He can't play tonight according to sky sports

Knowing our top class organisation, the international clearance arrived at The Wheatsheaf 5 minutes after the deadline needed to play tonight.

If Beavon is out we need another option. Blame who you want, you know if he can't play tonight it will almost certainly be the clubs fault somehow for not getting their arses in gear.

I don't know if the quote is accurate but I can't help being a bit worried. According to the BBC Sport app: -

"He's a one-in-every-two-games man goals-wise, so we had to be interested," Slade told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.

In a decade in English football, Yakubu scored 114 times in 293 league appearances

...now forgive me worrying & being pedantic but 293/114 = 2.57. Most people would call that 2 in 5 games...or round it to 1 in 3. I'm all for positive thinking but it no wonder things don't add up!

...onwards & upwards PUSB

How many starts (genuine question)

He looked pretty big, although hard to see if it was muscle or flab.

To be fair he did well enough - pretty beast-like in holding up the ball, brought others into play a couple of times after winning a long ball, crisp passing that took our players a bit by surprise with the power on the pass.....OK he had a couple of misplaced passes too, but it looked like he had the oppo defence worried and even looked like they had 2 men on him when 1 could have challenged Jones for the goal, so if he has that sort of impact it may be that he'll make space for others to create chances.

That said, after 15 minutes he was sweating buckets! He has no pace but in a way that's irrelevant, he seems to ensure he is in the right place and can make space for himself. For the limited amount we saw, that was a reasonably encouraging start.

If he had been here in Dec then maybe we'd be 5 or 6 pts better off and there would be some hope... but think it is too late now, especially with the rubbish defence we've got.

I'm still fucked off that he was called offside when he was through on goal about a minute before their equaliser. Linesman completely bottled it.

Yakubu is a touch of class...and he and Jones had an instant understanding. A case of class understanding class I'd say. I hope Slade has the nouse to make something of it. The game changed completely when those two came on. Shame we've left all this too late ...I'll be at Gillingham on Sat though, hoping to see more invention on the field.

Correct - an absolute howler. Our fans were right in line with it and, to a man, we were up in arms.

Shocker of a decision. He was at least a yard onside! Slade and all the fans inline with it were furious
Yes, and I was one of them!

Some on here were saying that Yak would be a liability - the glimpses last night suggest he could be pretty handy. He appears lumbering but in fact he is quite mobile when he needs to be. I think he'll put the wind up a few defences; if he can stay fit he is tailor-made for the target man role in Slade's long ball tactics.

And me - definitely onside. It seemed to me that the lino guessed.

Agree with the Yak assessment . Thought he did ok and it was nice to see a player with a half decent first touch for a change

Despite my cynicism about age etc. I thought he could either be excellent or prove too unfit.
On last nights showing he is tending towards the excellent side. He has a lot more class than all his team mates.
If only he was here 3 months ago then the situation might be much better than it is.

I think you make it the Ricoh. B-)

Best thing about him is that he looks very hard for defences to out-muscle; he will do a good job in holding up the ball and then bringing others into play. Other teams won't be able to bully him like they can with Tudgay etc. Should be good at corners and free kicks too, provided we can get the ball past the first man.....
