Who should boycott Wasps? Wasps fans? What are you on about?

Wasps fans aren't going to boycott anything to save CCFC, quite bizarre....

CET should stop selling them advertising space

Probably as bizarre as CCFC fans bragging their first game at the Ricoh this season is to go and watch Wasps.

Firstly, it's the CT not CET. It hasn't been the Coventry Evening Telegraph for ages.

Secondly, they are a business and they are not going to turn down money from a professional sports organisation that play and invest in the City, whether you like it or not.

Thirdly, they have now played in the city for almost 2 season, those locals that go have already brought into their raison d'etre, are probably enjoying the experience of seeing top flight sport and are unlikely to be swayed by a few idiots on here.

The demise of CCFC is down to SISU, the clubs fortunes will not rise until there are gone. Boycotting any other organisation, isn't going to work.

Not on here I didn't. Have you been stalking me?
Nick, I wish more than anything that I could go and support the team I've supported since '69, unfortunately while SISU are in charge I'm not giving them a penny.
I still love my football team & I'll be back the very moment SISU are no more, until then I'll get my sporting enjoyment however I wish.

It's because wasps are playing today isn't it? Probably why peeler is up and active

What was the attendance at their game?

Nope, it was posted on here I think.

More irony really, refuse to give the club a penny and moan, moan moan about investment.

Probably kicked off about Northampton too but then love a bit of Wasps.

Not sure about the weird defence of the telegraph because people have said CET and not CT, everybody pretty much knows what CET means.

You are right, they aren't going to turn down money from Wasps. Precisely the reason they aren't going to bad mouth them also.

1/ Liar liar your pants are of fire, I posted that on twitter, you copied it and published it on here (are you allowed to do that without asking me, I don't know the laws)
2/ Not me, I've never moan about lack of investment.
3/ Of course, I was going to games up to Northampton, are you blaming Wasps for SISU moving the club to Northampton? I don't get the connection.
4/ I was just correcting the posters ignorance
5/ It's a locally news paper, Simon is just reporting the facts that's what they do. They have no reason to bad mouth Wasps, they haven't destroyed CCFC, SISU managed to do that all on their own.

It is completely legal for somebody to link to a tweet, why wouldn't it be?

No, my point is the irony.

It is no co-incidence that a large % of people who are so behind Wasps are the ones who are so against our owners, a lot of NOPM people also tend to like a bit of Wasps action too.

It is hardly ignorance to say the CET rather than CT is it? Wasps are the ones refusing to talk about rentals now, but nobody says anything to them!

Then we can be upfront and accept a free press is not a free press.

So be it, but let's not pretend otherwise.

1/ OK but I'd suggest not very ethical
2/ You appear to be suggesting that the lack of investment moaners are also those that aren't giving the club any money. Ridiculous, stop putting supporters in pigeon holes.
3/ You are right, they are most likely sports fans so it's hardly surprising is it.
4/ Wasps are cited in JR2. Would you talk a do a deal with an organisation that are threatening you, I certainly wouldn't. SISU drop the court cases & I'm sure Wasps will do a deal.
5/ He can say what he likes or is that not the case on this forum.

Surely it's ok for SISU to have no morals either then if CT can have no morals because they are a business? And if CT are a business we need to accept that their reporting is neither fair, impartial or accurate.

People don't need to boycott wasps, most people aren't interested anyway. Their attendances peaked and will slowly plateau and when novelty wears off, will fall as years pass by.

To pull someone up about calling a paper known as the CET for longer than its been known as the CT, shows a small mindedness you should be congratulated on. Well done.

What's morals got to do with it?

If you don't like what CT put in their paper, don't buy it.
If you don't like the way SISU run the football club, don't give them any money.

You could look at relegation being as being the biggest danger. The club can survive without a Cat 2 Academy, certainly in the short term. It is unlikely that Wasps would actually kick us out, but at the same time a new improved deal being negotiated is something different, so long as Wasps are not making a loss on the deal I think they will just let it roll on

Relegation however could be terminal given
- debt levels high very few assets
- reductions in income
- the ability to acquire a squad being damaged even further
- the fact that the owners will not fund further
- there being few playing assets to sell - there might be potential in Jones, Harries etc but on the back of failure and need for cash the values will not be great
- player values decreased by being L2 - are there any get out clauses?
- do the economics of the Ricoh deal make sense for CCFC or Wasps in L2
- is a Cat 2 academy viable/affordable in L2
- SISU wanting to crystallise losses on investments perhaps
- etc

Promotion might raise some difficulties also but a slightly longer timescale

Is the OP timetable realistic or too long? Or are we simply worrying over nothing and the there is cunning plan in play? Or do we just accept L1 mediocrity and safety/stability?

Tweets not protected are counted as a free for all. Newspapers often embed them without asking, which leads to the occasional relief where the Sun have linked a tweet and the author has changed their name to Fuck the Sun or similar.

The conspiracy is on another thread
About the TM and the academy. Or should I say the smokescreen.
Can I borrow your brush?

How is that a conspiracy. It's clearly an opinion piece.

Morals have everything to do with it if you're NOPM especially when you are openly justifying the CT welcoming Wasps with open arms and pockets because they are a business. If they had morals, and cared about the city as a 'local' newspaper they would not have done that. Nor would anyone with morals justify going to the Wasps matches for the experience of seeing top flight sport. And it's that duplicity that raises eyebrows with a portion of CCFC fans, irrespective of how much we agree that CCFCs demise is SISUs own doing.

Then we have nothing to worry about.
