Shoot me down for this but sisu's thinking with Stevenson is most probably sell now for 2mill plus add ons because what sort of fee can we command if we dont sell this window and we get relegated to league 2?

I take your point but that leaves the obvious question of why sell Madison last January when there was no chance that we were going down? Also the polar opposite of what you say is that if we had have held on to Madison and been promoted how much more would he have been worth if we'd sold him in the summer? Oxlade Chamberlain might be a good comparison to use for that when Southampton sold him to Arsenal of the back of promotion from league one.

I think that the truth is that in January they've been panic selling to stop SISU/ARVO and/or their investors having to dip their hands in their pockets. It's as simple as that.

Another way to look at it in sisu,s prospective is the tax year ends in april and im assuming the accounts need publishing around the same months so january falls at a perfect time to claw back loses with sales and investors to see the accounts figures in the green. (thinking away from football just as a business to try understand the logic).

I honestly think they just have no clue about the game. They don't understand player value or transfer windows or anything else. Just figures on a spreadsheet.

Which players have they stood firm and negotiated a decent deal on? I can't think of one. We've sold everyone at the first sniff of interest.

Gary Borrowdale was a good deal

We wont know if any of the deals have been negotiated decently because there undisclosed, we as fans can speculate all we want what figures and add ons we get but no one has seen any facts on paper of any transfer fee's expect fisher and venus, could be very good add ons, yearly fees etc.. on a certain amount upfront.

Judging on past january deadline day deals in all leagues i cant see maddisons selling package being rubbish considering several clubs supposedly were in for and him going near on 11pm, i understand people thinking me included if we hold out for 6 months we could get an extra mill or so but what happens if that player breaks a leg or dips in form etc.. all ifs and buts

Nope, company accounts are made up to a set date, for the CCFC companies this happens to be the end of May. The accounts should be published 10 months later, i.e. the end of Feb.
The main issue is cash flow, generally for a Football Club the flow is highly positive for the short time season tickets are on sale, then fairly steady across the rest of the season and highly negative in the summer when there is no gate money. The transfer window in January provides an opportunity to top up a sickly looking bank account.

I kind of think they're just desperate to get the accounts showing a profit as they're trying to sell behind the scenes.

Think/hope I guess

Our cash flow can't be too bad in the summer as most of the players will be out of contract and we sign any new ones at the last second;)

The personal tax year ends in April. Corporations are different. Their end of year is usually on the anniversary of when they form.

That's just asking for trouble. Just start a new corporation every 11 months, never pay tax ;)

Just an opinion,
Ben Stevenson should remain with CCFC & form the basis of a squad to take US higher, I, unfortunately don't feel this will happen.
The myopic attitude of Fisher & Co, is such, that they are happy to drive down the club.
Surely, these are not owners, who are fit for purpose.

And lost how many?
.

We'll find out at 11pm 31st January.

Not sure what the issue is. We've always sold our best and we always will. Particularly now when we are skint.

Actions have consequences.

For me the quicker the better.
So Slade knows exactly what he had to do and had the time to do it.
The 11th hour malarkey is a pain in the arse.
Shame is I thought that agtercthe Maddison deal that this years budget would be higher than next year. (when we finished 5 points off the play offs)
Instead it is lower, as we strive for the holy grail (breakeven)

That's true. For instance. If a club goes out of its way to piss off it's fan base, sorry, customer base its hardly surprising that said customer base is leaving bringing hardship on said business.

Yeah fair comment. Its the rest of us left to see players sold, but as i said it has always happened. Gary Gillespie is the first I remember being pissed off about.

There seems to be less of an issue ATM. Players are coming in before they have all gone for once.

Yes it has always happened that I remember. But the lack of replacing them in recent years has hurt us badly.

Not at the first sniff Torch. I remember us turning down offers. I remember there being rumours of players leaving without it immediately happening.

No one has caused us to lose money. This myth that it's the fans fault is just that. When a club has no success crowds drop, that's all there is to it. If they want higher crowds, they have to get higher up the league.

True, so it shouldn't be a surprise we have to sell regardless of who we are blaming today. Apparently we've turned down two offers from Brentford, so maybe we're learning to negotiate at last.

Presumably we had enough money to run the club AND buy players but those days are long gone.

But not enough to pay their wages. That is why we are here now.

But what I meant is we sell and don't even put just 20% back into purchasing a replacement. Someone who then could be sold for a profit at a later date. We are always going backwards. And then we are in competition for the free signings with everyone else.

Mate, I have no idea if we have to sell. I have no idea what this season's finances are. Maybe we do, maybe we don't. You can't blame people for asking questions when Fisher comes out and talks about "£1m profit". Now maybe that's something different, maybe it's an accountancy thing only OSB understands. But he must know that your average fan isn't an accountant and if he says things like that people will get the impression we don't *need* to sell players.

This is what I mean about managing fan expectations. He didn't say "We can't make incomings meet outgoings, so our plan is to sell at least one academy prospect each January", instead he said "now we are making £1m profit".
