So when I first saw this yesterday.
Haskel was getting called every name under the sun.
As a rumour had gone round that he walked up to some random Cov fans and called them 'mugs'
Then I saw a Twitter post from Haskell effectively saying it was bang out of order to be abused by a couple of Cov fans whilst he was signing autographs.
So I sensed he had been provoked and thought nothing more of it. Now I see the latest that he has abused disabled fans????
Are we really saying an England international Rugby player has walked out amongst the Cov fans and abused some disabled people calling them mugs?
I am going to take a huge leap of faith here and take a total guess.
I reckon Haskell was signing autographs most likely with families.
I think some angry Cov fans have more motivation to have a pop at him. Than he is motivated to randomly abuse them.
I reckon they gave him some abuse and yes he called them mugs.
I would say in the circumstances if that's how it went then they are mugs.

That may very well be the case but he's a professional sportsman at a public event representing his club, he shouldn't be responding like that.
If it was one of our players who had done it there would be outrage and it would be all over the Telegraph.

So if two Cov fans go over to Tudgay tomorrow and start giving him abuse as he is with families signing autographs.
He then turns to them and calls them mugs.
You would expect there to be outrage and it to be all over the CET.
Well I tell you for now I would be ranting on every social media platform I could get on defending Tudgay to the hilt.
But then again I may not be the best person to give an opinion on this because I thought that idiot at Crytsal Palace got what he deserved from Cantona.
So calling someone a mug in the face of abuse is hardly going to have me jumping up and down.
I hate idiots who give it out then cry foul when they get a little back.
It was the same when Ian Wright half mooned us. When some fans were singing stuff about his wife.

In a busy public place has there been an eyewitness report saying he was abused and provoked into his response? Not that I know of, if he was then I'm sure we'd have heard about it by now.
So I'd say it sounds much more likely that Haskell was over sensitive and had a massive overreaction and took offence to someone asking him 'you're not from cov you're from London aren't you?'

I disagree with you. If the Tudgay scenario happened I don't think the CET would be lynching him.
I think they would say it as it was he was provoked and responded by calling them mugs.

What makes you think that? Off the top of my head look at what happened when Kilbane had a go back or Reda went to a Sheff Wed game or Maddision tweeted back to fans calling him a snake. That would indicate to me it would be reported on.

Yep, interesting he only tweeted after the rumour on twitter that he called fans mugs started going around. Nobody else has said they saw or heard the abuse though, trying to save face I would suggest.
He overreacted to a nothing comment and then put that on twitter afterwards to save his rep, seems pretty straightforward what happened.

Not that people in the public eye don't ever make unprovoked verbal attacks on people but...
They're generally rather more trained in social etquette.
And it just doesn't ring true that somebody pops up and starts abusing people, without there being *some* reason for it. What would be his motivation to pop out and call City fans mugs? What would he get out of that? Why would he decide to do that, proactively, on his own free will?

I know you guys probably couldn't care less, and appreciate your angst (though I think it's wrongly directed).
James Haskell may like the public limelight - but there is absolutely no reason whatsoever he would have a pop at some CCFC fans, for no reason whatsoever.
He was absolutely instrumental in winning the recent test series 3 games to 0 against Australia, putting his body on the line - which is exactly why he's walking round with a boot on, in the first, having broken his toe but even then, he kept on playing.
That saw England rise in the rankings, second only to the All Blacks, in the World.
If only the England football team played with the same passion and dedication, rather than looking like they couldn't be arsed. We're are we now - 13th in the rankings?
The biggest laugh is Wayne Rooney is paid more in a week, than I think nearly all English Rugby players (if not all) are paid in a year - so you'd think the team would have a little more drive, pride and passion.
Anyways - I digress. I'm convinced there was more than a little provocation, as this was totally out of character, off the pitch. On the pitch, possibly - but there is just no motivation!

Neither of us were there, I've already said earlier in the thread I have no idea whether its true or not, neither do you.
I also have no idea what was said to him or how it was said to him, as I wasnt there. Then again neither were you. Mind you I don't like the way he calls him "an insane old man".
Its got nothing to do with whether I hate wasps or not. I would be expecting the same scrutiny had it been one of our players.
It is funny though, there seem to be no witnesses either way, but you have chosen to believe him rather than the city fan. I would assume, the truth is somewhere in between.

I just look at the situation and try and take my bias out of it.
I don't like rugby, I don't like Wasps.
I don't give stuff about James Haskell.
I imagine until yesterday he probably didn't give a stuff about Coventry Fans let alone hate us.
Yet a lot of Coventry fans hate Wasps. Some people know how to handle that hate others do not.
You are right neither of us were there. So we can only listen to the accusations and make our own assessment based on what we hear and what is more likely than not
