I honestly believe anyone against the idea of a Butts move must have a vested interest elsewhere or hate change.
There is no future at the Ricoh for the club to even stagnate, let alone expand. The other options are to build a new stadium (never going to happen), or move outside of the city (RIP CCFC).
Joining forces with a historical team that also got shafted by Wasps, in a city center location, that means us and them can expand together is a great idea. This season a 10k stadium would have been enough, so to start on 15k and expand from there is completely adequate. Even at Highfield Road we never got more than about 20k.
If we have something we own in part, we can at least start making some revenue on that. The soul of the club is brought back into the city and filling a smaller stadium every week will make for a much better atmosphere. The ambition isn't dead, it's a new starting point. People understandably were skeptical of the Ricoh, in particular its location, where as with this the capacity is about the only problem - that can be built on, there is enough land if done correctly.
I think people should get behind this idea, as if it is done right, could be amazing and save the club as we know it. I'm afraid I also can't take anyone seriously who thinks it is a bad idea based on 'pedestrian access' and shit like that. Give me a break.
I mean, from a personal bias perspective, imagine the City Arms on a match day? I'd never come home!
