Refreshing to see some football news, and good news at that. Can't see how this is anything but a positive move, though no doubt the usual bellends will pipe up putting a negative slant on it.

Pleasing to see another promising, young player tied down to a long term deal. Well done Mark Venus.

It puts value on him and like it or not he will be a candidate to be sold one day. I have a hunch Fisher and co will have a list of possibles and probables to be sold and their estimate values. Has said we need to sell to survive, probably the only 100% true thing he said.

Great news. Turnbull, Jones and now Stevenson on long term contracts. Hope the trend continues.

As he said we are selling club because we cannot generate sufficient funds from Attendances so unfortuneatly Ben will become a casualty at the appropriate time however he will realise much needed revenue in the short term and longer term like Wilson & Maddison give us. Its a model a lot of lower division clubs use when they dont have a benefactor supporting the club with funds. We need to be self sustainable!

and yet people dispute that TM was building the club for future

aint reid, thomas and sordell on 2 year contracts too? or just 1?

Mate, you need to cut those strings. I get the infatuation...I used to like SPs tank tops but hey, TMs gone now.

TM was god awful the past few months...he had to go.

You may be right. Just the long term (three years plus) stick in my mind.

Stevenson is a great potential. But lets not try and hype him into something he isn't. He is a kid who needs time to learn his craft and not be over played. He will also have a bad patch as players do.

Let's hope he is here for 3-4 years.

Reid and K Thomas 2 years, Sordell 1 year with an option

so next year wouldnt have needed such a big upheavel.

convicned TM would have sorted us, just hope MV gets job and carries on in same vein. zero chance of us going down imo. we will stay in promotion mix i think. although not good to start with a uphil battle i agree

Midfielder Ben Stevenson has signed a new contract with the Sky Blues, keeping him at the club until 30th June, 2020

Great news, but he wont be here until 2020

Good news. But anyone who thinks he will be here that long is deluded.
Being under contract just means we can get more for him when he goes.

Tim Fisher has gone on record and said CCFC will have to SELL a player a season to brake even.

All that the contact's do is protect SISU interests !!!

I hope not. I hope he turns into an average championship player and we sell him for £3m in January

Doesn't in protect CCFC interests if the football club are the ones who need the money?
So please tell us, we're has the money gone from the Maddison transfer to Norwich ?

And the transfer of Wilson to Bournemouth ?

Not forgetting the budget has gone DOWN from last season to this season !!!

Funding operating costs (inc. Fees, wages, agents fees, etc) and minimalising losses.

There was a note in the most recent accounts about this. The upfront fee for Maddison was used to repay some of a short term loan made by SISU to cover the cash flow problems caused by the miscalculation in breakeven. The rest of the loan remains as a rolling credit facility.

We've been making significant losses (£m's) for years - its all on the accounts, of which there are numerous threads on here, where OSB has gone through them with a fine tooth combe. The ticket prices have only returned to pre-2015/16 levels, they were heavily discounted last season. Given our gates are down by aroubd 4-5k, its probably a good job they have changed the prices....

Its really not complicated. The tickets last season were massively discounted compared to previous seasons. There wasn't sufficient uptake to offset the lower prices, a major problem when we don't have access to other revenues. Therefore the pricing this season returned to what it has been for several years prior with the exception of last season.
