Had the same sense of relief. As we hardly ever get a mention now for football reasons and Leeds are a much bigger story/scalp they might now let it drop.

There's just a chance that after beating Leeds the BBC WILL STOP MENTIONING CITY whenever Sutton are brought up - its like a worn record
I wondered that, but it's not as big as 1989. If Leeds were Premier League it would be a bigger shock as they are a very big club, but they're Championship. Bugger. .

And teams don't play their best 11 in the cup anymore, so not as big a shock these days

As the commentator said this is better than the 1989 FA cup win against Coventry. Perhaps the record will now be put to bed. Perhaps the Gypsies curse will pass on to Leeds now.

Just heard the manager on Radio 4, thought we'd got away with it until the last question:

"Does this eclipse the Coventry City win?"

"No I don't think so, this is just more recent"

Bugger.

I can think of few more deserving recipients.

As I switched on the radio yesterday before the game they were talking about it so I switched off the radio.

I am sure other teams from the top league have been beaten by non league since but we rarely hear about that just our game and Hereford Newcastle.

Yesterday was nothing like the upset the 89 game was. The way Leeds approached the game was shameful. The pursuit of the PL (and its European cousin the Champions League) financial incentive has already emasculated the UEFA Cup and the League Cup and it is now after the FA Cup. The Football Association and the Premier League are an absolute disgrace.
