Only caught a bit at the end with Dave and a guy talking about Brian Hill.

Always find it interesting to hear stories about the olden days like that!

Yeah pretty bland.
Must be hard to get a flow going when it's curtailed to about 40 minutes by other crap.
They really should do something about that

There was some comment about the BPA and whether the pitch could be" sunk", what's all that about?

Without it going onto a full on Butts Park debate, I think there is a stadium where they sunk the pitch into the ground to give more space for stands. Can't remember who's it it.

Like this I think:

A stadium with a sunken pitch that surely entails adding several more milion on to the cost of the project.

Couldn't go to deep with all the mines shafts and underground rivers.

I might be being stupid here, but I don't get how sinking the pitch gives you extra room to play with, looked at from above its got to be identical surely, unless the stands are on top of the pitch.

It's been many years since I was last at the Butts but I seem to recall that there was a track around it. If so, then I can see the advantage of "sinking". the pitch. To me however the cost of doing so would be prohibitive.

Nope you've lost me. Would the track be above the pitch? How is it saving any space on its footprint.

Can someone draw me a picture?

And as Cov don't want a massive stadium they would surely not want to be coughing up the extra cash that would be involved.

The sunken pitch would be for Coventry City's benefit only.

Just wonder if all the digging would be in order for Sisu to make their escape through underground tunnels.

In the Great Escape that meant lots of prisoners shot by Nazi's as soon as the escapees appeared on the other side of the fence.

With Sisu it would be Steve Brown on the machine gun turrets.

think that's what Chelsea plan to do at Stamford Bridge, sink the pitch. Costs a fortune apparently.

I'd imagine the water table is quite high in that area. Isn't there a river / stream very close by? Not sure what you would gain by it either other than a lower profile on the skyline and I don't think that's been talked about as a potential issue as of yet.

I've been wondering that but thought I was being stupid as nobody seemed to question it! Tried google and all I got was a piece about West Ham not being able to sink their pitch as there's radioactive waste under the olympic stadium!

Bit of useless information ,but Forest Green Rovers who are owned by the bloke behind Ecotricity are planning a sunken stadium, with the stands fully banked by Earth . He is an Eco nut and a ultra vegan, you can't get any pies or any other meaty based crap in the ground it's all nut wraps and that type of shit.
They have planning permission and should be on target to enter the league this season. Ploughed multi millions into them, I'd even eat a nut wrap if he took over the mighty skyblues.
