No, not that much. Although that figure has been banded around before by JS according to some on here. I would however not be surprised if SISU's asking price was so unrealistic especially when compared to the cost of buying the top flight Rugby team with it's own stadium etc. That's why I can't see it happening. I just can't see SISU dropping their expectations enough to make it possible. Especially when a wealthy company with a reputation for spending big like Red Bull is asking.

As a basic concept it makes sense to own both - the stadium in use twice for a high number of weekends, equals twice the revenue. There's sharing of other facilities too. Plus, if we were taken over by a company willing to invest, there's lots more money to made with Coventry than Wasps, predominantly linked to the money associated with the two sports. Finally, CCFC are in a trough, so to an investor we can only go one way. Arguably Wasps are already at (or at least very close to) their peak.

I appreciate there are lots more complexities and caveats than the basic argument outlined above, but I still believe an independent investor would see benefit in owning both.

The biggest shame in this is if they had come in when SISU did we might be in a completely different universe CCFC wise. The only way they would buy CCFC is if we were in Championship with a decent team and manager , the stadium issue resolved. It would be a bargain investment to build on.

I think we have to think Global reach with Red Bull, if we had a successful team on the world stage they would not give a shite if the stadium was empty as long as the brand was televised , talked about and seen as a success or at least competing for success. Which by the way is everything CCFC are not.

But isn't that the point - the investor would own both clubs and therefore there would be an even parity. It wouldn't be as is.

I agree re the Premier league profit point, but some do. Plus a company like Red Bull could afford to run at a loss if there brand was televised worldwide in association with the most popular and watched league in the world. PR, advertising and brand would be there equaliser.

Anyway, it's all fictional, but it's nice to dream. Especially considering the state we are currently in, both on and off the pitch.

Because I with the right kind of investment to become a club challenging for a European place or reach the FA Cup final reaps rewards...& valuable relatively cheap advertising Worldwide! And all along the way - they have at least doubled their income from the CCFC of the stadium from increased crowds (remember CCFC potential?) Rather than a small-fry rental agreement

All good except the fact we now have a full up club top leagues of this type of Club in Premiership and Championship receiving all the money etc. ( remember the money got better for parachute payments etc. ) , there is no room for Coventry City football club to break that bubble now without a crippling amount of investment. they did an MK Dons, took over an existing club and turned it into RB Leipzig. The point stands that the club must be a money pit, especially as they are going to build a new stadium.
Which suggests that they wouldn't be put off by Citys current situation. Off course, I am still sceptical that there is actually interest.

Red Bull purchased the "playing right" - basically the Golden Share - of a 5th division team called SSV Markranstäd who were based outside Leipzig. Moved the team to Leipzig and created RB Leipzig, as Leipzig had a population of 570,000 and no real top football team.
Leipzig - 5th div team in Germany's 10th most populated city with no local top flight competition.
Coventry - 3rd div team in England's 9th most populated city with minimal local top flight competition.

The comparisons are there. But even me at my most optimistic can't see this happening. Would require £20m-30m-ish for Wasps & ACL, then around £10m for CCFC plus future fees, percentage of profits, loans to SISU who will want to get as much of their investment back as possible rather than writing it all off for the one-time purchase fee. In comparison, Markranstädt cost just €350,000 and were more than willing for Red Bull to completely rebrand the club.

Would I like to see Red Bull come in? Yes, it would be the clean slate that sporting fans in Coventry need, potentially bringing CCFC and Wasps fans together under a new banner.
Will it happen? Unlikely. Wasps will want a good deal, SISU will want a good deal and the £50m that it could take to make the deal happen will make even Red Bull eyes water.
