I'm hoping there will be a few articles in the national papers this week, David Conn (Guardian) sort of hinted at that.

I think you are right that SISU will not care about this petition, but if the club were sold for a low figure [given CCFC has little or no assets], then the environment for a deal to be achieved to save the academy is more realistic. That means CCC, Wasps, Warwick University , etc being confident of doing business with CCFC. Currently, that is not the case and until SISU leave, then there appears to be no resolution

I know David quite well, he lives nearby up here in Yorkshire and has done some really interesting talks at my pub on ownership of football clubs. He's very sympathetic to our situation and I'm sure he'll help get as much coverage as he can

Sure its just another coincidence that Wasps who, according to their owner Richardson, aren't interested in property development 'I’m not a property developer, I’ve never developed anything in my life. I’ve never thought of this as something I might make profit from.' are now moving into property development.

Building on green belt land no less that requires CCC to change the city plan. Wonder if they purchased the land at a price reflecting the restrictions in place or a price appropriate to a site being developed for housing?

Seem to recall when we were talking about a stadium within the city boundary many were saying it was impossible if it wasn't in the city plan as that couldn't be changed.

How much more evidence do people need that the council and Wasps are working hand in hand?

Interesting that the council wouldn't let Seven Trent build there but are supporting Wasps plans. Another coincidence no doubt.

Have people thought of what might happen if CCFC do leave to play at the BPA (fat chance, IMO) then after a while Wasps decide the move to Cov hasn't worked, then agree with the council to demolish the Ricoh and build houses on it??? That couldn't easily happen if we have a long term lease on the Ricoh, but if we cut ourselves adrift into a small stadium, with no hope of returning to the Ricoh, then we really will be a small L1 outfit.

So we should signup to a long term agreement to make sure the Ricoh can't be knocked down that we don't own?

On reasonable terms, yes. I don't understand why anyone thinks that a long term deal at the Ricoh is a bad idea. You certainly haven't shown why it's a bad idea, have just tried (and failed) to ridicule my ideas.

1 good reason is how offputting it is to potential new owners if we want sisu to sell up.

Surely it will limit our growth just as much if we are trying to run "break even"?

Not to mention the fact of it being Wasps ground, branded as wasps etc.

How good a deal do you think we will get there?

I would be an asset to us to have a long-term home sorted on reasonable terms. No investor is going to like the "we're homeless" or the "we're playing in a shoebox now" model. With the right terms and by encouraging fans back, we can break even - a lease at the Ricoh is not a barrier to that.

Come on, have you even thought this through?

I am not saying being homeless, I am saying they would have more options.

Ask this, why would somebody buy us over other clubs?

Where's the potentially huge fan base? You really must forget about one offs and think about what CCFC's fan base looks like over the last 30 years. It rarely achieved an average gate in excess of 20k, that is not a huge fan base.

Low running costs and purchase price yes, but would need significant investment to bring any sort of return if ever.

Based at... Why wouldn't they go somewhere they could buy the stadium also?

How much would need investing to push us on?

How much investment would be needed to get the huge fan base back?

Our decline from premiership to bottom of league one has coincided with us losing our status as stadium owners and having access to all the available revenue streams. I'd be hesitant about signing a long term lease as it means we will not have access to that revenue any time soon.

Look at the finances of teams in the championship, almost all make a loss and almost all own their stadium and generate revenue from it. If we were ever to fluke a promotion then we would, without a massively favourable rent, be unable to financially compete in the second tier.

Also signed the petition but not with any hope our situation will change.

Relative to other teams in this league, look what happens when we can be successful. We had 22k home fans in the stadium when we played Leeds in 2010, similar number for the Ricoh return and Crewe games. If we were consistently successful we could regularly get near these numbers, which is a far more than most L1 or even champ teams.
