If we have a week to sort out tickets and there is a demand for say 25k ish City fans (no arguing over less/more, please!), do we think our ticketing system will be up to it? Is this a game where you can order online and print ticket at home? If so, will be easiest way to do it I would have thought.

5pm Saturday is the easiest the date can be confirmed so assuming you can get the ticketing details out Saturday or Sunday you could start selling Monday. You'd have to condense the priority period to just Monday and then general sale on the Tuesday.

That gives them 5 working days for all the general sale. You've also got the problem of posting them out and if they don't post them they will have potentially 20K people picking up tickets on the night.

If this is down to TV what is the standard fee.
We should demand £200K on top of the norm or they can do one.. :-o

Even a cup replay wouldn't be played wc 7th. At least 10 days is required by the local authorities for police cover etc.

I would be surprised if a league game would be cancelled for a checkatrade trophy match.
Maybe they will re-arrange the Colchester game for wc 20th!!

We had to cancel Port vale last round.

You're are right.
Certain sites are saying the clubs are in discussion, but as they have cancelled already I'm presuming they have already come to an agreement.
More that Wycombe have come to an agreement with themselves.

The whole thing does seem a nonsense. The official EFL site said the semi finals would be w/c 20th February. Neither side has a game that week.

Having it on the 7th means Wycombe having to cancel a league game. And in choosing the 7th that might have to be changed anyway if Wycombe draw in the FA Cup.

Why complicate something that should just be straightforward?

A cynic might think there is some ulterior motive to shifting that league game regardless for some reason.
If it is TV related then the £20K quoted in the thread earlier is totally inadequate as a drop off of more than 2000 fans or more will negate the benefit.
Really can't get my head round why we would mess up our own schedule.
If so who within the Club makes those decisions currently?

No, that hat I am saying . Wycombe draw at Spurs then they play on the 7th and ours against them is moved.
But we're not even due to play them on the 7th are we so why is there any need to move our game with them. Our game in the semi isn't until w/c 20th.........in over 3 weeks time.

Or is it this..........
"Should the game be played on February 7th, it would free up the midweek of Tuesday February 21st or Wednesday February 22nd so that the Sky Blues could play their outstanding League One home game against Port Vale as City have midweek games at AFC Wimbledon on February 14th and at Bury on February 28th",

Based on Wycombe saying it IS the 7th and them cancelling their league game.

A little bit more clarification Otis...........perhaps....
Checkatrade Trophy semi against Wycombe could be moved
Doesn't clarify anything though does it. :)

Officially it should be w/c 20th February. Wycombe though have actually postponed their league game on the 7th in order to play against us.

Besides, the Cov Observer seem to have confirmed now that it IS to be the 7th.

Can see this causing problems.

Not announced until the Monday means that Tuesday is the earliest we could possibly start selling tickets. You then have to give the ST holders a chance to claim their tickets and there are usually allowed to purchase one more additional ticket.

Don't see why it would cause problems. If we had a cup game today at a big team away or a local team like villa the replay would be the 7th wouldn't it?

Who knows what the fuck is going on. I will laugh if Wycombe cancelled their game for fk all...

...and this would clash with our midweek game against Bury...

Shame if it is changed. With our club at such a low ebb, a game such as this would be a slow burner regarding the attendance.
If you take the crewe game as an example , it wasn't a huge rush immediately. When people started to realise the crowd was going to be large it caused a knock on effect which led to a sell out.
Playing the game next week wouldn't have enough time Imo for it to have the same effect.

Based on previous problems at the club and tickets.

This has been going on now for 24hrs.
All our club had to do was issue a 15 second one line statement stating , we are or are not discussing the match taking place on the 7th Feb.
Fecking simple !

BBC now have it down as Monday 27th too. Guess that's when it is.

Ha, ha Wycombe.

I wonder how they are going to break it to Colchester.

Obviously the big concern here is the fact that it is just two days after we play Swindon at home and that is surely a massive league game for us.

I am more likely to believe that than Wycombe's announcement and the fact that it is a Monday tells me that this is dictated to and chosen by Sky.
Leicester play Liverpool that
No other reason to play on a Monday.
Leicester v Liverpool on that night.
Why choose a night when viewing figures could be zero.
