Oxford away - Pubs (2 Viewers)

I purchased some items on Ebay. They were from an Oxford fan. We got talking, and he gave me some information regarding food and drink around the ground.

We usually use the Catherine Wheel at Sandford on Thames. Away fans welcome, nice atmosphere but no food other than rolls. Park in the road and then a 15 minute walk to the ground and an easier getaway than being stuck in the club car park for an hour afterwards!

Also in Sandford is the Kings Arms down on the Thames which is a Chef & Brewer so good selection of food but adds 10 mins to walk and I think it's pay and display parking even in the pub car park.

Another one we use fairly regularly is the Golden Ball in Littlemore which is a little place on the edge of a big estate (Littlemore, not Blackbird Leys). He does good value basic food and is friendly, but I would suggest you go in the lounge bar (to the right) rather than the public bar on left but only because it's more comfortable, the locals are fine! Again about a 15 min walk and close to the ring road for a quick escape afterwards.

And just round the corner from the GBall is The George which is a football pub which we haven't used for 2-3 years as it kept changing management but I understand they're football orientated and friendly but I don't know about food.

The only other pub within walking distance is The Blackbird on B/Leys - don't go near it!!!

At the ground itself there is a large, free car park which can be a bugger to get out of (but luckily I have a friend's space on the adjacent science park!). No pubs but two hotel bars (both horribly sterile and DULL!), the bowling alley bar (ditto) and a Frankie & Benny's. There are also two seperate buffets, one Indian and one Chinese, both of which are excellent value although the Indian is the best - very good value! Both have bars. There is also a chip shop which doesn't.

Really pleased for you both, hope you two are very happy together. xx

We are getting train. Few pubs in city centre and cabs to and fro ground.

Lovely!

Why be stupid about it? It was a helpful thread for city fans!
I'm not knocking his thread, it's got some great advice in it. The first 3 lines just reminded me of the start of 'Our Tune' and when I read his post in Simon Bates voice and with the theme playing, as facetious as that might be, it made me laugh.
.

I get genuinely confused by what you choose to pull up and what you let go on this forum. There are about half a dozen posters left with a real sense of humour and as Cov fans we desperately need the distraction.

I have a sense of humour. I guess over time I have just become fed up of all the moaning and bitching that goes on between us all. Apologies for my reply. It was not aimed at you directly.

Perfect example of why I don't post on here often
The expletives, repetitive daily circular arguments, personal spats spilling onto almost every thread, complete lack of anything to get excited about on the footy front - all reasons I would readily understand for not wanting to post here very often. But if a little bit of mild facetiousness is what's putting you off, then I'm not sure the internet is the place for you sir. Either way, I apologise for hurting your feelings, it genuinely wasn't my intention.

The real question of course is, what were you buying from an Oxford fan on eBay?
