Phil Brown read the riot act after last Saturdays performance which he says was disgusting. He intimated that a few players were scared of going up a division , presumably incase they had to play harder, or not be deemed good enough to be offered contracts. This will either have the effect that Southend will come out with their pants on fire or certain key players will have the right ach with Phil Brown and not turn up all.

Depends which team turns up, first half against Bradford and we get three points,<snip>
Well we wouldn't because in the first half against Bradford, we didn't score, and you need to score to get 3 points.

Sooner or later we will get one of those good wins and everyone will say we should have played like that sooner.
But I sense that is not going to happen here.

Willis to replace Turnbull, or would he put him RB?

I hope he don't for Mark Robins sake, if fans see Willis at right back like at bury there will be a melt down again..... even tho Willis is no stranger to playing that role.
I don't see how he can come back into the side, hardly had any time since Northampton and not exactly match fit

Of course Willis can play RB but he’s not exactly your modern day fullback, is he? Yes he’ll make us more solid and provide some covering pace for Clarke but going forward and getting crosses in, overlapping etc he is pretty poor. I’d rather see DKE play there tbh.

Yes agree 100% and when he broke into the side that was his position. Never been great at getting forwards tho that's not his style. He's not a Cyrus Christie type.... more a solid defensive type. (I'll use solid loosely..)
but many went into meltdown when he was last named at right back... square pegs, round holes many claimed.
I don't think you could drop DKE for a rusty Willis tho even tho DKE positional play can be questioned some times.

I'd rather him than that donkey Clarke.

I'd rather Willis along side Clarke but that's personal opinions.
Thought Clarke handled Charlie Wyke very well Saturday, won most things against him. Didn't shine for there 2nd goal tho coming out to close down a 60/40 ball, possibly his only real error of judgement over the 90 mins.

That's alright then, just another goal where he's gone for a ball that isn't his leaving a yawning gap behind. That's really what you want your so-called experienced head doing. He's a waste of space, overweight and should be nowhere near our team.

No, it's not what I want my experienced head doing personally, like I said he didn't shine there, his only real mistake over the game. The 2nd goal was a catalogue of individual errors too, Clarke's the biggest as he stepped out. Our defensive shape was poor on the build up to that also. Chris stokes was so far out of his position it left him trailing the whole move.
But what Clarke did do in that game and what I want my "experienced head" to do is win every header and give there main attacking physical attacking threat nothing. And he did just that.
But if you view his as over weight, waste of space than that's your opinion, but says how poor Willis and Turnbull have been together this year.

Ffs not wingbacks again. Can't see where any goals are coming from there.

Bit risky to play 5 defenders when we only have one to bring on if someone gets injured. Hopefully we can be a bit creative in midfield for once though

Yep, sounds like 3-5-2. To be pair that's our strongest midfield, and Haynes/DKE are attacking defenders so on paper it works.

However, not convinced on Tudgay/Beavon as a two but I assume the theory is Beavon as the runner and Tudgay as the hold up man.

Also, no more Burge please!!

I kin give up.All of em have tried wing backs, it don't work. The players are to thick to play this system. And how the f*** has Tudgay talked himself back into the side.

Every time we've tried wing backs it's been an unmitigated disaster.

Slades downfall was panicking and adopting it. Mowbray adopted it with full backs who'd never played there.

Wing backs defend as well as attack.

I think Tudgay is going to score tonight, whether that's on the pitch remains to be seen, but he is going to score

3-5-2 or even 5-3-2. I'm not hopeful of a positive result. I'm surprised to see tudgay and beavon together...2 experienced players but no pace between them. I think this could be a dour, and boring game. I'm sure robins wants to instil some steel into the spine but not sure this is the way to go. I'm beginning to wish I'd stayed at home and seen Leicester given a football lesson.
