Cov have conceded 15 goals in 8 games (forget to mention that 6 were against Norwich and we won't face that quality in league 1 and 3 against Bradford after we were down to 10 men). Go on to say we will concede 90+ if we continue like that (but as above we won't face a team like the one Norwich put out every week).

I might be wrong but i thought Stokes was still injured, CT article reads "With proven League One performer Chris Stokes waiting in the wings after a lengthy lay-off".

Trying to make a story out of nothing, i quote again "Loanees from Premier League and Championship clubs will come and go - often at the expense of Coventry City's own youngsters' development. But, had a late departure for Willis transpired, Mowbray could have been this morning left seeking a free agent to vill the void left by the last remnant of a fruitful generation for the Sky Blues Academy. Be thankful it didn't, and Mowbray wasn't".

Same could be said for any club, thankfully so and so never left (the point is they did not leave) or you could have had problems replacing him.

Even worse "talkSPORT presenters chipped in, urging Championship sides to take a look at the versatile defender, with some rumours surfacing which suggest a Willis departure will be the only business Coventry City get up to on August 31" well we never sold him and brought in 2 more players (please, no more posts about them being young, not first choice etc, i'm on about the CT not player recruitment).

and last but not least "We'll never truly know whether there was a possibility Willis could have left this summer (you can imagine, though, that a move would have materialised had the right club with the right amount of money rang Ryton at the right time)".
Again same for any club in any league, had the right club with the right amount of money" came in for a player they will be sold. Thats not news or gossip, thats just bad reporting and trying to stir up shit.

What really annoys me with this article (and the CT seem to be doing more and more like this for clicks), is that more people read the CT than places like here (the casual fans), it's articles like this that will wind them up not knowing the facts and stop them going to games.

For clicks the CT are helping to demoralise our fan base. If they atleast interviewed the right people and pushed home the questions we all want answered i could forgive them for exaggerating storys for clicks. But either they can't get the answers (in which case don't make them up (your not a fans forum), people believe what you print) or they can't get the interview in the first place thus making up drivel like this.

All your doing is helping to destroy the club your reporting on, destroy it eneough then no more clicks as no more fans.

CT, try to build a positive news feed about the club. Try to help the fans want to come back, don't just make up negative stories.

Sorry about the rant, but this really pissed me off.

It is all about clicks, most aren't journalists just content writers so they just re hash things.

They know that getting people worked up generates interest.

Just have to look at the Adam Armstrong articles and the comments they get.

When Simon posted on here I asked about things being misleading, his answer was that it was down to people how they interpret things.

Wasn't the talksport bloke the one who started the rumour?

I think the person at Talksport was the idiot moose who's knowledge of football wouldn't fill the back of a fag packet, all that fool talks about is West Ham a twat follower of an arsehole team.

Look at the way they pushed that protest..

You mean like they printed posters in the newspaper (or put them on the CT website so that people could print them off so that everyone knew what was going on and could join in. lmfao

Exactly.

These people's jobs depend on getting clicks, they know people want to be angry.

Look at how Simon played the fans about his book launch.

If anybody says something, they all just say conspiracy over and over, even the editor.

Another example is how they bang on about signings, then when they don't happen it's the club's fault. The club had never said a word.

Simon often mocks threads on here, maybe it's because people don't blindly follow the rubbish and ask questions.

Shortism (is that even a word). Piss the fans off enough then they will stop caring, then you have no readers left to piss off, just like the club will have no fans left. CT highest interest 1987, when the club won the FA Cup, extra paper printed to profit on (but we loved it). Come on CT, help build the club up (teams wise) and you will get more hits as fans will read every report after a win, defeat and most think fxxK it.

New team, improving every game with several players now on longish term contracts. TM is trying to build for the next few seasons, back him up. Enough scare stories.

Regards 87, it's so long ago now that promotion from league 1 to the Championship would get the same or higher hits and over many games during the season not just a one off like the FA Cup Final (ok from the quarter final).

Come on CT, don't use bad news is news. You will run out of sport readers, good news builds new fans and new clicks.

You can't misinterpret what they have posted above. About Willis going, if the day before or even on transter deadline day they posted it ok, maybe something in it, but this was posted after. Means he won't go anywere, but CT run a story the day after with no foundation to it anyway. We sold no one and got 2 more in. Not saying it's a great squad BUT lets see what happens when they get used to each other. In TM we have to trust, in the CT (we only trust if you report the truth). They could have printed "highly rated centre back to be sold", before the transfer window.

Stupid thing is we should be ok, loads of fans world wide (reducing, but still their), a manager looking ahead but not giving up on this season, (a local newspaper saying we are selling all our players so click here). Tell me, what is the one thing the club does not need.

