Spending millions on one player would be a sign of insanity not ambition.[/QUOTE]
Fit in well with our owners then.:)

If we cannot get the ball to the front players effectively then that's what will make his decision! The later part of last season showed him what he could be in for and I think at this stage of his developement he needs to be in a team of consistancy
To be fair, we aren't too bad getting the ball up the pitch, watching swindon and shrews game, it's just there's no one to play to ball to :(

I actually agree with this. While our midfield were firing in the first half of last season he was playing very well. But just think of how many of his goals came from 1v1 opportunities, a lot of them. He knew where to make the runs and played the last defender well, but we had a midfield who fed him. He just had the quality of finishing we needed. We also had a solid defence which meant, for a change, teams had to attack us creating space on the counter.
Now? We have none of the above. A shaky defence, means less attacking pressure from opponents, less space for AA to use. Midfield is much weaker, far less creative ability so I can't see him getting any service.

If he came now, with little other reinforcements, he will probably be more a 10 goal rather than 20 goal a season striker in this team, as the second half of last season proved, he can't do it all on his own. We still need more.

Don't get me wrong though, if we can sign him then fantastic, a quality finisher and just maybe he will gel with players like ruben, jones, agyei and forefront a surprising attack force.

I can't remember Armstrong scoring that many 1v1's from a midfield through ball, a lot of his goals were from distance or created by himself

Unless its to CCFC

I wouldn't be surprised to see him go on loan say to Preston score 12/15 goals have a decent season, Newcastle go up don't need him back then due to the length of his contract sell him to a championship side next summer for £10million or something ridiculous.

Have it from a pretty good source close to Ipswich, they are very keen and hopeful
Of completing a loan deal early next week. Wanted to get it done sooner aparantley
But had to wait until his new contract at NUFC was sorted out.

Sometimes I feel like the only person on this board that doesn't have a close connection to someone at a football club somewhere!

Adam Armstrong will do no good in this present City team, last year he had the added pace of Jacob Murphy and Ryan Kent taking the weight off him notable AA dipped a bit when Kent returned to Liverpool and Murphy went off the boil

I was feeling a bit like that - but I just realised I coach my son's under 7 team in Somerset... I just heard our keeper (4ft) has been snapped up by Barca for £2 mn. Can't tell you the source but he has been to Spain on holiday in the 90s.

My feeling are I hope he has a great career and gets a good shot at being a Newcastle hero and adored by there faithful. He come across as a good level headed lad who seemed pretty grounded.
He was a one season wonder for us who was a breath of fresh air and gave us something we was not expecting, a exciting player who was clinical in the early half of season, scored great goals and gave us belief we'd win most games.... Enjoyable home games and away days!
I honestly never in a million years believe we have a chance of getting him back ft another season, and if he did I don't think we play the way that would suit him. He'd have to play in one of the wide positions of the front 3 and I don't think that's best for him.
He's a memory now, and a bloody good one too. All the best arma!
I think this side needs a 6ft plus young target man to link play up, but he needs to have AA's pace. This team is crying out for pace and physical presence up top

Mick McCarthy can't handle seasoned pros, I fear he will not assist AA's development, except in handling abuse from the manager!

Very clever signing by Newcastle by the way. Murphy will go a long way to getting them out of that league

Seemed to do well with Ryan Fraser? Eddie Howe said that he would get minimal game time in their maiden Premier League season, went on loan to Ipswich and now has started their opening two games. Progressed Teddy Bishop to a first team starter before he was injured. Made Tyrone Mings into one of the hottest prospects in the Championship after signing him from non-league Chippenham Town for £10,000. Aaron Cresswell is now on the fringes of potentially being called up to the England squad after a number of assured appearances for West Ham.

He seems to get the best out of players in my opinion. This even includes the experienced Daryl Murphy who has just been sold to Newcastle. If you look at his record he was relatively average in front of goal until the 2014/15 season at the age of 31.

All entitled to our opinions but where's the evidence for yours because it seems to me that McCarthy is excellent in developing players?

Rafa would be mad to allow Arma to join a team who could easily finish in the championship play offs this season.

Not if he was guaranteed a championship premium quality striker and had to give them a unknown championship quality player in his place in the short term.

Ironically, about as close to a win win for both clubs as you can get
