I'm not advocating sacking mowbray, nor am o saying Presley shouldnt have been sacked it was the right time for him, but I saw these stats on Twitter and thought they made interesting reading.

Interesting, although I assume that means we still have to enjoy a decline over a few games until we reach Pressley's final game total in charge of us?

It doesn't matter who you play, after a loss like that he should offer his resignation, whether the board choose to accept it is another matter

His team selections and substitutions are becoming increasingly confusing. Mowbrays big attribute over Pressley was his recruitment and look how that's gone this year..

Misleading as they don't show Pressley full stats, it is only looking at the first 68 matches where Pressley was in charge 100. If we go on an awful run for the next 32 games I'd expect Mowbray to go.

If I was TM I'd say stick this shit job up your arse! I'm off!!
He's had no backing or support simple. There is no manager out there who will do a better job with the tools to hand. He needs support from the board or he club will inevitably sink into league 2 at best.

The team he has last year should've gone up. He's spent money on players both years and clearly had an acceptable budget as his contract discussions were lengthy. He's certainly not as good a manager as people say but I wouldn't be sacking him just yet.

He's the best at this level that's for sure. We had a great first half of season last year but yet again he needed backing to strengthen in January. It was clear from mid November the kids were faltering and needed support. He had no backing and had to get in free has beens.
You say spent money both years.... Vincelot and jones baring a defender in turnbull last week. Hardly burning cash and wasting it.

People keep banging on about his tools for the job and lack of money etc. (Not sticking up for SISU here) but............ he has the same tools and budget as he did last year!! Only difference is, is he didn't release our entire squad last year and replace them with inexperienced kids.

I cannot think of anyone else who would get the job done with what we have and situations delt.
Just maybe he's struggling to sign player as people don't want to come and play for our club that's commonly known in football as going down the pan

So you all think burton, Walsall, Barnsley and Scunthorpe had better budgets than us? They all finished above us last year. So surely their managers are more able than Mowbray.

While I partly agree with you on the releasing of some players we should of kept in yours on my opinion. But how many wanted rid of the likes of Arron Phillips, John fleck who was a average league one player in most eyes on here. Did we also really want to offer new deals to Hunt, Henderson, MAF...
We're in a tricky position of being a league one club that's wishes to improve its playing squad by recruiting better players also on a free.
We make the difficult decision to look for new players.... We try to get them but loose out unfortunately as we cannot offer the terms or have the location they want to live in. It's a tricky game I'd imagine and frustrating for TM. Reality is were short now and days run out to get them in. Sign of our times!

Exactly Mowbray let go of Phillips and Martin because he thought he could get better. It's not sisu's fault he hasn't.

A manger picks the game plan, it's up to the players ability, desire and mental strength to get the job done. The fact we have no natural leaders is a major factor, and will prove even more so this year I fear.
As for the teams you quote...
Burton came up as champions and had a settled winning side with the winning habit.
Walsall were a good side with some players that have gone on for good fees and to championship clubs.
Barnsley sacked there manager and transformed there side that then went on a freak winning run which bred confidence.
Scunthorpe also sacked there manager if I recall and have the all important striker in paddy madden, goals will win you games..
Do you sack the manager... And hope a new manager comes in and whips them into shape. Personally I don't see it.
When mark Robbins left pressley came in and never set the team a light did he.

The manager should pick a game plan to suit the players he has.

You don't sign a winger if you don't play wingers....

Agreed, was he a first choice signing tho or a desperation signing and the markets running dry and close to what he ideally wanted.
TM must of had the 343 as his chosen formation in early July so he could install it into his team over preseason. Recruitments clearly not gone to plan but with game after game in August maybe there is no time to reshape with what players we have to suit us best. Maybe, I don't no.

Yea I'd say dean smith, hasselbaink and Lee Johnson who built the walsall, Burton and Barnsley sides of last season are probably better managers than mowbray at the moment. Probably why they all got snapped up by championship clubs.

Scunthorpe I think fluked it with a good run at the end to finish 7th, have to see if they can challenge this season

It doesn't explain why he also takes wingers on trial, when we don't play them.

I don't think it can be put down to desperation, this was at the start of pre season.

I don't no to be fair. Maybe a traditional 442 is his more preferred formation, only issue is we didn't have the defensive personnel to cover this at that stage of the season.
Maybe time will tell if he's given time or sticks the job out. But it's a massive week ahead now for the rest of our season.
One Criticism I do have of TM is I think he set his targets possibly too high for what we realistically could get and needed to get us out this league. Was this his own doing or players and agents leading him on. I feel he should of done better tho different story if he pulled the targets off.

They were sensible enough to go to well-run clubs, too.

If anything shows you're a shit manager, it's being stupid enough to take the CCFC gig in the first place.

Was that SP's stats that led to him getting sacked or just his stats at this same point in time?

Aaron Phillips has been shite for Northampton according to their fans.

And the defence hasn't exactly been the issue thus far has it.

But we have only have one right wing back and he's a young kid? Phillips should've been kept even if it was for back up. We haven't replaced Aaron Martin who was superb last year, we will regret than decision when injuries start to hit the defence. Jim O'Brien was let go and I think he'd easily be in our first team currently. Then of course he let go of romain which he claims was his own decision. I don't even need to explain why that decision was stupid if indeed it was his decision.

While I believe we should of kept Aaron Phillips and most defiantly Arron martin would the results so far in the league of been any different? Till Bradford the defence has held its on tho we have no back up which we desperately need to go a season.
How many on here wanted Phillips to stay? Was not many calling for him. But I felt he would of been worth another deal to compliment the squad.
Sure Martin was a blow to also not be offered a new deal and its not been good Weve not been able to replace him and we will never likely know how many defensive targets said no thanks to us. We've just signed a defender in Turnbull for a fee likely to be made up from the vincelot money plus maybe some from the budget. Time will tell on if he's any better than Martin.
Jim O'brien was coming to the end of his deal and while he had fight and spirt was he that effective? He didn't shine for Shrewsbury. Vincelot we may well miss yet TM felt it was right to wheeler deal in him.
Baring those I don't think any others who we chose to let go would of made any impact on the start to the season we've had.
It's goals and creativity were lacking and strength and depth to the squad. We're light in numbers in defence and a little imbalanced over all.
I've said it earlier the next 8 days are massive now for our season with the new transfers rules.

Agree with all of that apart from the RWB. Andy Rose finished strongly in that position last season and started there this season. Though his injury we now have Dion Kelly-Evans. Kyle Spencer played very well there pre season and I think you could even argue that if all three of those were injured, Jordan Willis could fill in there if needed.

We're largely playing far better football under Mowbray. Pressleys' team was dire to watch. We've been so unlucky already this season, better team against Swindon conceded with 5 minutes to go, better team against Shrewsbury, went down to 10 men and could have lost, as well and Bradford, best team all game until the sending off, then that crazy 10 minutes with 2 pens and a screamer from them. A couple of more signings and we'll be challenging. I think hes the best manager we've had in years.

The performance went downhill more after he replaced Agyei with Tudgay than as a result of the sending off. Midfield didn't appear to know what Tudgay needed them to do with the ball. But Pressley's team with Wilson and Clarke up top played some fantastic football. And so did we on Saturday for first 30 minutes.

Notable that it was "only" 2-1 until about the hour mark last night. The team don't be able to sustain a performance beyond that. Is it tiredness, or just a lack of concentration for a longer period?
