I thought they were poor, they never looked like scoring and they didn't have a single player that I would want in our side. If a side like that finish above is it will be a bad season

I'm not sure how we can rip into Rochdales fans about the away attendance when we took less to Gillingham the other week...

With our defense we will always be there for the taking but the op is clearly from the armchair supporter! We scored twice, they didn't....end of story

Agree.

We just can't afford to play like that every week. We would get torn apart by anyone with a decent strike force.

Defence is doing ok. We need to make sure we can put the ball in the net and we've got every chance of moving up the league nicely.
Yep, that's a nice stat. Such a shame that we have given so many silly goals away.

Be great if Stokes can com back in soon too. That should help solidify the back four further.

So we didn't play as well as Tuesday but the Dale came with a typical northern game plan, go through the player hassle and niggle at the back of the player every time when we had the ball and for large parts of the game hoof the ball long. I'll take being the poorest side they've met this season and walking away with three points

Rochdale had to miss the midfield out cos they kept losing it and wanted to negate the Bigi and Ben effect. It was in the air a lot in the 2nd half and by the time they finished with their substitutes the average height of their team must have been 6' 4".

Our back four were excellent, composed and working well as a unit and that negated their 'lob it forward at every opportunity' tactics. I felt the game changed when Reid came on, gave us more energy and drive and they went long at that point.

Nice one.

We were the better team ....
sorry for the drunken uncouth response last night!

I think the point I wanted to make last night is that that was the type of performance we were crying out for for large parts of last season.
We handled everything they threw at us, a took our chances when they came.
The 2nd goal was exactly the sort of goal you need to score if you're going to do anything in this league, break, quick ball down the line, good early cross with defenders facing their own goal and man breaking into the box to finish.
We struggled to win ugly last season, if that' something Venus can get the team doing then that will be great.

Well yep. Just wish he had a transfer window now to play around with.

Can't see there is any chance an out of contract player being anywhere near any kind of fitness whatsoever.

My point exactly.
We have a plan b for the first time in years.
Winning ugly got Burton promoted last season
Bradford and Sheffield do it

We have seen 2 startlingly different games at home in a week, with the same team.
Special mention for that too, I think it's the first time in a couple seasons at least we've done that

Just because a team dominates possession doesn't mean they are a better team. We should know that.

For our first goal the centre back tried to play Lameires rather than win the ball and Lameires squirmed away, won the ball, and threaded a perfect pass

As I said on the last oxford fans view thread im not bothered what they think. Hill will know that it went wrong when they changed the passing game for the long ball game. I doubt we are the worse team they have played... in the end we stood strong, could have scored early on when agyei hit the post, Reid relieved pressure with his runs. Personally in the first half I thought they were the better side but in the second despite dominating possession they were clueless as an attacking unit. Hill I thought made the wrong substitutions and their most influential player was shipped to right back.
In contrast we grew into the game, worked hard for each other and took two of our chances...in the end quite comfortably and easy

Would agree with all that apart from the last three words.

Reid did change things. It gave us some relief and enabled us to get us out of our half at last.

Bad move by Hill for them. They were passing the ball about quite nicely, but then suddenly decided to go long.

They were also clueless in attack for sure.

At half time I was convinced they would score in the second forty five minutes, but as the game wore on the chances they created did lessen, though they did have a couple of headed chances they should have done much better with.

Some of their shooting was abysmal at times.

Yes not comfortable and easy at half time but as the game wore on they wasted a few half chances, didn't really threaten Burge and in the last 10mins or so saw the game out well.

Agree, we were average but done a professional job yesterday. We'd have lost that match 6 weeks ago for sure but turned out to be a routine home win in the end.
