Seems to me he wants someone to come in and get mediate. Certainly wouldn't do any harm. If, and lets hope it doesn't come to that, Wasps won't negotiate then there will be little choice but to leave Cov.

I'll stick my head out and predict a few seasons at Rushden and Diamonds old ground.
Interestingly the proposal to knock it down has been withdrawn so a nice little ground not too far away sits empty and waiting. No doubt their council will welcome us with open arms and work with us and not against us.

The problem with that us we left last time to build a new stadium.
We came back temporarily whikst we build a new stadium. This was all nearly 4 years ago.
We haven't even bought a patch of land.
At what point do the FL say no sorry we now know that you are but building a new stadium. So sorry you can't move 35 miles away again as then you are a franchise

The only reason we came back was that the council saw us as a sweetener to the wasps deal so made it happen.No more no less.

Thing is the FL won't really want to kick us out of the league so are likely to use their discretion again. It also depends on what evidence SISU put in front of them.

According to Kieran Crowley (after he left the club so no reason for him to make it up, equally we have no way of verifying it) the club holds documentation showing they had two potential sites with of which were outside, but very close to, the city and both of which fell through following pressure from CCC.

The FL were also involved in the Butts plan. That's publicly documented that the council moved to block it as soon as they found out about it.

That's all going to work massively in SISU's favour if we are kicked out of the Ricoh.

I honestly don't think the club could survive another relocation, if a deal isn't reached

Also what do the council have to gain by stopping a new stadium been built on the outskirts of the city?
Wasps business model works without CCFC. I get it when ACL needed the club and the Ricoh may sit empty, but now?

Well if there was a deal in the works I assume there would be a paper trail. If there's anything in there relating to CCC applying pressure on the seller then that would surely be enough to satisfy the FL.

The FL are always going to come down on the side of the "integrity" of their competition. It would therefore be expected that they would back the club against most other third parties and most circumstances.

I know everyone focusses on Wasps hiking the rent up considerably but there is an alternative scenario I can think of if they believe that CCFC might try to move outside of Coventry (assuming they are bothered by that) which could test things. If they offered pretty much the same deal as now or even a 50% rent rise, on a ten year rolling contract, plus the option to negotiate the buy in of other incomes. That would place the headline rent below average rate in L1, tick a box for the FL (10 yr + deal) and at least appear to put a dent in CCFC's argument about other incomes not being available wouldn't it?.

If the deal were something like that would the FL sanction a move elsewhere that could seriously reduce incomes/profitability at least in the short/medium term. Wasps would still have the other incomes and an improvement on the lease covenant. CCFC would still have the prospect of retaining crowd numbers (the major match day income). CCFC retained in Coventry with a glass ceiling on income but a budget better than most potentially in L1. Would also put a dent in the claim "we are being forced out of Coventry" which would make it harder for FL to sanction a move away. Ball firmly back in CCFC/SISU's court

Sorry if I have missed previous discussions, or if this is too far off-topic for this particular thread, but the new Jag-promoted enterprise park development on the south side of the A45 near the airport will have space for a nice little stadium. It's in Warwick District, so CCC can fuck off, and when Tollbar is finished, it will have great transport links (at least by car/coach).

As an aside, this is one of the biggest issues if Wasps end up successful - it removes one of the constraining factors that stops clubs just picking themselves up, and bogging off wherever as they'll just have to look at precedent.
