Thing is, it will be the club's fault even though they didnt say there would be any....

Making huge transfer news headlines doesn't help anything.

I think when CET stated "we ARE expecting signings", I should've taken that with a pinch of salt.

No doubt we will sign people over the next 10 years but I guess it was too much to hope for them to sign by lunchtime today, as was kind of intimated.

Always the clubs fault. Why do people believe anything they hear from that bloody chip paper

That's what I dont get.

I can understand if it is the club making statements saying signings today etc.

Imagine if the Telegraph put a headline "signing world cup superstar" and it didn't happen, who's fault?

It is like the telegraph are just saying BIG TRANSFER NEWS to get people on the site. It's a shame the club can't tell them to do one!

I just wonder how many targets TM's either missed entirely, have signed for other clubs or the owners have said "no, not enough funds available". Or if we actually don't have the wage budget they said we do! Scraping the barrel at this stage surely? Far too late IMO, should have been signing players weeks and weeks back.

Why would people come to our games and play for our under 21's if it was about the wages? Surely they would have a brief conversation before flying people over from America...

owwwwwww PLEASEEE

The condition for me to get a season ticket was that we had a serious squad.

We don't, and the deadline is today.

Should we have a good squad by September, and season tickets come back on sale, i'll get one. At the moment the club haven't done enough for me to part with my money.

The owners have nothing to do with giving the nod on whether a transfer target can fit into the budget or not. That's a decision for TM and MV to make, always has been

Let's hope its just a formality and players are in come the traditional 5pm time slot.

I have renewed my season ticket regardless now, I was faced with watching my beloved Sky Blues on a Saturday afternoon for £345, or spend time with the wife! Safe to say, that £345 is an absolute bargain not having to talk to the wife on a Saturday afternoon.

3 points tomorrow!

I think it's down to Mowbray.

He'll get a good enough team in I think, it's just whether the points we 'may' drop in the meantime are worth it or not. In my opinion he has dithered so far, even if he was was his idea to be patient for better players, to be so light at this stage was certainly not part of the masterplan.

As I said, I won't be parting with my money until I'm sure there is a competitive squad there. If they don't extend the deadline it's tough shit, I might realise I missed out later. I'm just too apprehensive with this club to be anything other than untrustworthy. When Joe Cole signed I had to read the article about 17 times to believe it...

But that is football and happens all the time. Especially as you go down the league's. When you are talking wage cuts and 1 year contracts location can become an issue. Dundee United this summer tried to sign one of the top strikers over several seasons from a Scottish lower league club. At 28 he didn't want to go full time as a player because he was an electrician.

It's not as simple as pick who you want and sign them.

So the telegraph was all about clicks again. The club didn't say there would be signings today did they? Did Mowbray?
I'd have liked a couple in today to be honest, but anyone believing the telegraph is a fucking idiot.

Rather than someone who comes on an internet forum and starts dropping insults at people? I'd say that was pretty childish.

I've stated my reasons for not getting a season ticket, and they're fully justified, even if you don't agree with them.

As someone who is trying to save for a deposit on a house, and a wedding, I think you'll find you're more likely to be the spoiled one, parting with no doubt someone else's money other than your own, for a product that isn't good value for money (in comparison to last season) at this time. That's, I'm assuming, why you don't get it.

No, the club didnt say anything. Thats why I usually dont get too excited unless its a "signing at 5" announcement from the club.

You think a season ticket is worth getting at the moment, and worth the money. That's fine.

Even, you'll acknowledge the team isn't finished yet. £345, even with finance, for me is too much money to justify at this stage. I'm just stating my point of view, as it's an internet forum about Coventry City and the whole point of it right?

I haven't said anything nasty or trivial, so stop being silly.

Well as no new blood is coming in looks like we have to go with what we've got. Only think that concerns me is that we cannot rely on Willis and Ricketts week in week out otherwise we're going to end up with a lengthy injury list.

TM obviously knows this and won't like it anymore than we do. Clearly transfers have been a lot more difficult to get over the line than last year and that's just unfortunate. No fault of the club, TM or the owners. It's just football I'm afraid. All we can do now is be patient and get behind the squad. We all know it's thin, we all know we are lacking in quality in a few areas.

CET need to stop this ridiculous habit of treating every single day like its transfer deadline day because it's pissing everyone off, me included.

Best of luck to the team tomorrow. Let's hope we get 3 points

The question I was pointing towards was whether TM has struggled to convince players to come, or whether the people telling TM what his budget is have limited him more than originally thought. I'm not sisu bashing or anyone bashing here, just wondering how many TM has failed to sign and where that reason has tended to lie.

The club do have their own site to counter rogue reportage. They have made some misleading or perhaps more accurately statements that haven't come to fruition. Personally I think people are making too much of it.

Of course they want to get people on their site just as you do. I would suggest you get the benefit of increased traffic on here because of their speculation, so don't complain too loudly about Newspaper speculation.
