That 2 ex players had good games?

Some may have missed it, but we won too! Sorry to be the bearer of good news like that.

Agreed Faz, I think Bigi is playing very well at the minute! As busy and runs around a lot like JOB but also plays well positionally and when on his game his range of passing g for me is as good as Fleck. By this time last season however fleck had already picked up something like 3 yellow cards so was always liable to miss games through suspension.
Think we do miss a bit of Vincelot grit and fight as Gadshev just doesn't cut it for me.

I don't think we've missed Fleck at all tbh. Perhaps Vincelot at times even though I didn't really rate him.

i agree. bigi and stevenson more than doing fleck job

vincelot was great for half a season then was terrible, whilst different players i am glad we have kyle reid in squad over him. i am assuming vinelot wages were used on him anyway

Exactly, that's my point.

I've just had a browse of the Sheffield United forum, talk about hubris.
Fair enough, went over my head. Sheffield united should be embarrassed that they are still at this level after all these years, none of the problems we've had and a bigger budget each year.

I've just read the thread about Fleck, you'd think it was Paul Scholes they'd signed. Perhaps it's because they've often been the epitome of anti-football (Bassett, Warnock etc)

Fleck IMO looked a lot better than his actual performances were, for every champagne pass there was plenty of poor passes, hardly scored, couldn't tackle either, I still believed that Fleck could have done so much more for us and either he wasn't played in the right position or wasn't motivated enough, always would look better in a good team like he did when we had Clarke & wilson ripping up defences.

I imagine Sheffield united fans are gnashing their teeth with envy at our midfield quality versus theirs.

read their thread come february and see if its as good about Fleckie then and if so the motivation of a better salary is working?

A midfield pairing I wish we had kept but we did'nt.
I remember my uncle wanting Christmas cancelled when we sold Dennis Mortimer to the Villa (!) selling players is one thing I have became used to.
The only slight change is we now sell players the first possible moment they have any value.

I have said before that he is the type of player that relies a lot on players around him being on form. Given Sheff Utd's current form I am not surprised that he is getting rave reviews.

Always found Fleck to be incredibly hit and miss, had the quality but often faded during games. As someone mentioned, if he was to achieve anything here then he would have done so over the last four years.

With Vincelot however, if I'm honest I'm still gutted we sold him. Definitely thought he would've played a big role for us this season!

Agree with that especially RV, I think Bigi (as seen on sat) wants to play that enforcer role but he's not a natural at it where I thought RV was, so worry Bigi will try too hard and get needlessly sent off, hopefully with game time and experience he will grow into that role!

Exactly, the midfield I feel is a little lightweight now and I think Bigi /Stevenson and Vincelot would've provided the right amount of grit and creativity.

Fleck was a very good player for us, mostly let down by the dross he had to play alongside week in week out. Our team would be much stronger now with him.

I don't think we've ' really ' missed fleck, he wanted to go so having him in this thread is nul and void.

Vincelot didn't really do great for us after Xmas, he never held down a position, of his own, now if we're comparing him now to our team, would he be in ahead of Willis at centre right? Like he is at Bradford?
I doubt it totally.
Ergo we aren't actually missing him.

The only comparison we should be talking about is old golden messi, I mean, Jim O'Brien.
Now some of our Fans made him out to be the Best midfielder we had, and some put him down as player of the season at Xmas.
Yet where do we find him ( and being completely ignored in any thread ) nowadays?
Starting ( and staying ) on the bench for league ones bottom team.

Anyone want to discuss that comparison, and what I see as the only fair comparison over the 'main men ' that were ' let go ' last season.

Missed the bloke who kept going missing?

Hmm........

I do think the better the team he's in though, the better he will play, if they can allow him the time and space to shine.

Fleck a very disappointing footballer a lot of talent but hid in most games rarely passed it forward and a walking booking.
