Glory Hunters? (3 Viewers)

So, 40,000 want to go to Wembley- does this make 30,000 glory hunters who no longer watch the Sky Blues ? No !
Many of those so called glory hunters are long standing supporters who have just given up. Can you blame them ? Many have paid thousands of pounds over a great many years supporting CCFC and have memories of just what an amazing club we once were. Emotions play a great part and SISU have all but destroyed their support.
The 40,000 who go to Wembley are a stark reminder of the potential of of what once was a great club - just destroyed by the present owners.
Those who criticise those who no longer go to watch the team and label them glory hunters probably have no idea just how far our once great club has fallen.

Nobody has called anybody a glory supporter. Some however have been rightly mocked for their refusal to attend games/provide the club with an income while moralising at other supporters then buying tickets for a big occasion.
Can you be certain that increased crowds would see a much better investment in the team.
Last season the crowds improved but come the new year when additional funds would have at least seen a play off place, nothing happened.
I'm not saying there would be none at all , just not enough to make any difference.

I think the glory hunters deserve some credit. They obviously haven't seen City play recently. Some a long long time. Wait till they watch at Wembley and then remember why they gave up in the first place. I just cant watch this rubbish. So I'm not at Wembley cause it's not about the Wembley for me, it's the football. It's pants. So credit goes to the glory hunters. They can gladly have my ticket.

But following your team is much more than the match , in fact if it was I would have given it up years ago.
The thought of driving to a match 10 minutes before ko, watching the game and driving straight home after is totally alien to most fans of a certain vintage.
To me the day out has almost as much importance as the game.
If some people are only interested in great entertaining football then it's not too hard to get tickets for the top prem sides , just go and watch them instead.
Many people's best memories and stories following their clubs probably don't even involve the actual game itself but the day surrounding it.
To me Wembley will be just that , I hope we win , I hope we play well but rest assured I will have a great day with a story or 2 for the future.

I remember the winning games more than the losing games. Yes it is about the day and the social aspect. Maybe I'm old school, I can't watch other 'entertaining' teams. I'm a City fan. Coventry or nothing. I've been to Wembley and had the result and had the craic, and we ended that season on a high. This time the day out will be saddened with relegation. A poor team, a poor cup final, more than likely a thrashing. Making me sad just thinking about it.
Imagine recalling this day out. Shit cup, shit football, shit relegation. Had a good piss up tho. Sad

Day tripper would be more accurate as there's no glory to be had here. Ultimately who cares though. Everyone can crack on.

Least your Man Utd / Chelsea / Arsenal shirts can go in the wash while you are on the all dayer at Wembley ;)

Anyone willing to pay money to watch CCFC at this time should be applauded, whether it's Wembley, the Ricoh or next season away to Forest Green.

That's the whole point isn't it? Supporting a team that put a cup before the league. A shit cup. I can't forget what they have done to this club. They will get gone in a fee seasons or summer and they leave us on the shit. You can stick this shit cup right up their arses.

It's nothing to do with money, it's pure emotion for those who no longer go. Memories of what we once we're and the pain of watching sisu destroy such a proud club. Those like me who go back to the early 1960's will know what I mean.

I can assure you I won't be supporting or applauding the "team" as they walk onto the pitch or at the end of the match when we get tonked! They don't deserve the support of the 30 or 40000 that will be at Wembley. Or the hardcore 8000 that have supported them this season. One thing I will be doing though is having a great day with my son and a sing song despite everything else. "In our Coventry homes-we speak with an accent exceedingly rare-you want a cathedral we've got one to spare, in our Coventry homes!"

There will only be the 8000 or so real die-hards left at the end of the game, if we get the beating many on here are expecting (hoping for?)......

Not too sure about "hoping for?" a loss, whats the point in going down to Wembley with that sort of attitude? (not having a pop at you).
Enjoy the day by all means, whatever floats ya boat in that respect, but hoping for a loss is beyond me.
