The Sky Blues have made their sixth new signing of the summer, as the Saints defender pens a three-year deal…
21-year old defender Jordan Turnbull has joined the Sky Blues from Premier League outfit Southampton for an undisclosed fee.
Turnbull started his career within the youth system at Swindon Town, before later joining Southampton’s Academy.
The 6ft 1” centre-back spent consecutive campaigns on season-long loans at the Robins, appearing 51 times during 2014/15 and a further 46 times during 2015/16, making him one of the most reliable defenders at the club.
Turnbull has also featured for England’s international youth team setup, having represented the young Lions at Under-19 and Under-20 level.
The defender is set to take the #4 shirt at the Sky Blues and will be eligible to feature for the club from Saturday onwards, as City take on Bradford.
Technical Director, Mark Venus said: “We have identified central defence as a position we needed to strengthen and Jordan was a player we have tracked all summer.
“We are pleased to have signed him on a long-term contract and this is a demonstration of the commitment the club are showing.”
Coventry City Manager, Tony Mowbray said: “I’m pleased to get the signing of Jordan over the line, as we continue to strengthen the squad for this season.
“Jordan played twice against us last season and impressed me both times with his accomplished performance; both in possession of the ball and defensively.
“He will strengthen our options at the back and I am looking forward to working with him over the course of the season and beyond.”
