It isn't deflecting anything.
I replied to somebody who said about the next generation of fans and then said that one of the things JH could actually be proud about at the minute is the stuff for the kids also.

Feel free to list everything that was done so we can compare how it is now, the factories thing is a big one. I think there is still a presence in some of the big employers, like going in with the smoothie bike maker etc but it isn't as widely publicised as the stuff for the kids.

Yes, and lots more stuff too. The factories etc was about getting dads to go, who, guess what, also took their kids. Even made the away trips easier for families with the sky blue special. It's difficult to separate all the stuff he did and group it as "just kids" Nick.

Like I said, I mentioned the stuff about the younger fans as that's what I know more about.
It would be nice to have trains put on, but I guess they have been replaced with coaches now.
One of the things I have always said is how awful the PR is and suggested a fair few things they can do cheaply to help.

Isn't JSB membership and tickets up on last year also? That's not down to Seppalla or Fisher either by the way.

Isn't crowd attendance down? Is that not down to Sepalla and Fisher either.

We need an owner to throw money at us yes, to get us to a stable level. Along side that, we need common sense, we need to own a ground, we need top facilities as a training ground, we need to maintain a top notch academy, we need to bring in good players, we need to put bums on seats and see a direction over all.
If we can get the above at some level then the amount of money needed to be pumped in should get less I'd say. I know its not that simple but overall, we need owners who can shape the club with the right structure, the rest follows.

It's still needing an owner to pump plenty of money in. Tens of millions to get anywhere near the top of the Championship like you say.
You can have an amazing owner who tells the honest truth to the fans every day but without those millions it isn't going to make any difference.

tbf to Grendel (not often you can say that around here
) he's right about his (Hill's, not Grendel's!) time as Chairman not being... great. That said, things like the Connexion, taking a stake in a foreign team, all-seater stadiums... they all ended up happening, just after we'd tried them unsuccessfully(!) So at least the club was still being proactive and trying to do something...

To a point. You can still do well with less money. You need to get to a certain level where you can attract good players. Then you need a smart manager to put together a team that can go on a run, Bolton have done it before, Burnley do it a lot etc but I agree, the game has gone such a way that unless you have bags and bags of money, you won't get far.

I was fortunate enough to become a fan during the end of the JH period of management and there was a real sense of direction, purpose and innovative investment into the club.
JH & Derrick Robbins ignited the passion in the City for the club, via real positive outreach, partnership working with all aspects of the community.

I was at that game. Just looked the date up and it was the evening of 28th January 1976. I went up on the Harry Shaw and it was the only coach to go that night.........and it wasn't even full. The weather was reasonably mild in Cov but when we got to Newcastle there was snow on the ground!! I always thought that McDonald had scored a hat tick but the stats show that he only scored 2. I remember what seemed like the whole of their crowd chanting " Super Mac, Super Mac".

In the grand scheme of things, really don't think a kids party will make a fig of difference to our future fan base. bringing your kids to a memorable matchday experience and engagement such as Micky Gynn and Peter Hormanschuck visiting your primary school in 1983 are the things that consolidate lifelong allegiance.

Average gates were 10k.... Pity you "Cherry picked" the bits you wanted to show.... 1981 was when the ground was turned all seater, cutting capacity to 20k and ALL games were made ALL TICKET. Which made it almost impossible for a lot of fans to get them. No intertwat then guys..... See what I mean about "Cherry picking"

I dare say though that he'd be more concerned about the hedge fund that could actually liquidate the club and probably wouldn't surprise many if that actually happened than a few individuals saying something stupid while not actually being in a position to liquidate jack shit.

Just to clarify again, this isn't Seppalla driving up from London to take the players to schools in her spare time. None of the credit for this is aimed at her.
A lot of good stuff like this does go on but gets ignored.
As for the matchday, granted the results have been shit but the people in the JSB area go above and beyond with the kids. Kids nowadays have phones, playstations, ipads etc and it is actually nice to see them chuffed to bits playing Connect 4 with other kids, table football etc.
