club is over 130 years old. You'd think we'D have mastered the art of selling tickets by now, especially when we're getting gates of 5000. This isn't moaning for the sake of it, I regularly defend the club against unwarranted criticism, but that was shambolic by anyone's standards.

As far as I am aware there is no pay on the gate.
The ePrint system is an good option for late bookers.
I knew I could make it on Monday but would not get back to Coventry until 6.
I did see mention of an option to print my ticket on purchasing process but at no point did I see the option to take it either in check up or my preferences.
I decided to get down at 7 rather than chance buying a ticket and queuing to pick it up, particular as the club had stated they had upped the ticket sales staff.

I know none of this will be easy for the club, but the point is that it needs to make life easy for its fans, not for itself.

So 5000 odd then, it beggars belief, 5000 and can't get them

You were asking about how to order the tickets the same time I actually ordered :) Mine came 2 days after!

eprinting should help a lot, if people are at work in the daytime they can just order and print them out at work to save the hassle. I dont think ticketmaster had it live for last night :(

It could have been helped if the season tickets had been sent just a week earlier.
I would guess that season tickets holders like myself get more frustrated when we have to queue.

Yep, would have been easier if TM just had sent them out and put Portsmouth onto them.

I noticed all of the scanners were covered up on the turnstyles also.
