If Stokes is fit, then bring him in ahead of Haynes. If we're gonna get out of this, we might as well gamble on his fitness because any great escape act will be based primarily on tightening up at the back before nicking the odd goal.
I'd also throw them a curve-ball by starting with both Rose and Foley, but with Rose at RB (he's done OK at RWB so can slot in at RB) with Foley in CM, which I believe he has done well in the past. OK he's 32 so not the most mobile, but this will have 4 advantages:
1 - an experienced player who is tough in midfield, using his know-how to shield the defence and distribute thee ball forwards, letting his midfield partner get forward
2- on the teamsheet with both Rose and Foley, NTFC will assume that Foley is right back so we'll get the advantage of surprise in implementing our game plan
3 - Rose probably better at overlapping than Foley anyway so we'll ideally have better end product on the right; and
4- perhaps most important, we'd have a real "spine" in the team, with Clarke at the back, Foley in front of him, Beavon in front of him.
Therefore:
Burge
Stokes
Clarke
Willis
Rose
Reid
Foley
Stevenson
Jones
Beavon
Vernam
That does look a solid team. I'd be surprised if we get beat tomorrow. I'll be there and I'll make a point of offering odds to my mate who goes to every game assuming we're gonna lose (and who therefore has been portraying himself as a sort of Mystic Meg character for the last 3 months).
