We won't struggle this season , once Mowbray has completed his signings and used his contacts to find a couple of gem loan signings like last season we will be flying again .Only this season the squad already looks to have more depth of quality too it

No wind up here , we've obviously missed out on targets but unlike previous managers there has been a plan b/c/d instead of the usual scattergun approach .If what you said about the " mighty Finn " is true then he could be another gem like Turnbull .
Last season we had loan players like Armstrong , Murphy , Kent ,Cargill and Stephens .... If we get anywhere near the standard of them then I honestly believe we could run automatic promotion very close .

Also don't get the negativity behind signing McBean and Smith with a long term view to improving them , we have a cracking academy ( for now ) and if we can sign players with a long term plan it just makes us stronger in the upcoming seasons

Having seen Tudgay for the last few games he just looks too slow in this system we are using, we need pace and he just slows it down

Don't get me wrong I am not trying to knock Tudgay, he seems a decent guy but not really what we need...big shame for him

Completely agree. More suited to last years formation where there was an option for the lone striker to hold up play for the attacking midfielders to get further up the pitch. Looks out of his depth slightly in this new look formation

The thing with Tudgay is that if we have the 2 wide players he needs to be in the box.

He always seems to be on the edge of the box when they cross it in.

I see what you mean.

I still think he is a useful asset to come on with 15 minutes to go if we're trying to hold on. Seems to have the quality to get us over the line, lead by example, and even defend too, when it matters.

Noticed that in the Portsmouth game. He'll knock the ball up for Thomas or Lameiras and will just stop. He doesn't seem to bother providing that further support by making a run and trying to get into the box

That first half Saturday was very clear we need someone in the box, the amount of times we got in good positions but we had no one in the killer area.
I've previously stated on the Tom Pope thread as being the ideal man to be waiting in the box but I really don't think he suits the formation were playing right now and had the pace to required. We need a big quick powerful player with the tricky JJ and Reid playing each side of him.
Hopefully sordell will come good tho

Jones seems to be the talisman of the team this year. He changed the game against Portsmouth and the game changed against Shrewsbury ,when he came off. This allowed the shrews to press and it stopped our roll the ball out slow build up. While were not a danger in the box we are going to hve to settle for 0-0 or may be pinching it . That being said these lads are learning each others game. Im going for a good display and a result (1-0). Dissapointingly small crowd!

Don't want to sound negative but does anybody think we are in for a struggle this season?

No, i don't think we will struggle, in fact I've been pleased with the young lads coming in from the academy, Stevenson, Spence and Harries have really suprised me.

1-0 City win.

McCann to make it all click, Reid and Jones to scare the defence with pace and trickery. Willis to score from a corner.

2-0 City.

Fuck the Council.

Just checked, it is

Maybe he is going to plan for pace off the bench.

Hopefully Thomas can prove.doubters wrong

Weird he has put Haynes in, would think he would want to keep things settled. Let's hope haynes has a great game again

I think the rotation will be here to stay. TM made a lot of comments about games being Saturday - Tuesday - Saturday for the first few weeks and not wanting to put too much strain on some players by having them play every game.
