Yeah, but then that's seen as a negative move by sitting deeper and inviting your opposition.
There should of been enough in the tank to see this out, proving the players don't have the mental ability

But he was happy enough to make a debatable defensive sub V Wycombe when he brought in finch and is paid off. I'd take negative tactics over a loss of 2 or more points right not :(

If the picture is true I have seen with Slade holding his fingers signalling 1-0 to Wimbledon fans behind the dugout is real. Then this shows and tells me what I already thought about this clown.

No manager had a chance at this club, but this is really giving the club a faster way downwards than at other period that I can remember. TF said recruitment has been the main reason for failing, does he include himself in this.

It was to the city fans who were asking him what the score was.

He was a good sport tonight. Took a lot of stick.

Reilly had a fair game. Foley didn't look as useless as he has done at RB but don't think he offered us anything Bigi couldn't, given that he's a natural midfielder
Has he got an engine on him foley or are the legs gone?

Burge 6 - Reasonable handling except for one awful spillage in the first half which he was lucky to get away with. Few routine saves. Kicking seemed ok.

DKE 7 - Battled so well for a guy his size and wins more than his fair share aerially. Their left winger Barcham didn't get much change out of him all night. Distribution also seems to be improving

Rawson 5 - Awful first 10-15 mins, panicked in the air and on the ground. Got better in the second half and won most of his battles as AFC ran out of ideas. Far too many slices clearances and botched headers for a player at this level. Hopefully sack him off on Sat when Willis is back.

Clarke 7 - Very vocal and led the back 4, could hear Slade shouting at him to talk to the others. Won countless aerial battles, though lacked composure with the ball on occasions (aimless hoofs). Clearly a solid centre half at this level and exactly the player we needed back in August.

Turnbull 5 - Like Rawson, poor first half but grew into it much more in the 2nd. He looks so awkward in challenges and with the ball at his feet, his balance and body shape really is all over the place most of the time - it really makes me wonder what Mowbray saw in him. Solid enough defensively but offers ZERO going forwards from left back.

Foley 5 - Expected him to offer more composure than he did in that holding role, wasn't that impressed by his use of the ball. However was vocal and allowed Reilly to play further forwards.

Rose 6 - Ran all night, won stuff in the air and played simple enough passes in midfield (when the ball was on the deck). He's very good at closing down and shadowing players without actually winning the ball back or being strong in the tackle which works to the advantage of oppo midfield runners if given space (see Oldham 3rd goal from Sat).

Reilly 6.5 - He's a clever player and good on the ball technically. Some nice interchanges with G Thomas and Jones down the right. Worked hard with Rose. Set pieces need improvement.

G Thomas 6 - Missed a glorious 1v1 chance in the 1st half. Also worked hard and tried to use the ball intelligently whenever it was on the deck in the first half.

K Thomas 5 - Didn't provide much threat, though spent more of the night contesting headers than with the ball at his feet

Tudgay 5 - Sloppy with his hold up play, lost the ball too often which failed to relieve any pressure on the defence or calm the nerves we showed in the first 20 mins. Few nice flicks, including to G Thomas for 1v1 chance.

Yakubu 7 - Clearly unfit but changed the game for us along with Jones. Valued the ball more than Tudgay and created some openings with his lay off play and movement. Didn't look overweight and should be a valuable signing if he can get up to speed sharpish.

Jones 7 - Great finish. Was a good outlet for us, showed more intelligence with his dribbles and clearly frightened the AFC defence with his pace. Needs to show that more consistently to be a threat for us.

Game played between 2 poor sides on a poor pitch not even remotely conducive to any sort of pretty, passing football. We started the game like we were defending the lead in the last 10 mins vs Wycombe - jittery defending, botched clearances and aimless hoofs downfield. AFC were much more composed on the ball than us and offered some threat through midfield and down the flanks but we gradually grew into it and managed to hit half time without too much incident. Yakubu and Jones changed the game 2nd half for us. Thought the defence stood up well but still clearly lack confidence, too many heart in mouth moments where players are unsure who is meant to clear what ball, 2 players going for the same challenge etc. Boils down to communication and leadership, some of which Clarke and Foley showed tonight.

Disappointed in Slade's defensive tactics from 75 mins on and think this partly rubs off on the players - they go into Wycombe mode and retreat deeper and deeper until the inevitable happens. Would have been such a good win tonight for morale. 11 points off safety with 15 games left - no chance now.

