I remember his first game for us. There was no such thing as the internet them days. Knew nothing about him. One of his first touches skidded off the top of his head and set an attack up for our opponents. Thought he was an old player when I saw him :D

But the more he played the better he got.

Think that was definitely a case of he looks old , looks not a very good player etc . a perfect scapegoat for our boo boys.

It was a screamer indeed. Didn't Speedie score a beauty also ? a curling shot past Clemence ?

A fluke ? Didn't we beat them down at WHL 0-1 Regis , 4-3 at H/R , 3-2 at Wembley , 2-1 at H/R in the space of 12 months - some fluke :) Daft Twats

correct

how can that be almost 30 years ago?

jeez.... time sure flies

Sure does. if I recall correctly , the game at WHL , the pitch was pretty frozen. doubt it'd be played these days . away end was rubbish too.

I'm pretty sure he's a postman in Norwich now, so he's probably delivering
His own cards today.:)

I remember driving home from the FA cup quarter final v Sheffield Wednesday and the local radio had an item called the "Grumble line" on. A Sheff Wednesday fan rang up to complain that their players couldn't get past Coventry's 50 year old left back!
Even the presenter thought that was a bit of a harsh description of Greg.

To be fair , I thought that was generous , I'd have said 60 :)
A Wednesday fan came over to me and wished us to win the cup after the game . always have a soft spot for Wednesday now . saw speedie score a over the shoulder lob to claim the points in the dying moments. 1-2 brilliant !

no HR, Cup run/win or top level football memories to fall back on

poor kid
It's going to be a hard job keeping him interested matesx, god knows how your going to do it if the current slide to oblivion continues.
Just keep showing him the old clips off youtube, especially the eighties and early nineties and say that one day these days could/might return and you can't miss that.

Something for CWR to consider.

Waddle had him on toast in the opening minutes of the final, post their first goal he hardly gave him a look in. I remember going down to Loftus road a couple of seasons later for a midweek league cup tie and witnessing the chrome domed one smash one goal wards from just outside the area which Seaman let slip thru his fingers.
What is it about LB's and our baldness?

Which other of our LB'S were bald ?

He was hated when he first signed mainly because he replaced fan favourite Stuart Pearce. His popularity grew though and won the fans over. I also remember him scoring. 30yarder for Norwich in a 1-0 win over us at Highfield Road.

My eldest son is 29 and apart from the final years in the top league has seen no success. Our "bad run" is longer than it seems.
