When will we hear from CCFC about the future location?

5 days of auditing ended today, those involved seem happy enough from what they've said on twitter.

They also confirmed it was to continue as a cat 2 academy.

What audit was this chief?

Good news it went so well, hope the result is as good and Cat 2 is retained.

Surely this must mean there is a minimum 12 month plan for the academy going forward? The current deal at the AHC runs out in 7 months. Has there been movement or agreement on location for the next year or two?

Good news, glad they are just getting on with stuff in the background. Also taking on more staff I think which is always a good sign.

That did occur to me. The auditors would be aware of the situation at Higgs so surely wouldn't bother going to the trouble of auditing for cat 2 if we're not going to have the facilities in a few months.

Good news so far Rev ......... but that's just the audit testing etc ...... they haven't made the decision yet whether CCFC actually retains the CAT 2 status for the next 2 or 3 years as far as I can tell

Anyone know what you need for cat 1 and the cost?

For Cat 1 status we'd need better training facilities (indoor/outdoor/different sizes), more thorough sports science, education facilities, more coaches, previous track record of producing first team players (wouldn't be a problem) and we'd have to spend a certain amount on maintaining it year on year.

Fitting an FA Premier League based criteria doesn't necessarily make a great academy though. It might help with recruitment but there are Cat 2 teams (Charlton, Sheffield United, us, Nottingham Forest) that would beat category 1 academies regularly.

They also cost around £2.5m to run, IIRC you only get around £800k FA grant, so significantly more expensive for a club to fund.