Knew it would happen. Our manager is utterly clueless, and what I don't get is the opportunity the city fans behind the dug out had to have a serious go at Slade, but chose not to say a thing!!! He has to go now before he incurs any further damage...utterly clueless stating line up. Tudgay and Burg shouldn't be allowed on the pitch again this season...we have some gifted people on the bench, but why, Why aren't the gifted players starting???!!! What is he saving them for? To not give Lameiras a run out , start even, when the game is crying out for someone to play the ball along the ground is incomprehensible. To draw with Wimbledon, an appalling one dimensional team is unforgivable....

I sat in the stand behind the goal, but not sure what difference fans shouting at a manager no matter where they are positioned is going to have had.

A manager is t going to think 'shit, the fans want to see xxx I'd better put him on to keep them happy'. He's going to do what he fees is right, whether we agree with it or not.

Should I be annoyed he not the players didn't listen to what I was shouting, losing much of my voice in the process?

As for more gifted players on the bench, do we? Could they cut it in the way we wanted to position ours lives today?

Reid - Mr inconsistent himself
Haynes - doesn't do it often enough
RCC - can only play one keeper, both as error prone and lacking confidence as each other
Yak - came on, quite immobile, few good touches but was never going to get longer
Bigi - as mentioned in my previous post 'may' have been better suited to the role Foley was being asked to play, but has been out of form of late.
Ruben - only seems to turn it on in the Checkatrade (that because we're playing lower division teams or teams of kids?)
Jones - yes he did well when he came on but is another who is just too inconsistent

I just don't see what he offers us. DKE is equally as good at RB if not better. And although he did a fair job today and did a lot less wrong plying DCM, I still don't see why he came here! Apart from just being another body to have around

I respectfully disagree , I've been to every single game home and away , we played Bradford off the park until turnbull was sent off , games like Oldham at home where tudgay missed sitters, we were creating .
The football now is absolutely abysmal and Miles away from what we played or tried to play under mowbray

Oldham? Cooke kept us in the game that day. Yeah tudgay missed one header in the first half but who allowed him a contract in the first place.

You were entertained by Northampton and Shrewsbury at home? Lucky you.

He was vocal, especially 2nd half. Didn't use the ball as well as I'd have expected though so as you say, not a huge difference from Bigi other than having more experience.

No. You?

I was there tonight and for those of you who weren't, don't listen to all this moaning about Slade on here. That was NOT the mood of the fans as we left the ground, his name wasn't mentioned once on the way home and I was with a group of a dozen fans. We very nearly pulled off a smash and grab job there. Wimbledon had a good spell either side of half time, but we were the better team for much of the game and towards the end, after the goal, they had no ideas left as Slade says. Even the goal seemed to come out of nothing for Dons, it all seemed very comfortable and then moments later we had conceded.

By the way, Wimbledon did have several attempts on goal, they missed 3-4 decent chances so no idea where the "they had no shots before the goal" line came from.

Burge, DKE, Clarke, Reilly, Kwame and Jones all did well. Yak looked like he will be a handful in future games, too. Like a cross between Reda and Nouble!

The mistake wasn't conceding in the last few seconds, the mistake was not making sure we were two up by then.

I didn't say that. I said after we scored the threat had disappeared and the goal came from nowhere.

Even if we won what difference would it have made? This squad loses games. It's poor and weak. The notion they are going to get 40,000 applauding then at Wembley is mind boggling.
You know something, I have been dead excited about getting to Wembley and going to Wembley and been really looking forwards to it all, but I have to say I am starting to come round to your way of thinking on this.

The more I think about it, the more I think that the idea of giving a heroes welcome and standing ovation to a bunch of players who simply haven't given enough this season is all rather odd and embarrassing.

:(

I have lost my buzz at the moment, after previously having been totally buzzing.

If it wasn't for a Wembley date I think Russell Slade would walk away. He's come in on a short deal with as much a plan to reserect his professional managerial career as keeping us up If he stays the distance, we go down perhaps by the cup final date his signings prove inept his managerial career at pro level will be finished.

Not doing his CV any good whatsoever is it.

I know we are a basket case, but no wins from 9 matches in charge from him is just awful, especially as he has now brought in a number of players.

Been unlucky with Vernam and Folivi, but Reilly, Rawson, Clarke, Foley, Beavon. He's brought enough players in to make a difference and it should have made a difference.

Fisher should be on the phone to sisu this morning outlining his plan for us to have a real crack at getting out of league 2 next year, if he doesn't receive their support then he should walk. Part of that plan should be him on his knees begging fans for forgiveness for the absolute car crash he's turned the club into and pleading with fans to get behind the team next year.
