Four clubs? Cov rugby, Coventry Bears rugby league and Cov United ........

I take that the 4th is talking about the women's rugby side?

“Bringing soccer to Butts Park is in line with our vision of creating a multi-sport city centre facility serving different parts of the community. Coventry City FC have known about this development and have expressed their support.
Cov Utd had better hope they don't get too successful and want to turn professional. Wouldn't want a professional football club playing there!

I read it as the men's and women's Cov United side. I don't follow CUFC, but I think it makes good sense for them. As a CRFC fan, I can only hope that they get a decent 3/4G pitch in place, 'cos this is going to give it some hammer!

I am happy for anything that gives CRC a higher profile and may put them in competition with Wasps.

Cov rugby's success may be the only thing that pushes Wasps out.

If that happens, I'm sure wasps would be willing to discuss terms for
Them to rent the Ricoh.
After all it's not like they will already have a professional football club
Playing there. ;)

Wasn't CovUtd started so that the NOPM fans could support a CCC approved club?
No started by pissed off City supporters in the same way M UNITED fans started FC UNITED.
Funny enough due to the dislike of their owners.

No Cov United was formed because we moved to Northampton.

They used the club's demise to their advantage.

We have a perfectly semi-professional club (Cov Sphinx) and yet they would rather start a new club and support that.

Sounds familiar with a certain rugby club...

Well those knob heads seem to be doing something right and with a smaller budget then us.
Mind you they do make £10.75 on coffee.

We may end up the second team in the City if we are not careful.
Don't be stupid, how can you compare the two situations?

So Cov Utd will now be playing in the city centre with a capacity of 3000.
Quite a few Cov fans started going there during the Northampton debacle.
I wonder if any will do the same with this?

The Sphinx have been around forever. They have no ambition and are going nowhere. Cov United at least want to get somewhere. Coventry need a viable second club, lots of cities and towns smaller than us have them.

Not shocked by this as its sort of falls into the background game that's going on in my opinion. Again some might see this as not connected to the squeeze placed on our owners and pass it on as coincidence, me i don't believe in all these events coming in line with each other as not part of a bigger plan. Whoever is pushing this and i have an idea, is really putting the foot harder down on the Sisu throat for avenues and options to turn down.

I'm waiting for all comments about conspiracy's or i'm an idiot, but Nick will testify, i have been posting this for a longtime, this has to be a part of a bigger plan, all things happening now are being played out are for a reason. I don't have answers to the end game, just an opinion that things are not as they seem and Sisu are Coventry's public enemy number 1 with certain powers that will be very persistent and powerful with others future if they do not tow a line of the bigger plan.

Who has two clubs that are smaller than us?

Cambridge, Nottingham, Dundee

To be honest mate I am struggling a bit.
Our strength is its a one club city.
However if we were ever liquidated at least we would have an option

interesting post, I appreciate you don't want to say anymore on a message board but I'd be interested to hear who you think is pushing this agenda.

It's interesting that the statement from Coventry Rugby Club doesn't say how long the deal with Coventry United is for, just that it has been agreed in principle that the football club will be playing there next season.

Once Coventry United play at the Butts a precedent for football being played at the site will have been set.

I honestly think its being driven by CCC with Wasps as front seat passengers, together they are a very strong partnership and in a very strong position within the city now. I knew about Wasps way before Sisu moved the club to NTFC, a plan to move to the Ricoh had been in place for a very long time before it happened. Sisu days are numbered in this city and them moving to Northampton allowed all to gain what we see today, while Sisu thought breaking a lease contract was a great idea, the others involved were plotting the move and sealing every avenue for them to come back with no leverage around any table with any party within the city.

The above is true, which what makes me think CCC and Wasps are the instigators and have a bigger plan, what the plan or overall outcome is i would be guessing then?. And this is where me a a certain few disagree, time will tell us all, but something is going to change and a decision or action to force Sisu out will become very clear. Remember Sisu have said it already "the club is being forced out" they have worded it as the club, the ones forcing it are quietly doing it as "forcing Sisu out".

Nick will be onto me again but time will make me out to be a liar or a David Icke follower!! either way im not really bothered, we will still be in the shit but all still want the club to be the best it can be.

It's correct that Coventry Sphinx have been around for a while and have made progress to Step 5 in the Non League Pyramid. Cov Utd are now in the same Division (currently below the Sphinx). The accusation that Coventry Sphinx have no ambition is not true but we do live within our means unlike some non league clubs out there. Sphinx are ambitious but will not put the club at risk chasing a dream. A small increase in attendances can make a big difference at this level and we've already seen an increase in attendances in the early stages of this season. We as a club are full of hard working volunteers with alot of those also supporters of Coventry City.
