The tackle (6 Viewers)

After seeing Ben Stephenson's tackle on Lewington on the highlights I am amazed he got a straight red!

He's sliding into a 50-50 without studs raised and get a hint of the ball.

Lewington rolls around on the floor rather cleverly & gets the player sent off!

Can someone nearer than the TV cameras confirm that Bens a dirty bastard....

Ben gave the ref a chance to show the red card by going in for the tackle knowing that the ref was brandishing cards like they were going out of fashion. Seeing it on tv there is very little chance of it being overturned, he was not in full control, foot was off the ground etc the ref has plenty of choices. The MK player made the refs job very easy by being shot from the stands. Ben needs to learn from this, yes in a lot of games it would be a yellow but don't give the ref the chance to show the red.

I think that was the first card of the game wasn't it?
Then he followed it up by about 6 yellows in 10 minutes.

That's the thing people will state the laws say that's a red card, yet the laws state kicking the ball away is a yellow yet MK player booted it about 30 yards when we went to take a quick free kick nothing.

The 'interpretation' nonsense is just an excuse to allow refs to toss a coin on decision making!

I'm not going to blame the ref for our poor performance, but there was one incident in the first half where one of our players (sorry can't remember who) was deliberately blocked just outside pen area which I thought was a clear yellow not given

I agree. Not the worse tackle but not the worst refereeing decision either. Had that been their player we would be screaming for a red. He was pit of control, late and clearly got their player on the ankle - he got no ball. Like I said not the worst red card but not a howler of a decision. You just can't get away with that in the modern game.

Bollocks mate, it was an appalling decision.

Not one of the three reasons teh ref should give a red in that tackle.

If it's not overturned then fuck football

Yes Ben needs to learn from this, next time we play MK he should really do him Roy Keane style.

Its not going to get overturned, and I maintain its not a shocker of a decision. Unlucky, maybe, but not a shocker.

It was the first card of the game bud

IMO was never a red
Ref was fucking shit, kicking Away balls went unpunished at least twice, bigi block didn't even produce a foul Wtf
There was another 3 challenges on Reid where I thought should have been yellows Long before the Red

Regarding the red, on initially seeing it I thought Stevenson actually got a toe to it, playing it onto the guy running at him haven't seen a replay but that was my initial thought

If Stevenson's was a red who almost broke their bloke in half 5 minutes later should of got 3 red cards

just watched t#the terrible camera work on youtube

i think its not a red card challenge, outstretched leg, toe forward along the floor there was worse from DKE not long after
the ref needs sacking if he thinks thats a red

the video doesnt confirm any touch of the ball from stevenson so im sticking by my first assesment that he did toe the ball onto the other player

games gone tho and we lost points that we can never get back though poor refereeing

About the red card, no real complaints. But Sheffield United and a certain tackle anyone? I still can't see how any ref could not give a straight red for that shocker!!!

Andrew Davies, from Hampshire, piss poor referee, & he's on the select panel for up & coming refs.
If he were anything like a person who admits that he might have made a mistake, then he should review several incidents.
Not only was the red card wrong, the other incidents of Stevenson getting a blatant & deliberate elbow in the back & Reid getting a forearm smash from their full back need retrospective punishment.
To say he didn't see them is not an excuse, he can watch the video.
Who,I wonder was the referee's assessor, he needs to be positive & mark Davies down for an utterly incompetent performance?
Having watched a fair bit of football today, I've seen at least 8 similar challenges with only 2 yellow cards dished out.
Either get your act together Davies, or find another job, I'd advise a shit house cleaner

The ref only gets one view. He reached for the card immediately and gave red. My first thought was it could be a red. On seeing replay I think it could have gone either way. Not the worse refereeing decision I saw on Saturday. It won't be overturned as it can be viewed as dangerous play.

I am sick of seeing these premiership referee's coming down to the 1st Division, totally different types of football premiership pansy tip tap diving players compared to in your face not giving an inch type players. I counted at least 17 (stopped after 65 mins) incidents in the middle of the park where the players were jostling and putting a footin to get the ball and the referee blew immediately. You can see the frustration in Bigi getting worse you cannot get near a player these days and the game becomes a farce for the spectators that's what is making me fall out of love with the beautiful game

Ref was not the worst we have seen at the Ricoh this season. Missed a couple of 'professional' plays by them, a couple of body checks and blew a little quickly on 50/50s but I honestly believe he got most things ok. I wasn't apoplectic as I was when Moss stole the show against Scunthorpe.

Some points taken 'lsb' but I still contest that 2 specific instances, the deliberate elbow in the back on Stevenson, & the forearm smash on Reid were both prime examples of violent conduct & neither received any attention from that XXXXXXX XXXX Davies, & yes Moss was shite against Scunthorpe, following in the footsteps of Uriah Rennie, in reffing by numbers.
So, on that basis I stick by my previous statement that he (Davies), ought to get his act together or find another job.
I would still recommend that he become a shit house cleaner,
'want your bog cleaned' then call Moss n' Davies on 0121 012 101

That's one of the great things about football...we all see the game differently and there are as many opinions as there are fans. I actually thought for the first time in a long time we weren't bullied by a team. I didn't see them intimidate us like teams like Wimbledon. I missed the forearm smash on Reid but felt overall the ref blew up too often rather than not enough.

Amazed that we aren't appealing this

Watched Liverpool game last night and someone put in a challenge, probably worse that Stevenson's, and it resulted in a quickly taken Free kick and not even a talking too from the ref.
What gives?
The ref was reaching for the red as Stevenson was sliding in on that

Has anybody ever wondered whether the football establishment has a downer on CCFC because of SISU?

Surely not........that would be a conspiracy
