Whoever it is needs experience at this level and extensive knowledge of lower leagues. Ultimately, where we are we need bargains and contacts
Hi Sky blues, the token Bristol City supporter here.
If you went for Steve Cotterill, he would definitely keep you out of trouble and potentially have you fighting at the other end of L1 in a relatively short period of time BUT he's quite an egotistical character and I don't think he would work easily with the bastards at SISU.
At the Gate, he is rightfully held in extremely high regard and the consensus is that he grew the club so quickly that it became too 'big' for him. That said, the first 2 years under SC were absolutely superb. He took over, from Sean O'Driscoll with us floundering near the bottom of L1 and saved us with ease then built a side that absolutely walked L1 without spending huge amounts. We were actually in profit regarding transfers that season due to the sale of Sammy Baldock to Brighton. His undoing came at Championship level with obscene bids for the likes of Dwight Gayle and Andre Grey when we had no real chance of getting them and no plan 'B'. It left us very light on players going into a tough Championship season.
We were told by Burnley supporters that he's a superb L1 Manager but not so clever further up, something we found to be correct at Ashton Gate. His stubborness in persevering with 3-5-2 upstairs, even though we were getting battered at the higher standard, was sad to watch but us Bristol City fans would universally wish him well in his next job (as long as it's not the rovers), he's a top man.
As I said, IF he could work with SISU, I'm not sure about that, then you would have a very good Manager who's got a brilliant accent as well although I'm just a tad biased.
Good luck to you.
Now that sounds like a poisoned chalice Hobo.1) he will have about £1.50 to spend.
2) it seems like most Coventry fans only understand the 4-4-2 formation.
3) he will be adored then rejected after 6 months what ever he achieves.
Now that sounds like a poisoned chalice Hobo.
On the formation, 3-5-2 worked brilliantly at L1 level for us as we had very quick full backs in Mark Little and Joe Bryan. The problem is that Championship sides tear 3-5-2 to pieces.
Whoever gets your job, I wish you well. As mentioned by many, the problems at CCFC are perceived, outside of your club and supporters, as being nothing to do with the Manager.
ryan giggs for me
Would be a shocking appointmentPschool stuart Pearce.........
Whether he'd want to leave Barnet to work for SISU is another matter of course...........
I'm not sure if a big name would have any interest in managing us anymoreI am not sure we should go for a big name again.
That does indeed ask the question. We'll always get a manager but of what Calibre? Will Mowbray be the last decent name to be associated with this club? Words like history and sleeping giant can only carry so much weight. Have SISU finally eroded that? Is it the bottom of the barrel from here in? We're not exactly a glamorous club anymore, even at this level.
I agree nick lets get the likes of thorne back. After all the club has lowered its sights on everything els ie the size of our new ground lol, club shop, league position and budget so lets get a shit manager to go with it

If we were to get a League Two manager, you are like expect him to be able to identify classy League Two and Conference players who look ready to make the step up.No, I'd just rather a decent lower league manager because we are a lower league club. Much better than somebody who is trying to shop like they were a higher league club and wondering why they can't.

I would be happy with a name we haven't heard of who works with small budgets and has a god win percentage ratio.
That's the thing, somebody who can pick out the Stokes like players.
They also need to know the actual game in these leagues, how physical it is etc.
so, who do we want,
imho, new owners,
therefore a huge increase in income, as thousands flock back to watch CCFC,
& imho, offer TM a proper competitive budget to complete the project he came to do
Joy?I think we should be innovative and appoint a woman, preferably very attractive.
Yeah and we are Coventry City and never get what we prefer.Read it again , Otis , it said preferably attractive!
At the end of the season, our best players will leave and our best young players will be sold. It happens every season. There never will be an 'established young side' to work with.<snip> That man must be Neil Warnock.
Next season he can hand over the reigns to a decent man who can work well with an established young side so that man needs to be an exceptional 'coach'. <snip>
