can't move him on if he isnt fit ............. saving his wages would allow loans to come in ......... if it gives AT options all well and good. But I wouldnt hold my breath on FE being the goal scorer we need or him having the right attitude........ real waste of talent

OSB, I think it's more desperation on AT's part than anything else. He hasn't got options and our only goalscorer is being moved on. He knows how hard it is to get someone else in so what can he do other than ask one of our strikers who is on the books already (no matter how fat or lazy he is) to get fit and try (For the love of GOD, JUST TRY FREDDY) and get in the team!

I wouldn't bet on a first team appearance ever again. Thorn has clearly communicated his terms and FE has repeatedly chosen not to meet them. What a waste. Does he realise how many peoples childhood dreams it has been to not only pull on that shirt competitively but to play for a living at all?

don't think it's a question of try or not but more a case of potions which should have been the stance before...not sending him to the wilderness. Thorn has to eat his words. Naive comes to mind.

Waste of a given talent like Thornton and so many others over the years very sad.
Gazza must be the worst case he could have been one of the all time greats but guess we will never know.

It is clear that he has had a complete change. It's obv that the Juke transfer is imminent and he has no Platt, McDonald and only Macca up front with Jeffers... SISU OUT!

Well at least ROD is fit, have we all forgotten him?

thorns right hes given him enough chances i say get rid and use the money to get someone in who will do the job.

FE should be sent on loan to a sunday league club,of course we would still have to pay his wages but at least it would be fitting to see him sat on a bench thats more his current level.
Yes i said bench...........i doubt he would get in the first 11.

I don't really think he's saying anything new here:

"I want players on the pitch. If he comes back and he his bursting a gut and he is fit, I am not going to say to him your not playing.
But if you aren't contributing to the side, then surely you got to look at yourself. He is fully aware if he gets himself fit and sorted out, he would in the squad.
He needs to get himself right. If someone told me to go and look for another club, it would drive me on."

Bits in bold highlighted as they are areas that we know Freddy has been failing in. And if is the most important part. There's nothing in AT's interview that hasn't been true all season. I think this is mainly for the attention of other clubs that might like to take him off our hands, thereby saving us some money.

Doesnt sound like his stance has changed at all, get fit and prove you're worth a salary or fuck off, fair enough really

Was thinking exactly the same thing.

Sounds like Juke going with no guarantee of any replacement so we are reduced to having to try and get a disinterested, overweight millstone back into the squad.

That would be funny. I actually praised Thorn on another post for at least seeing through the lazy one. Now he will play him again? If he does even fans of AT will be hiding away -- I actually don't think he will to be fair -- he would look stupid!

Let's just say, he's better than
Platt
Rod
Cody
Jeffers

So?
Why not give him another chance?

It's because he is better than all of the above but performs at the same level as them. Worst attitude since....Cody McDonald. I think they are the same person actually.

Maybe he wants FE to be fit for next season and not this one and he's giving him enough time to get ready for the start of the season.

I think Thorn was peeved with him after the final pre-season match against Norwich where he did nothing for the first half. then sprinted just once and pulled his hamstring in the second half.

wtf? Have to take issue wit hthis mate.

Gazza IS one of the all time greats imo. Could he have won more, extended his career or been even better? Yes of course he could. Was it a stupid tackle that could have ended his career against Forest? Aboslutely. But and its a big but imo, he didn't waste his talent on the football pitch. Loved to party too much, not very bright and easily led but loved the game too and thats the main difference between him and wasters like FE. The goal against Scotland must rank as one of the all time greats and he was simply awesome on his day with balance, skill and passing skills. Amazing player.
