Again it really shows what's wrong with the club. It's not all this bollocks that sisu take money out the club (or they'd have vetoed this for sure) but that the directors take no responsibility for decisions and just hand it to the manager and Venus.

Fisher should just block it but sits on his hands.

The only points Yakubu will win us is Weightwatchers ones

Not too hard to lose weight / gain WW points when you're carrying a lot extra in the first place. It just means that a sensible diet and a bit of exercise will see you lose lots of weight quite quickly, as there's lots of "low hanging fruit", no pun intended, that can be lost without much effort. I didn't do any exercise from mid-November to new year, but since then I've been looking after myself and have lost about a stone just by eating sensibly and going for an evening run.

Yes he might be overweight but a lot of you have short memories of what the beast did to our defence last week. We've needed a physical presence upfront since Dion left. Welcome the Yak.

Not so sure why so much negativity around him. We're light on strikers, here we have a striker of size who if he can win a ball, hold off a player and lay off to someone it opens up opportunities for others. He may not have 10 goals in him and blistering pace but he's a focal point.
Akinfenwa proved the other night you don't need to be mobile to be most effective if your creating gaps for others.

Russell Slade said:
He’s not the player he was three or four years ago when he was playing in the Premier League – he’s not that young anymore.

...

As you get older you lose that yard of pace and you can see that

...

He hasn’t played for a while which is the only concern

Pointless and desperate signing. We don't need another immobile front man, we need somebody to run on to flick ons. Kwame Thomas looked pretty good in the air on Saturday and won a lot, we just have no striker (Thomas aside but he's being used on the wing) who is likely to run on to these flicks.

dont be such a party pooper

How long does International Clearance take? any chance he can play tomorrow...could be the start of 5 wins on the spin.

Just a thought

Hope I'm wrong but I can't seem him keeping us up. If we'd won at the weekend there might have been a very slim chance but we're just too far behind now.

Slim? I thought Yakubu was overweight?

Mind you, Hartson was supposedly a crock when we signed him, and he changed our season.. (yeah, I know we still went down)

I have it on good authority he weighed in at 86.7kg.
EDIT: Just spoken to my source - that was just his cat.

He is past his best. But his best was good in a division full of big players. If he has got just half the ability that he used to have and gives it his best he will score.

The last time someone of similar calibre joined us was Dennis Wise. And we all know what happened next. But he got called shit before he played for us.

If the 86kg is right, that's still overweight for a man of the Yak's height. I am a similar height to him and that's the max BMI you can be for that height before you're considered "overweight"

It wasn't. I was just being facetious and wanted to use the overweight cat gif!

Quite a few similarities with the John Hartson signing back in ’01… desperation to solve a shortage of goals by signing a striker with fitness issues in February, probably ending up with the same result of relegation.

The biggest similarity being that if Yakubu does hit the ground running and start banging them in its come to late.

We've needed a big bully if only so Slade's brand of lump and hope actually has a logic to it. He could be amazing, but with our track record of older players I'm not getting too excited. Burned too many times.

No idea but I was thinking he'd be available for tomorrow night.

Coup signing because once firing goals, he will become a hero. Give him a chance folks. Feed the Yak he will score. I know the table looks grim but few wins on the table could change things. Yakubu needs to hit the ground running now ,and then put his experience on the line now.

It might be a desperate signing, but surely none of us will know until we see him play.

I reserve judgement until I can see him in a City shirt (that's if we can find one to fit him).

Also, signings such as this, with a player of previously high profile, can inspire those players around him.

Not expecting it to work outs but at least we are trying something and if he is the only half fit player going then so be it
