Makes you wonder; why now? Why not when we appointed Slade if he was that interested in coming back? Who knows, had we got him, we might be a point or two closer to safety :(

Perhaps Slade was cheaper, or Fisher genuinely thought he was the man to turn it around. Can't blame either Robins or Fisher without knowing the score, but I agree, its frustrating to think going for the wrong guy - whatever the reason - could have made a difference. Hopefully Robins can get a better performance out of the team, think its too late to us from the drop, but might give us a chance vs Oxford if the right players are picked and can turn it on.

Just for the record his stats at Huddersfield and Scunthorpe are about the same as mowbrays here over his whole tenure. Not great but hardly a disaster.

Think his stats with us, albeit a short tenure, are the best of his managerial career.

Who were Robins' backroom staff last time he was here? Anyone remember?

Oggy with his clipboard is obviously a given of course.

Did he keep Richard Shaw for a while?

This is really fucking strange.

I was very angry at the way he left, and I thought he was a bit of a traitor to be honest. A big part of his departure was due to the owners, so what's changed?

That said, in his time here he did well. Getting him in now with a full summer is the right move, and the efficiency from SISU and Fisher (as much as it fucking kills me to say) has to be credited this time.

If he will be here next year I don't feel so bad about League 2. That said he needs to be backed, and he has to prove to the fans his heart is in it again.

I wonder if he will resign Clarke and tell it is time to stay at a club for a while? Neither of them took that advice!

Can't see Clarke wanting to play in league 2, and probably couldn't afford his wages

He did indeed. He was marginally offside. And yes, what a brilliant night that was.

It was funny when Moussa did the same to them at their own ground, by scoring the equaliser in the last minute, after 7 added-on.

And beavon scored for them :)

He did inherit a very good squad TBF.

But if he's here for next season too, then he should have a relatively decent budget for L2, any club going down and restructuring will do.

Got to say, if it is a proper contract and not a 6 month jobby, fair play to the board on this one. Proper manager given time to get things right for next season, which is what we all asked for. If it is an "until the end of the season" job, then it's a massive waste of everyone's time, he ain't gonna keep us up.

if it is a decent length of contract then I 'd imagine he was given certain assurances regarding budget then it's another curve ball in the futile pursuit of trying to guess what the fuck our owners are up to.

Great appointment and my first choice but didn't think there was a cat in hells chance. Finally got something right should have happened a on tome back. We're doomed this year but already feeling better about next season now.

Robins has still got 2.5 years left on his original contract
Maybe we're still paying him and we've made him come back!

Had a quick look for comments from Huddersfield and Scunthorpe fans and saw some Scunny fans giving him some of the credit for this seasons success saying he put the squad together but was unlucky with injuries.

And Scunthorpe I think only lost 25 out of 71 matches under his stewardship.

A lot of draws though. 23 wins, 23 draws, 25 loses.

Is that true there, that comment that 18 of the clubs in League Two have ground capacities of 10,500 or less?
Portsmouth, Notts County, Carlisle, Blackpool, Plymouth, Doncaster all over 15K then its Wycombe on 10,300.

Yeah, me and my mate were talking on the way to the car after the Stockport game. "We're going to piss this league".
You wasn't alone. Two sides of the ground that day was sky blue, our new striker scoring on debut. Little did we know about just how poor Stockport were rather than that we were good.

Find out whether he is a good manager or not know. He wasn't here long enough to know last time.
He failed at Huddersfield and Scunthorpe after us. However he did do well for the short stint he was here so fingers crossed.

Compared to now? It was fucking Barcelona. Murphy, Wood, Christie, Fleck, McSheffery, Baker, McGoldrick, Wilson.

Compare that to: Burge, Turnbull, Haynes, Rose, Reid, Jones, Tudgay, etc.

I thought it was like watching Brazil?

Club's been stripped bear in just a few short years.

Absolutely and yet we thought it was shit then. I fear for the day in a few years when we look back on this season as the good old days.

If it is Robbins I sincerely hope we've got him on a decent length contract and not til the end of the season.

I sincerely hope people finally learn how to spell his surname!

Also, do we still have any players from when he was here before?

Willis, that's it from those who played a first team game before or during his tenure.

Likewise you could say about any successful manager that they were lucky to have a goalscorer.
The fact they've managed to find one is a good thing.

I always think the credit has to be shared, a successful goalscorer can only flourish in the setup a manager puts out, and the right striker can make a manager's setup work incredibly well. Getting the right combination needs a little from either side, even when I hated Robins for walking I felt he deserved credit for what he did while here.
