Cian Harries to Liverpool? (1 Viewer)

Lots of young players stay at there clubs and play 100 games before moving on, it's not unheard of.

Just seems like the club are patting them on the back on the way out and telling them what a great opportunity this is, rather than fighting to keep them and then letting them go at the right time.

Yes, I'm sure there are some, but doesn't mean to say that no one is trying to persuade these players to stay. As was mentioned when Maddison went, why would he stay here when he could triple his wages overnight.

But who will we sell next year to keep us afloat?! I'm going to take this as confirmation SISU are leaving at the end of the season and cashing in!

Nah, we just happen to have two desirable assets this year. My guess is that all the kids that can be sold will be sold each year.

Another full season might be the difference between selling for £1M and £2.5M, but the directive to ensure cash flow isn't negative dictates otherwise (I think there was a £500K float provided by ARVO to ride out the storms at last count, but it is expected to be paid back as transfers go through).

If you believe Fisher he is trying to move to a point where sales can be deferred enough to bring in the extra fees.

The real question then is will that money be used solely to payback ARVO or can a decent percentage be used to finance the club sufficiently for it to become a genuine promotion contender.

That's fair enough, Sam Fox was cashing in on her two desirable assets every year for a long time. I think they would keep her afloat too.

Fishface must surely have to be held accountable for these goings on ?
Presumably he's brokering, agenting, & managing the deal so that he can get a percentage ?
After he's gone, (Fisher), how will he be thought of ?
Imho, he won't give a damn, as he hates CCFC fans anyway.

I heard when she tried swimming it all went tits up.

Harries must surely be in the £3m+ bracket, & with another season here, could easily triple that figure
Not for a defender, divide your estimates by 2 or 3.

Didn't Lookman play for Charlton in the championship last season? He represents England too? This will increase his fee above what we got for Maddison. That said, you're right, we sell players far too cheaply sometimes. That's using hindsight though. Looking back we got 1 million for Bigi and then got him back for free. That ain't bad business.
For Newcastle I totally agree

How do we ever progress or build a league winning team when we keep selling everyone who shows an ounce of promise?
We won't under the current owners unless they have a change of vision

Get used to it

Get over it

Agent trying to cause a stir and feeding stories? Cian is under the same agency as Maddison and I remember last January papers were reporting that he would end up at Arsenal, Liverpool or Spurs but he went to Norwich

Is Stevenson not with him too? Would be surprised if not considering how close him and Madders are.

Well good news he's not going IMO, bad news he seems to have an agent who wants him to.

They don't give a toss if we do or we don't progress - as long as SISU aren't losing money they're happy. We're a small, profitable business for them now. That's about it.

I rate harries. Think he will be top player in the future. Not sure if he will best develop in the ugly l1 or at a higher level. I would like him to stay and play alongside Clarke but his interests may be better served somewhere like Liverpool.

Disagree. Liverpool is where talented kids go to die. You could say the same about most Prem teams. He'd be snapped up, shipped around a few loans with no consistency or care to his training, then probably released aged 23 with 4 first team appearances in the Nobblybobs Cup.

The time to move on is when he's cemented his first team place and is looking to the next step.

I agree to a point but not sure a defender like harries will make it in L1...the style of play isn't his style. Yes many youngsters of top flight clubs are pimped out. Perhaps a top level championship side on loan for a season would help his development.

Spot on. Liverpool's record of taking young players early is horrendous in the last 10 years.

What's this nonsense? Strikers in the championship and the premiership are even more athletic than this level. The physicality of the game isn't weaker the higher you go, the game is just played at a quicker pace.