Sounds to me like they were ready to go with the 'article' with the assumption Willis was going to be sold. But he wasn't so they did a quick edit and went with it anyway.
COVENTRY REACTS!

Aren't they just saying it as it is, reported possibility of him leaving which was true if you believed the rumours. They are saying the fact it didn't materialise is something to celebrate. Loan players come and go and aren't really part of the club. Where as Willis is one of our own and key to taking the club forward.

Okay it is not great journalism but it is not outrageous either. It certainly isn't as bad as the garbage talk sport comes out with. You would think only the Premier existed and Coventry were the only team to ever loan a player. They really are "wind up statement, give us a call" method of journalism.

I've only quickly read it to be fair, but the nice bits celebrating him staying seem tagged on and the meat of it is how the youngsters have moved on. Which I believe, they thought, would include Willis.
Fuck it anyway, they've got their extra click now so even this thread helped.

That's a great rant, like how you've pulled this shoddy piece apart line by line.
The CET product is dismal, scripted by lazy ****wipes who are as you rightly say, penning for clicks.....then edited by brummies.
Perhaps we shouldn't fret too much, nobody reads the thing anyway. The rag lost its credibility years ago.

Reading this you'd think running a newspaper/news website that didn't agree with the posters views & prejudices and published articles aimed at encouraging readership was some sort of crime.

The funny thing about this is that the only time they get a click from me is when the angry people on here about everything telegraph provide a link for me to click on. You must all be double agents or something ;)

Yeah it's pretty disgraceful and not really professional. But they need the clicks and need the business.

Who actually buys the paper anymore?

True. But you'd think good news stories are clickworthy as well? I'm sure the Ladies team won the FA Premier League a couple of seasons back, after going something like 23 games unbeaten. Not one mention in the Telegraph all year, but I remember one Simon Gilbert having a twitter tantrum with them for having the temerity to ask for a mesh.
No wonder it's sale of copy is near zero

My parents did for 30 odd years until last year but I kept moaning about how rubbish it was a Wasps propaganda sheet so in the end they gave up and cancelled it:finger:

Actually, because it's not SISU or CCFC probably not...

Do they come from Ticketmaster as well what a company you ewould think they would be able to send the couple of dozen season tickets to the paying ones.

Maybe ;)

Serious note, I came across somebody moaning on my FB page on a Wasps link for tomorrows game regarding season tickets. Had a closer look out of curiosity and saw many were moaning that they had received nothing.

Please, as I asked before don't make this Wasps, CCC, SISU etc. This is about the CT. Why no report saying we sold no one and brought in two (more) potentially good signings.
Why say we could concede 90+ goals if we carry on as we are, when we won't face the same class off opposition again unless in a cup. Why state "With proven League One performer Chris Stokes waiting in the wings after a lengthy lay-off" when he is still not fit. The article is just full of holes. But the casual walk up fan is reading this and thinking it is true, they won't come to a game as the local paper has turned them away (depressed them about the club).

We need more support not less and the local paper should spin it as "2 highly sought after players join the sky blue revolution for 6 months with a view to a season". They are on the fringes of Newcastle and West Brom's first team and come to us to help the promotion push". We managed to hold on to all our players so it's been a good window for the Sky Blues.

It may not be true, but it's as true or more true than what they printed.

Not sure of who it is, but I think the one who has it in for Cov on TalkSport support Peterborough (was going on loads last season how we were loaning promotion, yet his team only had one less loan player).

I agree with everything you said on here Nick except for people want to be angry. All people know now is anger as shit it's all they get, but I honestly believe that if we were doing well and the reporters gave us a good write up people would also love reading about a successful team and would add to the gate not reduce it. The CT influence the neutral fan more than anything else, (except for results on the pitch). If the CT put appositive spin on things whilst results are not going our way I bet more would attend as they would realise that performances are improving and we have hit the post, had 1 on 1s etc.

As it is, if you only read the CT you might as well slash your wrists as we are doomed.

Yeah he mentioned Cov again on Wednesday on transfer deadline day. Saying we had lots of loans and it's how we do it and Darren gough said "yeah and Peterborough" he soon shut up after that.

Completely agree.

I hardly read the paper anymore, particularly to do with CCFC as they don't half spin things like you say. Simon Gilbert being the worst offender.

When Simon posted on here I asked about things being misleading, his answer was that it was down to people how they interpret things.
Biggest disappointment for me was when it was revealed in court that the CT did a deal with CCC to suppress information relating to the Ricoh sale. There had been people on here suggesting the CT and CCC were pretty cosy on here and Simon would categorically deny it and suggest it was tin foil hat territory. Once that came out in court he never posted on here again and the CT never addressed the issue at all.
